Reed shrugs and smiles then taps a finger against his temple.
"Just trying to see if you're a person or one of those clockwork mechanical things," Reed says. "Though right now I'm leaning towards a little of column A and a little of column B."
Mortlock answers Reed, "I'm sure you'll find Amrik at the Low Lantern Tavern, it's where he spends most of his time."
He is making his way out when the words from Wilfred hit him. His shoulders rise almost as if the words cut him a bit and he shakes his head. Slowly turning around and gripping his greatclub he nods. "You're right. I am no coward." He levels with the rest of you, "It won't be easy, he fights nasty and I'll take you straight to him as I'm pretty sure I know where he is hiding, its where all three members plan their attacks in the city above."
Giving a last look at The IronMaiden with a bit of confusion and worry, he asks the others, "She alright to continue on?"
Mortlock leads them back through the secret door, sloshing through the thigh high sewer water and turns the corner heading West. Beyond the hall, a flooded chamber opens up with rough-hewn steps climbing to the south, north, and northeast. The floor buckles up above the water line in the middle of the room, forming a small island. Corpses and doused torches float in the water around the island.
Ignoring the scene in front of him, Mortlock heads straight for the north set of stairs, taking them two at a time. Checking that you're all still behind him as he gets to the top, he stands back, letting you all enter the area.
Burned torch stubs litter the floor of this hall, the western end of which is occupied by three six foot tall, painted wooden statues. Each statue stands atop a two foot high block of red stone, making it look taller and more foreboding.
The center statue resembles a heavily armored man whose face is hidden behind the fearsome visor of his helmet. He's painted red except for his right gauntlet, which is black. Clutched in this gauntlet is a blood-red spear, pointed upward. The statue to the north depicts a purple-garbed male noble wearing a harlequin mask and holding a dagger behind his back. The statue to the south portrays a black-robed skeleton with its jaw opened wide and its bony hands outstretched.
The man is standing in front of the statues in the room, his sputtering torch lying on the floor near his feet.
Roo spends more time in uncharacteristic silence than before as he contemplates what has happened in the dungeon, and then what is going to happen. He follows Mortlock, quietly riding along on Glory of Morning, steeling his resolve even as they arrive at the room.
He's first through the door, Glory of Morning's reins in the hand that hefts the shield, his other hand clenching tighter and tighter along the hilt of his sword as he slowly starts to circle around toward the left side of the room.
"Buc buc buuuh..." Roo quips as he moves along, keeping a sharp eye on his quarry. "What's your name? Was it Vaaz? Ah, who am I kidding. Buck. It doesn't matter what your name is. Because here shortly we're going to erase it from history. Grind it into the dust with our scaled feet. Just like Nebra. Just like everyone else we've found in this Gallus forsaken hovel of yours. We can do it the easy way, or we can do it the hard way. But before we go any further, I demand to know something."
Roo uses the tip of his sword to tap the gleaming armor he now wears.
"One of my kind was back there in one of the wretched boxes you people are so fond of putting the dead in. He was wearing this. You tell me how he got here, and we may be able to come to a different arrangement."
He looks over his shoulder at the rest of his party.
"Anyone else have questions?"
Roo Intimidation Roll to force answers from Vaaz: 24
Corlith hadn't expected Mortlock to be so pro-active in leading them to Vaaz, but follows along toward the rear of the party, content that the sooner they deal with the assassin the sooner they can be out of this sewer water infested maze.
As the group files into the room with the statues, he takes a look around. No doubt the statues depict the three dead gods.
He smiles as Roo takes the lead in questioning Vaaz, and when the Gallus looks around and asks if anyone else has a question, he steps forward a little. Not so far as to be ahead of those more martially minded of course.
"I would suggest your demand be answered before any more is asked of this, Vaaz", he says to Roo.
The man hisses at the party as they enter, his tongue then waggles out through the skull of his face. As Roo 'Stor rides his possum towards him and declares his intention with sword in hand, there is something about the rooster, something so bold and out of character that the man is not used to dealing with, it trips him up a bit and he falters.
"Your kind. your kind you say? In a box. Oh yesss" he hisses again, slowly regaining his composure, but continues to answer, "That creature, your kind, has been in the box since I have been down here. I suppose you care to join him?" he raises his daggers...
"Dibs! Dibs on them daggers guys! I need some more light weapons, so once the midget is dead, I'm calling those daggers!" Archie yells out to the group as she takes out her hammer preparing for the fight.
