A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Reed walks along the side of the bridge, enjoying the 'stickiness' his new cloak gives that allows him to walk on the sides of structures the same as if he was walking normally. He looks down at the battle below again before walking up and over on to the main flat surface of the bridge, retrieves one of his arrows that isn't broken then proceeds to poke around in the pockets and pouches of the devils for anything of interest.
He nods over towards the side of the bridge as he does. "So it looks like demons and devils are fighting each other down there."
Ironmaiden lets the crackling lightning subside and calls over to the group, "I shall see you again soon, someone has questions about these runes" and with that, the suit of armour slouches slightly as the amber glow returns under the visor. As a result Roo also shrinks down to a 'normal' size.
Archie gives the group a wave and looks toward the piles of devil remains. "You guys had fun!?"
Corlith looks across the bridge as the runes light up, and watches the fiends start being zapped. When they have all been disposed of, he spots Reed move over to search the bodies.
"Well what do you know, you were right, Reed. Those runes did turn out to be useful. Demons and Fiends fighting? I wonder if that is the norm down here, or if something special is going on", he says and joins the halfling. "Find anything useful?", he adds.
When Ironmaiden gives way to Archie, he just motions around them, "See for yourself. A glowing bridge of fiend destruction".
At Corlith's gesture, Archie begins looking around taking in the runes and such, "oh Torm, wait I've read about him somewhere hang on" bringing out her book on god's and their realms she reads "Torm the true, god of duty and patron god of paladins, member of the Triad... Hmmm i figure it's not odd to find a god of duty in Elturel, especially with their Hellriders.
Lulu you're celestial and part of those riders, are there any other gods or helpful relics or runes that might help us with the fiends?"
With that asked Archie copies down the runes on the bridge, not having any spare paper with her she simply uses magical tinkering to have the runes appear in small script over the IronMaiden's breastplate.
Roo shrinks down and struts, his chest puffed out as he looks about at the liberated bridge.
"Torm, god of paladins!?" He says, incensed and seemingly putting the battle won only moments before behind them. "Gallus is the god of this paladin! Buck! Who commits this nonsense to paper!?"
He looks at Harkina and the kids that join them.
"How much further to the...to the..." He pauses, head cocking side to side, stirring the beard sitting on his head. "...to the uh...buck...the uh..."
"I think it's more the general idea of paladins, perhaps he's like the patron of oathtaking, no matter the god, right? I'm not particularly religious myself, it seems risky these days." Archie answers Roo whilst she gestures around at the state of Elturel. "Anyway, onward?"
Shorah comes scampering over the bridge and wraps her arms around Virro's leg very tightly, that he staggers a bit at her voracity.
Harkina and the twins follow behind the girl as the woman looks at the bridge with a new sense of wonder. "I had no idea it could do that! But to answer your question, yes, I know the way to High Hall." Reya puts away her swords and nods, "As do I and I would rather I lead and you and your little ones stay protected within the group." She says warmly. Then turning and heading off the bridge, she starts leading the group towards the large fortress that clings to the side of the cavern.
As you start walking on the western half of Elturel you can see more people milling about, though hesitantly. The fires still burn and the buildings are in a crumbling state, the ashclouds that you walk through from time to time sting your eyes. The people you see do tend to cling to the shadows, obviously aware of and nervous of your party as you walk down the streets. But soon you notice a few people about 60 feet behind you all start to follow you.
You turn a corner, into a small alleyway, thinking that would lose them - but instead the crowd seems to have grown. You can see from where you are that they are humanoids, they mainly look like humans from where you stand, but it has grown to about 20 people now.. and they are chanting.
Reya stops the group and stares at the growing spectators, they stop then as well, but more continue to join them. And after another lighting hit from the Companion that lights up the sky, the chant carries over to the group.
Roo stops, his feather's bristling as he looks around, taking a second to exchange glances with the others before hopping up onto the nearest pile of rubble to have a look around at the people gathering and chanting.
Pride swells his chest, and he puffs himself out, showing off the shimmering brilliance of Fog' Horn's beautiful armor. He lets all see it before raising feathered hands to draw the attention, and quiet, of the small crowd.
"Buck! I am not Fog' Horn, he who was the best of us!" He says, standing up as straight as he possibly can. "I am his disciple, Roo' Stor, apostle of Gallus, the bringer of light and giver of life, and acolyte of Strix, the predator in the dark! I have come here with my friends..."
