“Oh now, settle down, Papa Virro is here, settle down tut tut! I put the last of those ghastly creatures down with my crossbow, come on out of the cupboard now, all will be well.” Virro looks his best holding his crossbow to be reassuring and not so scary.
Corlith moves to stand blocking the young girls view of the Ghast bodies littering the floor of the room as much as possible, and smiles at the young girl. He lets Papa Virro channel his inner Wilfred though.
"Might be worth checking the rest of the house, there may be others hiding too", he suggests to Reed and the others.
IronMaiden puts a hand out gesturing calm, "Indeed, Archie is fine but allowed me to fight in her stead, I think she is starting to become aware of my wants and restlessness as I have been aware of hers. The group is fine we encountered and terminated four seemingly undead beings. They were... Eating. We shall be moving soon, have there been any signs of movement out here?"
The little girl looks from Virro to Corlith and back again. She then looks back to Corlith's horns, and starts to shrink back a bit. But as Virro sets back the crossbow and tries his best to be persuasive (15), she slowly nods and crawls out of the cupboard.
Seeing the family at the table she outright wails and runs to Virro and buries her face in his leg. Sobs wracking the poor girls body.
Outside:
"Interesting how you two have learned to deal with the situation. I'm glad to hear it, I just wonder if there is anything we can do. Oh, no, it's been quiet out here. The rest ready to move on? We need to get to High Hall." Reya looks beyond and can see a small bridge connecting the East side to the West side of Elturel.
Archie and myself have connected a little more since the installation of the secondary source, I feel that a mental or emotional grudge, or maybe a better word is disgruntlement... anyway it has been lifted now that I am not directly responsible for her actively being terminated, at least for now."
IronMaiden takes a look toward high hall and then back to harkin and the kids, having an idea they look through Archie's pouch and then seem disappointed "I have little of entertainment value, would you children perhaps like a small knife to play with?"
The kids eyes go wide as they look from IronMaiden to their mother. Harkina looks at IronMaiden sternly, "Please, refrain from giving my children anything. Thank you."
As the group files out of the house, little girl in tow, Harkina walks up to Virro and squats down. "Why you look familiar, what's your name? Mine is Harkina, and my sons over there are Ezo and Brask."
The little girl peaks out at the woman, still clinging to Virro's pant leg and answers, "My name is Shorah Hevrun. I'm staying with this one. My mum and dad... they... died." and she starts crying again.
Reya starts leading the group off, impatient to get to High Hall and as they turn the corner the situation between the west and east sides becomes more apparent. A rift in the earth divides Elturel into two sections. The riotous din of the battle taking place far below the city is louder here, echoing up and through the jagged open chasm.
A bridge twenty feet wide and more than a hundred feet long spans the chasm. Holy runes etched into the stonework of the bridge indicate that the structure has been consecrated in the name of Torm, god of courage and self-sacrifice. Six infernal creatures stand guard at the center of the bridge, scanning in all directions.
Approaching the chasm IM sees to it that the kids and Harkina are once again out of line of sight of the infernal creatures before giving the group a nod and waiting to lead them to the fight.
Corlith tries to remain out of sight whist he watches the six figures on the bridge, distracted somewhat by the battle seemingly going on below them.
"Is everyone ready for another fight?", he whispers, as he tries to get a view on what is across the bridge. "I have some magic that might prove useful if we decide to go down the frontal assault route".
Reed looks at the bridge for a moment then over to Reya.
"Does that mean anything?" Reed asks, pointing out the runes. He looks around at the others, eyes linger on the magic-types. "Runes sometimes have power, right?"
He looks back to the bridge then back to Reya. "Do those runes do anything?"
Virro pats the little girl on the head, saying “There, there, little Shorah. You stay with us. We will protect you and keep you safe until we find shelter. We have a few tricks up our sleeve to deal with these ruffians, my child. Elturel is fallen and needs to be fixed. We’ll fix it right up and bright it topside, don’t you worry.” He points to the dark Companion overhead, “Perhaps there’s a light that won’t light on one side. We’ll fix it up here, and then take it back there….:”. Virro rambles off, musing still about the dark Companion overhead.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Roo's feathers puff up as he sneaks up next to Corlith.
"I'm always ready for a good scrap!" Roo says, making himself look as menacing as possible. He takes a moment to preen at some singed feathers and scabbing injuries, healing himself up a little. He adjusts the various beards he has recently acquired before getting himself into position. "Alright, let's do it! Someone, announce as loud as you can that Roo' Stor, First of His Name, Ruler of the Gallus, Banisher of the Dark, The Spurs in the Darkness, Taker of Beards and Punisher of the Blasphemous is ready to do battle! Buck! Also, tell them that their mother is fat!"
He nodded his head in his bobbing way, agreeing with himself.
Reya looks closer to what Reed is pointing out and nods, "Yes... I mean I don't know much about them, but I have seen them glow before?"
Shorah clings close as Virro pats her head and right as he looks up to the Companion, lightning strikes from it's center and crackles across the sky lighting up the building they just passed on the corner. Shorah whimpers and her nails start digging into Virro's thigh.
Hearing Roo'Stor's mantra Reya turns back towards the bridge, sidling up next to her avarian companion. Drawing her sword she grins at him, and then turns back to the others, "Y'all ready yet?"
IronMaiden takes Roo by the shoulder stopping him from rushing out prematurely and then sticks a small lever on the Gallus' back, infusing it with artificer magic IM flips the switch and stands back as Roo grows 4x as big, into a large creature, "I shall do the honours. Prepare to attack."
Once everyone has prepared the buffs they wish to apply, IronMaiden steps out into the roadway leading to the bridge and begins to approach, loudly stating, "All devils and their Fat Featherless Mothers will know of Roo'Stor, First of His Name, Ruler of the Gallus, Banisher of the Dark, The Spurs in the Darkness, Taker of Beards and Punisher of the Blasphemous, and you have the honour of defending yourselves against him now, for he and his crew are ready for battle!"
Virro pulls tight the black glove on his right hand and says “I’m ready..” twirling his fingers and readying a spell as he plans to approach the devils. “One moment…”. Virro casts protection from evil and good on himself, then squats down to get eye to eye with Shorah, saying “Wait here while we take care of those bad devils on the bridge, then we will all cross.” He holds his finger up to his mouth in a “shhh” manner, then gets prepared to run in, prepared to cast spells as he goes. He puts away his crossbow.