Virrro pipes up as he unlocks the latch to his crossbow, “Hey uh, Vaaz, can you show me your fingers? I’m just wondering how they will look in my pouch, or if I’ll need to get a bigger pouch, you know.”

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
"Ok, you're not being helpful. I guess we'll have to take your daggers, your fingers then your life the slightly less easy way. Time to die, Vaaz. You can tell your employers how you failed when we send them to meet you in hell!", Corlith says, lacing his words with spite and venom.
He then backs up a little to give the others a bit more space.
Action: Cast Vicious Mockery on Vaaz. DC15 Wis save or take 4 psychic damage and have disadvantage on the next attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn. Movement: 1oft East, 5ft North to behind where Reed currently is.
Vaaz easily shakes off Corlith's spell, but does not step out of the way fast enough before the bolt grazes his ear.
With a throaty growl, the man moves forward 5' and attacks Roo, missing his first jab, but the second sinks in. Roo feels the aura of murder that Mortlock mentioned before, must be something with Bhaal? and the damage is more... (dam 16)
He then stares the rooster down, attempting to use his Stunning Gaze
As Vaaz steps forward, Wilfred's glaive strikes out at them, but not enough to stop what happens to Roo'.
"Roo', get up. Get up, a little jab like that, and you fall..... ROO'" At the sight of his new friend falling, Wilfred goes into a whirlwind of attacks, stepping forward and swinging his glaive wildly, moving past his limits.
Reaction: To Hit 16, Damage 8 Slashing Action: To Hit 10, Damage 6 Slashing Action Surge: To Hit 21, Damage 14 Slashing Bonus: To Hit 10, Damage 6 Bludgeoning
Vaaz socket holes for eyes appear to open a bit wider as he didn't realize he would be in the man with the bloody pirates hat's reach. As the onslaught of blows rain down on him, he is able to dodge half of them, getting sliced up a bit.
Mortlock, keeping his safe distance from the flayed faced man, pulls out his heavy crossbow, but unfortunately misses with the bolt.
Archie steps forward and begins loudly berating the small skullfaced guy, "hey *******, you don't get to choke our chicken! How dare you! Now me and these guys are gonna make you regret that, I'll be back to deal with you in a second..." She leans down and picks up the limp cock stepping away from the group's adversary. She backs up and puts Roo down just behind Virro, in the stairway the entrance to the room. Placing a hand on Roo'stor's chest, the flames in her gauntlet lick out and infuse life back into him as glory of morning watches on.
Cure wounds for 6hp healing to Roo, and movement dragging his ass back behind Virro to the stairs.
Reed keeps quiet, focusing on Skull-Face, he had hoped to use Wilfred as a distraction but the big man doesn't get close enough and Roo goes down as well. Hmm, well, at least there's no one in the way to hit by accident, Reed thinks to himself as he pulls the string of his bow taut and lets the arrow fly.
He then slips forward into the shadows, staying in darkness and using Wilfred as a bit of cover as well.
Action: Short Bow - (4+6) = 10 to hit for (5+4) = 9 damage.
"Is that the best you've got?!" Roo says as quickly as Archie revives him. He looks absolutely furious as he resaddles himself and spurs Glory of Morning back into the room. He moves as far back into the room as he can, trying to pin Vaaz between himself and Wilfred while keeping a window open for ranged attacks. He jukes to the left of Vaaz and slashes with his shortsword.
Corlith watches as the carnage ensues, with Roo getting knocked down only to be revived by Archie. And other than a few decent hits, his allies seem to be struggling to connect with Vaaz.
"Ok, let's see if we can stack this in our favour a little", he says, and reaches out and lends his aid to Roo, Wilfred and Reed. As he does so, he calls across to Roo, "And again, show them what you are made of".
Action: Cast Bless on Roo, Wilfred and Reed. Special: Voice of Authority for Roo - If you cast a spell with a spell slot of 1st level or higher and target an ally with the spell, that ally can use their reaction immediately after the spell to make one weapon attack against a creature of your choice that you can see. Concentration: Bless - Roo, Reed and Wilfred - Round 1/10
Virro steps out as he loads another bolt in his crossbow and he shoots at Vaaz, aiming for his chest this time. “I want to hear a sucking sound in your chest. C’mon!”
Light crossbow : 17 to hit, for 9 points of piercing damage.

As the others ask the man questions, Reed scans the entry ways, trying to make sure no one is hiding in wait to support Vaaz.
