Lam unconsciously makes a low growling noise after Samantha speaks, and he nods when Hemlock calls across the room with his wisdom. When Hemlock actually whispers to him, Lam nods and makes his way out of the room with Samantha to go back to Sebastian. He walks over to check on Sebastian’s restraints and see if there is anything off that he can tell.
Survival check to check on/fix Sebastian’s restraints: 16
Lamcan just barely make out that the iron rod Sebastian is bound to has loosened a little bit in its place in the stone wall, before Sebastian manages to pull it out of the wall completely, and lunges forward. His hands are still both tightly bound to the rod, limiting his fighting options to brute force and a poor improvised weapon. He is still bruised and bloodied from being overwhelmed by the kobolds just recently and his eyes are wet with tears, but violence is to be expected.
Please Roll Initiative - (Surprise against Samantha, Sha, and Saoirse, which just means they skip the first round)
Saoirse raises her eyebrows and is barely contains a laugh hearing Samantha's poor accusations:
- Oh please. I'm not even going to begin answering that bunch of nonsense from one that has her guardian enslaved, that has charmed Jonah into killing against his will and that had clear intentions of killing these kobolds herself from the very beginning. Who knows, perhaps I'm even talking to Tux Strixwell murderer. But guess who I'm not talking to? I not talking to the one that's going to - and I quote - "recover the crown, and present it to the great lord Silvia Strixwell" because I guarantee you won't leave this mine alive and we'll even burn that journal to ashes if we have to, unless you return Sebastian's speech, tell us how to free him and respond to our every question afterwards.
Just after Saoirse says the words, a commotion starts in the other side of the caves. "'Has Sebastian freed himself from the wall? Oh no, no no no....". Having to fight him was the last thing she wanted to do.
Saoirse's initiative: 10
I had intended to say this and roll an intimidation just after she spoke, but I'm not sure if I can now with what has happened. Will leave it rolled just in case. Meh, it's a 9 anyway.
Samantha looks smug, then momentarily confused, surprised, and then smug again. "You have no idea what you're dealing with. Parts of what you said were complete nonsense, which means you don't even know how a Journal of Secrets works. So please, please, don't destroy it! I will lose all my power if you do, or something. But do tell me, how in the nine hells do you know my brute's name? That, I could understand, and I can not figure out." She talks a little bit louder when the commotion starts, trying to keep your focus on her.
- Do you want a taste of my bloodline's power? I will burn every page of that damned thing if I have to. Give Sebastian his ability to speak and free him from the servitude he's been forced to, and then we can keep talking calmly. For every second you spend without doing this I will use my fire and even my blood if I have to in order to destroy that journal.
With her eyes fixed on Samantha's and flame crackling in her hand, she begins stepping back towards Hemlock and the journal.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sha is filled with a rage as Samantha attempts to derail the conversation. As Saoirse does her best to get answers, Samantha names the journal that at least is something. When Saoirse levies the assassination of Tux, Sha can’t help but recall his friend Saffi her ruby hair her involvement in this plot.
To Saoirse's insight: Samantha is trying to decieve you - she wants to get the journal back, but if she can't do that, then she wants you to destroy it. She isn't lying about not understanding some of what you said. Specifically, she did not understand what you were saying when you talked about information you got directly from the journal (that she had ordered Sebastian into silence, the whole bit about Tux Strixwell, your direct quote from the journal, all of that was nonsense to her). She recognizes that confusion though - she knows how the book works.
"Your blood, you say? A genasi, who recognizes Sebastian, and talking about the power of your blood. Can it be that you come from the same little village as my dear, sweet defender? Well then, sweetling, the True King wouldn't want you to hurt me. We're rebulding his empire, and everything he stood for! Or are you one of the ones who gave up on the order and ran away, a disgrace to your family? Hmmn?"
"You want him to speak, do you?"She shouts out, loudly and clearly: "Sebastian, tell this girl she's a disgrace to the blood of the true king, and then shut up again."
"You are a disgrace to the blood of the true king." Sebastian's voice is raspy, dry, and unnatural in his throat. You can hear that he has not said a single word in days. And yet, it is also clear form his intonation that he does not believe what he is saying. The only emotion behind it is a profoud despair.