Corlith takes out one of his many flasks of Holy Water and walks up to Roo and Reya, anointing them both and protecting them.
After Ironmaiden enlarges Roo, and makes their proclamation, he whispers to him and Reya, "Give me the nod when ready, and I will send you both directly in amongst them".
"And Roo. Give them hell...well, more hell! Start with the big bearded one!", pepping him up to be ready to attack as soon as he appears.
When and if they are ready, Roo and Reya bamph out, and appear next to the fiends flanking the bigger bearded one.

Reed pauses as his companions get ready to fight. He looks at Lulu as if listening to her then nods.
"Okay. I'm all for killing these devils. But maybe we can get a little help from the bridge," Reed says. "Reya's seen the runes glow. Lulu thinks a prayer to this god, Torm, might be the key. Anyone know any prayers to Torm?"
He looks at Reya and the mom and kids in particular.
Reed wraps his new cloak around him, deciding this is as good a time as any to test it out, the little rogue takes a breath.
"I can climb under and check them out closer," Reed says.
Taking a moment to center himself, he feels Corlith's hand on his shoulder and feels an extra calm flow his body at the offered guidance.
Trusting to the cloak to keep him from falling, Reed slips out from hiding and over the edge of the ravine, walking quickly and quietly to get under the bridge, walking along its underside like he was walking on top. If he gets there undetected, he'll reach over and place his hand on the runes and whisper what he thinks of as an adequate prayer to a good of courage.

When Reed returns to give the all clear, he nods, "Time we weren't here either then". With that he leaves the house, ready to move on.
