As Fred's normal shape starts to reform after the owlbears attack, the shrinking of the cat figure gives Progo a clear shot. There you are. As the owlbear hesitates just for a moment as if waiting for Fred to completely transform, Progo let's the arrow fly. Progo sees the owlbear's eyes flicker towards the arrow just as the arrow goes feathers deep into the left eyesocket. A quick rear of its head and tumble to the earth was all the owlbear had left. "That's what you get for trying ti jump Progo and Co."
As he lowers the bow Progo looks at the group and says, "how about those rings?" He holds his hand out to the side to show the torn leather smeared in Progo's own blood.
The massive beast settles in a heap on the forest floor. A gentle breeze rustles the tree tops. The dappled sunlight plays over its now still body. The dark maw of a cave lies before you. You hear nothing but your own heavy breathing and the beating of your heart in your ears…
"Progo thinks a good little rest should suffice and get us acquainted better with our equipment and party. Best save hocus pocus healing when we don't think rest is an option. Unless it's just Progo, then Progo can lead from the back and might take hocus pocus while we can continue."
“I’m thinking either Progo or I should take the lead into the darkness. Progo, because he looks pretty sneaky or me, to weather any surprise dangers we may stumble upon.” (Danger Sense)
Progo will draw his rapier, check the mouth of cave again with a new appreciation of things jumping out at them! Prog will take the lead and will try to be stealthy creeping through the cave until he sees an open area.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Thalron repeatedly grips and loosens his grasp of his great axe as he tries to silently follow Progo. (If he is less than successful, he’ll fall back slightly. But not so far that he couldn’t be within melee in an instant.)
You can tell that the cave's mouth has recently been visited by several small creatures, a few very small creatures, the Thessalhydra and the Owlbear you just defeated. Within the entrance of the cave is an open antechamber with stalactites clinging to the ceiling. The room is fifteen feet deep and twenty-five feet wide. The room has an irregular shape to it revealing that it is a natural cave, the rough-hewn walls showing eons of erosion. There I nothing of interest here. The floor becomes too rocky to follow any footprints or markings. The mouth of the cave lies to the south. You can see a passage to the West, one to the North and one to the East. Natural light fills the room from the mouth, but, being that there is no other light, the tunnels off of the room are obscured by darkness. A hollow echo of wind and the distant, regular dripping of water can barely be heard over the silence...
Thalron wants to study the floor. Something as massive as a multi-headed monster dragging an enormous tail should leave evidence of its passing. Loose stones brushed aside, drag marks, blood stains, etc.

Savitri sighed and cleaned her blade, " Strange that two large predators are lairing so close to each other."
" Good shot though."
“Aye, that was a nice shot.” Thalron nods.
”I agree that a short rest before continuing the hunt would be good.”

Alright, go ahead and take a short rest. Spend any hit dice and attune to your rings. That puts us at about 10-10:30 am.
What do you want to do next?
(Thalron uses 1 of 3 hit dice to bolster himself: 10 restored hp.)

Okay, are you proceeding into the mouth of the cave quietly?
Progo will draw his rapier, check the mouth of cave again with a new appreciation of things jumping out at them! Prog will take the lead and will try to be stealthy creeping through the cave until he sees an open area.
