Sinak listens straining to overhear their conversation, to see why Durnan is so distracted, and what he is saying to the old bard. If he cannot hear well enough, he says “Sorry, I need to get rid of some beer, be right back.” and he heads to the bathroom via a circuitous route to be able to overhear the conversation, and after handling his business he heads back to the table.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Kelytha is nursing her third tankard of ale at the bar. She isn't entirely certain the time of day, but it's probably too early to already be on number three. But what else is there for her to do right now? No job, no clients. She'd put the word out wherever she could, hand-drawn leaflets posted in guild hall windows, with some little success. But for the last month, nothing. She needed some cheering up, and the Yawning Portal was always good entertainment. Idiots, all of these adventurers, for dropping into the unknown, but it was a good show.
Next to her at the bar she catches parts of a conversation between a wood elf and the bartender. "...where I may find him?...told me he would...track him down elsewhere." Dark hair, gentle features. Something familiar about that voice. No, it couldn't be...
As the woman turns her back and returns to her table, Kelytha follows with her eyes. Also around the table are a pale-skinned Drow, a Halfling, and... Cat. It could only be Cat. So the Elf must be, has to be...
Kelytha drifts over to the table automatically. On her way there time seems to slow. She sees Cat trip over and welcome a Tiefling to the table, and the Drow get up to leave. She arrives, and stands awkwardly for a moment before saying hesitantly "Eilla? Cat?"
Five and a half feet of half-elf stands before you, clearly of Sun Elf heritage. Her honey blonde hair is caught up in a loose, messy braid. Metal pauldrons are clipped to a chain shirt, and the dirty blue collar of a tunic sticks out from underneath. A longsword hangs on one side.
Sinak walks round the room and his passive perception is high enough to pick up on Durnan saying ‘Sorry Joel, I haven’t seen him around. To be honest I could never keep track of him when we were in the same room and I’m surprised that you didn’t lose him years ago. Let me have a think on where he could be, have you tried....’
[OOC] Joel is probably not a name you recognise. You could try a history check, but it would need to be pretty good.
Hearing that, Sinak takes a detour and goes to the bar, standing beside the man, awaiting Durnan to order another drink. He focuses in on the conversation while looking at the taps behind the bar, looking as though he is really concentrating on a beer selection. He is curious who he has lost, and he tries to recall if he’s seen Joel in the last 2 weeks. Sinak interjects into a pause in the conversation, “Good to see you Durnan, any other new beers you have on tap? That last one was great… really nice finish.” he looks over at the man, saying “Hey mister, are you looking for someone? Can I help? Maybe I’ve seen them?” The picture of the helpful bystander, slightly buzzed.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Joel gives you a grateful smile and says ‘Maybe you can, my new friend..’ however before Joel can finish he is interrupted by a shout from near the front door that the whole party can hear, “Ya pig! Like killin’ me mates, does ya?” Then a seven-foot-tall half-orc is hit by a wild, swinging punch from a male human whose shaved head is covered with eye-shaped tattoos. Four other humans stand behind him, ready to jump into the fray. The half-orc cracks her knuckles, roars, and leaps at the tattooed figure — but before you can see if blood is drawn, a crowd of spectators clusters around the brawl.
Tired of being subtle Bonnie says clearly ‘Durnan! We have got another one starting over here’.
Sinak can tell that Durnan is tired, it sounds like this is an ongoing problem and he is trying to motivate himself to get involved.

