Virro takes the time to rest, pulling out a book from his pack and reading through it while he rests, focusing his mind. He is not injured , but he uses the time in concentration and focus. (Arcane recovery for a level 1 slot.). He stands after the hour passes and looks into the room examining the altar.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Corlith walks up the dais to the large fist that is the altar on top. After a moment's hesitation, the tiefling pulls the lever adjacent to it and the fist opens up to show an open palm that faces up to the ceiling.
Reed pulls the curtain open further and a look of disgust crosses his face. In the next area there's an altar to Torm whose features have been defaced with blood, ichor, and torn strips of flesh lashed together with sinew and intestines.
"These devils and bandits are really bad," Reed says unable to use better vocabulary. "I think we need to kill them all.'
He looks at Reya and lowers his voice as he speaks to some of the others.
"the bodies around it, I believe this hand may have been used to give offering to Torm, though I'm not sure if sacrifices are apt for the god of paladins, though I may be wrong. The question is what would Torm regard as an appropriate offering?" Iron maiden addresses the group but turns to Lulu, sure that the celestial may know more.
Virro stands back in surprise as the fist opens up toward the ceiling. He backs away from the altar, regarding it from afar, seeming to lose interest in it. He walks over to Reed, nodding when he talks about the devils and says to him. “I agree, we need to kill them all….”

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Reya has been standing back and watching the others check out the altar. The bodies that litter the ground in the private chapel areas are what were worrying her and she was just about to go look at them, see if she recognized anyone or found anything when she hears Reed's words. She spins around and looks at the halfling. "You're wrong. There have to be survivors here. This place is big, we've only found the main level. There is upstairs and I know there is a catacombs as well. We just need to keep searching." She turns back to the bodies and starts walking towards them. "See.. the blood here, it is fresh.."
"Whoo, killing all these cretins really takes the wind out of you eh?" He says, before perking up to Ironmaiden's observation. "Oh, that means we could kill them again!"
He sits down then, as the others do, and tucks his head under his wing for a moment.
Corlith stares at the open palm for a moment longer, wondering what rituals might be performed on it and what offerings had been made. He looks to see if there are any blood stains on the palm that would show if rituals contained a harmful element after Ironmaiden's thought on sacrifices.
"Well, if there were sacrifices, I expect they would have left a mark", he says. "Although there is not exactly a shortage of blood around here anyway"
When talk turns to survivors, he looks back towards the others.
"It certainly looked like a large building from outside, and there may be other protected areas, like the bridge. Torm's power still works here at least, that is a positive"
Even as he speaks, a frown crosses Corlith's face and turns back to the open palm of the large statue, reaching into the centre of it. Anyone who is watching will see him opening a large panel in it's centre.
"Ok, there seems to be some stairs here", he says peering down.
Reed takes a look down the staircase, raises an eyebrow at Corlith, and tries to quietly go down a little to see if he can see anything (Stealth: 7+11 = 18)
Roo hears what is happening and hops up, moving close to Corlith while Reed goes to investigate.
"Reed, you are very brave. It is an admirable trait, and Gallus will award you for it someday. Just remember, if you find trouble, scream, really loud, and I'll come running!"
Virro is amazed by the stairs, and then he sees Reed going right forward, without a thought for his own safety, to investigate. “Wait for me..” he says softly, then gathers his cloak and shield around himself, he follows behind Reed, not wanting to leave him alone. He stays back a distance, but wants to be close enough to hear / see him. He walks down the stairs, looking and listening for danger.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Reed looks back up from where he's looked ahead around the corners. He takes a step back to Virro.
"At the bottom, the hallway branches and staircases go down both sides." Reed whispers. "No sound from either side. We should get the others."
He waits a moment - if Virro has another idea he'll wait to hear it, otherwise he'll trot up the stairs and tell the others there's no sound from below so they might as well come down.
Knowing what they are like with stealth, IronMaiden stays near the palm waiting for the all clear, they cast reya an unobservable look, something about what she said effecting something or someone in the back of their mind.
As the group follows Reed and Virro down the many stairs, they end up in a chamber that has pathways to the north and the south. In the area against the eastern wall is a small isolated tomb. The body of a young woman lies on the bier, a gleaming greatsword at her side. A feeling of peace and almost... determination.. settles upon you all as the torches in this area light up the room.
Reya cautiously walks up to the woman lying upon the bier. She reaches out a bit, almost as if to touch her, and then takes her hand back. She lowers her head in silent prayer and then turns back to the rest of you. Sorrow, but yet, hope upon her face.
"I think.. oh I am sure of it. Yes, this is the unknown woman that saved Elturel all those years ago. Before we had a Companion." She frowns a bit at the mention of the now source of constant lightning, but shakes her head and continues, "Before the companion there was a red dragon that tormented the city and it's people. One day this woman shows up and single-handedly slays the dragon. The story told makes it sound incredible, she completely stuns the creature as she slashes away at it. The story goes that once the dragon lay slain, the people from Elturel cheer and run up to this unknown woman to thank her, to ask where she came from and how she was able to accomplish such a feat."
She pauses here, a bit for dramatic effect, "But the woman fell dead as they approached. No one was ever to know her name or thank her for her great deed. She has since been placed here and as you can see, she has never decomposed. This is her greatsword and rumors suggest that she was an incarnation of Torm, or that Torm’s essence filled the woman and inspired her to defeat the threat." She shrugs and the smile slowly returns as she turns back towards the body. "I am very glad to lay eyes upon this great woman."
Reed eyes the dead woman and lack of rot, then looks at the sword, raising an eyebrow. "That's probably magic if she slew a dragon," Reed suggests. "Right? Probably be useful getting this city back up top and stopping any more from being dragged down."
It's too big for him to deal with, but he does check out the area for anything else that might be portable and of interest.