He gestures to the rest of the party with his feathered hands, letting his gaze fall upon them; Corlith, Reya, Archie, Virro, Reed. His friends. His flock.
"...to free Elturel from the grips of the blasphemers and return her, and all of you, to the gaze of the all high Gallus once again! It is with sad tidings, though, that I report that Fog' Horn has fallen in this same endeavor, forever one now with the light of Gallus. Weshall finish his work. Tell us, friends, buck!, what you know of Fog' Horn? I would seek to know his mark here, so I can follow in his footsteps!"
Corlith simply watches on, intrigued as to how a Gallus they found dead underneath Baldur's Gate has managed to become some kind of folk hero to the people of Elturel. He scans the crowd for any sign of insignia or symbol of a faction.
As Corlith and Reed check out the crowd, as soon as Roo climbs upon the rubble and shows off his armor, the crowd immediately drops to their knees.
When Roo says he isn't Fog'Horn though, looks of confusion and a wave of murmurs wash over the crowd as they look to each other and back to the rooster on the rubble. Before any have a chance to wonder why this imposter is wearing Fog'Horn's armor however, Roo does explain and pacifies the unsure group. They look to Roo's friends as he points them out then back to the speaker.
Once Roo asks what Fog'Horn had done for them, a man slowly rises from the group. As he does you get a better look at the group and see they all look malnourished, filthy and wearing basically rags. He slowly walks a bit forward, then coughs a bit to get his voice. Wavering at first, he answers Roo, "Fog'Horn. The great rooster saved us. Our town is West of Elturel and well, it was ravaged by bandits. Fog'Horn came and he and a few other.. um... Gallus?.. well they killed all the bandits before they could kill us."As he says this, the group starts murmuring Fog'Horn's name again. "Unfortunately by that time the bandits had burned our buildings and burned our fields. We made our way to Elturel to start a new life? Just in time for it to be taken into Avernus." He looks down as he says this obviously feeling beaten down.
Reed's mind wanders back to what the group just did for his own village.
"You're not so different from old FogHorn," Reed says to Roo. "You should lead this group up to the stronghold. Maybe the walls will give them some protection."
"Yes yes, you are right." He says gently, his head tilting back toward the Featherless on their knees before him. "Thank you for enlightening me, buck! But I have another question. You said more Gallus? Where are these Gallus now? And was this the last time you saw Fog' Horn?"
Archie feels very tall all of a sudden. Everyone in sight is on their knees and the armour giving her already lanky form an additional foot. She crouches slightly, which could be seen by the group of survivors as some kind of reverence to Roo, but she doesn't notice or mind.
Looking back to Harkina and the kids, she whispers, "look how many have survived up here, I think it might be safer this side of the bridge for you guys"

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Spined devil D looks angry and a little bloodied after Virros attack.
Devil A looks around and the bridge lights up, turning him to dust.
Lulu and Reya, noting that the bridge is handling the remaining devils quite nicely, both dodge.
The last devil, D, is no match for the bridge.
The guardians of the bridge are gone.
Reed walks along the side of the bridge, enjoying the 'stickiness' his new cloak gives that allows him to walk on the sides of structures the same as if he was walking normally. When Ironmaiden gives way to Archie, he just motions around them, "See for yourself. A glowing bridge of fiend destruction".
“Excellent..”. Virro says as he watches the electricity arc from his fingertips, a new skill that he’s enjoying. “Perhaps we should press on?”
A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Reed pushes away the infernal glaives with a booted foot while he searches the bodies, not wanting anything to do with those.
“Not sure about those. They seem nasty.”
Reed heads to the other end of the bridge to scout for any trouble.
”Which way now?” He shouts to the mom and the kids.
At Corlith's gesture, Archie begins looking around taking in the runes and such, "oh Torm, wait I've read about him somewhere hang on" bringing out her book on god's and their realms she reads "Torm the true, god of duty and patron god of paladins, member of the Triad... Corlith wanders over to Harkina and the children, "Come, it is safe to cross. Apparently the gods have not abandoned Elturel and its people just yet".
With that, he directs them across the bridge, hoping Harkina can answer Reed's question about the direction they should take next.