Eilla was looking up to the sun elf standing there, who had just called out Cat's name and hers, when the shout rings out through the tavern. "Little Kelytha, right? Good to see you, but it looks like you've joined us at an interesting time." She looks to everyone at the table as she stands. "One second," she says. "Everyone: Kelytha. Kelytha, have a seat or join me, your choice."
Eilla attempts to push her way through the crowd of spectators to see what she can do to deescalate the fight. She pointedly does not draw her rapier, figuring that a flash of steel would only stir violent passions.
Eilla isn’t jumping over tables, but she makes her way through the crowd to the edge of the fight. It looks like the large half-orc has pinned down the tattooed human. The other humans are clearly low level street-bullies and are all working up their courage to get involved. Currently they are all ignoring Eilla and focusing on the fight.
[OOC] Eilla’s passive skills aren’t enough to determine any more and she is still new to the current situation in Waterdeep

Cat stays out of the game; she’s not one to take chances. Instead she seems content to just watch it unfold. When Kelytha arrives, the half-elf smiles wide. “Oh, Kelytha! Hello! It’s good to see you! Garl, it’s been too long!”
And it’s right around that moment she hears the fight break out and Eilla storms off toward it. “Hey, wait, Eilla! Be careful!” She calls as she tries to chase down her friend.
The tiefling girl's expression shifts to an anxious one as several people engage with her. "Oh! I...uh..um...I know...." she looks around at the group before quickly sitting down and pulling her cloak around tighter. "I...Ballen...umm...no go ahead, I'll watch." She continues look uncomfortable and anxious as the group engages in their activities. She does pull her hood aside for a moment at a few of you, like Eilla and Osborne, but otherwise keeps to herself mostly. She does watch with interest though, as well was half an eye on the rest of the room, making mental notes of the various persons in the circle.
“Alright, suit yourself. You’re welcome to join at any point if ye like”

What do you all do?
”Oh boy…”
He stands upon the table, and casts prestidigitation to make a large BOOM sound centered on the fight in an attempt to break it up. Then he yells.
Ballen watches Sinak make rounds and the curious conversation at the bar, although she can't make out what they are saying. But when the yelling begins and Eilla gets up, her attention turns to the action. She puts a hand on a small drum by her side and begins every so softly tapping out a rhythm and whispers a couple of words in infernal. Just as Eilla gets to the group, the lights around the area change from their usual reddish glow, to a sickly green, and soft, ominous sounding whispers surround the area where the fighting had started.
“Durnan, do you want us to handle this? You look tired.. It’s the same blasted thing over the last couple of weeks, everyone seems on edge, right?” Sinak nods and points to the the fight to his new companions, giving hand signals. Spotting a nearby bucket of water near the end of the bar, Sinak used mage hand to pick up the bucket of water, hold it over the heads of the thugs and then dump it on them, dropping the bucket on them and making the hand disappear after it is done. “Cool off…” he says to himself, with a smile.
Eilla looks at the human thugs and half-orc thug. Some of them are now covered in water. As Ballen works on the atmosphere, she echoes Osborne's booming question, with a level tone. "What he said... Will you kindly explain what is going on?"
The Half-Orc appears to be getting the better of her gang member. One gang member is scared by the flashing lights and the bang, she has heard too many stories of this tavern and makes for the door looking to run.
The gang member with the bucket on her head turns around in confusion, they are now blind.
The remaining two members are now looking for other attackers
No-one has drawn a weapon (except the bucket) yet.
Joel makes no move to join the fight, however he says ‘Good luck’ and casts Bardic Inspiration on Sinak

A brusque welcome, but then what had Kelytha been expecting? They hadn't been that close even when they spent nearly every day in each other's company. "Uh, sure, I'll join." A memory of a couple of years back rises to the surface, of Marines and Dockers, and raised voices, and a few raised fists. "Wouldn't be the first fight I've had to break up, would it?" she adds with a wry grin.
As Cat runs after Eilla, Kelytha runs after Cat. Eilla's a Marine, Kelytha's sure she can handle herself. But Cat is... Cat. Who knows what she does these days but she doesn't look like a fighter.
Kelytha catches up and hold an arm out in front of Cat. "It has been too long. Let's not have it end immediately with you in the infirmary." Hand gripping her sword, currently still sheathed, she waits, and prepares. Questions have been asked, water dropped, so she stays quiet, but if one of them makes a move to attack Cat, she'll respond in kind.