Once @MerryMusic rolls initiative, we'll be in it.
Hássan, seeing that Sebastian has gotten free, and hearing your desire not to harm him, rushes forwards, flipping his spear over and lunging out with the blunt end. "Please resist the enchantment. None of us wish you ill!" Sebastian turns slightly, and the wood glances harmlessly off the side of his armored arm.
Sebastian then swings his two muscular arms and the iron rod bound between his wrists right at Hássan's snout, a tremendous blow that leaves the kobold staggering. He then kicks out at Hássan's gut, there is a cracking sound, and the kobold crumples into a heap on the ground. (Reduced to 0 hp, will roll death saves). Sebastian looks at Lam, ready to strike again, but his eyes are mournful and apologetic. He says nothing.
It is Hemlock's turn, then Lam (surprise round skips Saoirse Sha and Samantha). Thereafter: Sha, Hássan, Samantha, Saoirse, Sebastian, Hemlock, Lam)
Hemlock watches as Hássan is brutally smashed in the face with the rod and then kicked to the ground. He knows Saoirse asked he not be harmed, but he cannot think of a way he can help achieve that. His entangling roots would be easy for one such as him to break through.
And what good is keeping from harming him only to have him kill them all. But is it not the sorceress that forces him to attack.
He takes hold of his amulet and calls out to the sorceress, "You have one chance, sorceress. Tell Sebastian to stop and free him of your control right now or it is you that will feel the sting of radiant power".
As he says this, he draws in the power of the star map that is his amulet, and holds it ready to release at the sorceress in the form of a bolt of radiant energy.
Action: ReadyGuiding Bolt at sorceress if she does anything but as he asked on her turn Concentration: On held spell
Once again, everything happens at once before Lam can react. By the time he has fully made his way over to Sebastian, the man has freed himself from the wall and knocked out Hássan. Lam looks down at the fallen Kobold at his side and back up at Sebastian’s eyes, understanding from the apology in them that he doesn’t want to fight. The magic is forcing him to fight them. Lam looks deep into the eyes of Saoirse’s friend. He speaks in a low voice: “…Sebastian. I am trying to stop you. Fight me.”Don’t hurt any more of my friends. But I can take a few blows.
To drive his point home, he takes out his great-axe and turns it over to the blunt side. Then he takes a swing at this man he doesn’t truly want to hurt, trying to ensure there is really no way for the man to get past him.
Movement: he stays right where he is.
Free action: take out his great-axe.
Action: Non-lethal attack with his great-axe. Attack: 25, 7 damage.
Reaction: If Sebastian tries to leave his threatened area, Lam wants to take an opportunity attack- still with the blunt side of his axe for non-lethal damage. Attack: 10, 5 damage.
The side of the axe smashes powerfully against Sebastian's chest, the breastplate denting in in a way that certainly hurt the man a lot. He nods slightly at Lam,both gratitude and regret. It is Sha-Gravis' turn.

Samantha calls out: "Sebastian, don't bother fighting them, just rush in here and free me. I WILL NOT BE THREA---"
Hemlock's Guiding bolt: 20 to hit (advantage); 10 damage.
Sha-Gravis' Alauptram (warhammer, 2 hands): 21 to hit (advantage); 6 damage
Her shout is interrupted by a bolt of radiant energy, and a hammer momentarily afterwards, both slamming into her. She takes the damage, and her smug determination falls away to simple pain. She is bloodied, but hanging on to consciousness. "You would attack me while I am disarmed, bound and blinded, and call yourselves just?" She turns to look at Saoirse."If I die, Sebastian will, too."
The flame Saoirsewas keeping in her hand disappears the moment she realizes Samantha's attempt to trick her into destroying the journal, but at the same time the every bit of fire in the genasi's appearance intensifies, matching the growing rage she's feeling with every word pronounced by the sorceress. Her hair and tattoos seem to be flaring and her eyes look like burning charcoal in her otherwise ashen frame.
- How DARE you? - she replies loudly, her voice full of anger - How dare you mention my family, my order and the True King when you are mocking everything they stand for? Building his empire? No empire worth building will ever be based in foundations such as murder, slavery and lies. It is you who are disgrace and I will allow none of this for as long as there's blood running through my veins - she's interrupted for a moment when she hears Sebastian speaking, whose words she receives as painfully as if she had been actually been punched, but she grits her teeth and continues - I will repeat this for the last time: stop this already and free him and you'll have the chance to see the light of day. If you don't, you will never leave this mine alive. We were told to judge you, and this is our decission. And I will take the matter into my own hands without a second thought if I have to.
As she's saying this, Hemlockand Sha's attacks hit the sorceress hard, and when she says that Sebastian will die along with her Saoirse feels her determination shattering. She stares at the woman for a moment but despite the ache in her heart says:
- ... I'm certain he prefers dying than to be bound in servitude to you for any minute longer...
Insight check: 10.
The genasi then approaches the witch, and though with this movement she begins forgetting the contents of the journal once again, she knows exactly what she wants to do. So she cuts her hand with the dagger and from the orange vital liquid covering the weapon's edge a crackling of lightning appears:
- Do you hear that, Samantha? If I have to become lightning to finish you, and to let him rest, then ... so be it.
Bonus action:Crimsom Rite on the dagger (adding 1d4 lightning damage to the dagger's damage). Saoirse takes 1d4 (2) necrotic damage to activate this.
Movement: updated the token to be close to Samantha.
Action: Intimidate Samantha to make her stop. Rolled a NAT 20!!! ... for a total of 19.
Free action: Unsheathe the rapier to have both weapons ready.
I'm not really sure if that intimidation is an action but with that, and needing to grab the rapier to have both weapons ready, I don't think I can attack (or ready an attack) in this turn. In case I got this wrong and I do have an action yet, then I guess I'll ready a non-lethal attack for Sebastian, as it seems his next move is going to be to try to free the witch.
(Saoirse doesn't remember information from the journal - although she doesn't need to for anything she's just said).
Samantha's eyes widen as she realizes that Saoirse is willing to let Sebastian die if it means dealing with her - she seems to be telling truth about him dying if she does. She prepares to change tactics again, and is successfully intimidated... but she won't have time for a full response until her turn - everything is happening at once.
Sebastian, heeding his master's orders, pushes past Lam, jumping over Hássan, and then running past his own shield. Lam swings the axe after him, but the blunt side of the weapon does no harm, pushing Sebastian in the direction he was moving anyway. He forces his way past Saoirse and gets right up next to Samantha, lifting her blindfold with his own bound hands, and turns to try to free her from the wall - when it's his turn again. Samantha looks quite dissapointed when she notices that Sebastian is still unarmed, and limited in his dexterity, even more of her smugness fading.
Hemlock watches as Sebastian follows the instructions of his sorceress, totally without a will of his own.
"You would have us believe you are defenceless sorceress, but you wield Sebastian as clearly and lethally as any soldier wielding a sword. Lay down your weapon or you will die", he says.
He then sends another bolt of radiant energy from his amulet at her, not letting up on the attack until she does as she has been instructed.
With that done, he moves across to on Hássan, hoping to find him still breathing.
Action: Cast Guiding Bolt using his star map at Samantha - To Hit (advantage as restrained): (11, 17)+5=22, Damage: 3+4+5+5=17 Movement: 15ft to the end directly to the right of Hássan, not getting in Lam's way Free Action: Check if he is alive (if this allowed as a free action - thinking if he is moaning, blood is seeping as if his heart is beating, if his chest is rising and falling etc. Understand if this is an action to use medicine)
Lam growls with frustration as Sebastian gets new orders and leaves, and he is unable to stop him with his axe. He is left playing catch-up, and runs to join the action, growling as he does. He is losing words to these noises, and there is a hint of a wild gleam in his eyes as he regards Samantha with hatred, but he has not fully lost it yet.
Movement+action= dash to right below Sebastian, next to Saoirse.
When the guiding bolt hits her, Samanthaconvulses, and then slumps down, hanging seemingly lifelessly from her bound hands. When she drops, Sebastian starts to choke, and brings his bound hands towards his neck, unable to reach or claw at the collar which is tightening around his throat.
Hemlockis relieved to hear that Hássan is drawing ragged breath, and is not dead yet.
Saoirsecan remember the contents of the journal again - everyone can at the moment.
