Reya doesn't know what to think of the situation with Archie, but she finds herself getting more worried for her friend. She wonders if the fire genasi looks even worse under that suit of armor than she did when they were on the 2nd floor of the Vanthampur mansion.
As you arrive at the Basilisk Gate, you all veer off to the side street adjacent heading for the stables. There is quite a crowd packed around the gate, though it isn't a riot as it was the last time you were here. Though, you feel that tide could turn easily. Many Flaming Fists guards are working the gate and attempting to keep those inside and outside away from it. Definitely a noisy part of town.
At the stables you find a dwarf sweeping just outside, pushing off they hay and other matter into the street, sporting a soft pointed hat, long red beard speckled with white and a stalk of hay jutting out of his mouth. As you approach, he eyes you all a bit suspiciously seeing you are quite the motley crew and asks, "Yeah? Whatcha all want?"
Reed smiles at the dwarf and looks around the stables. He didn't see what transpired in the Flaming Fist offices after he left so he's wondering how hard it would be to liberate the number of horses they need.
"Do you have a smaller horse with a saddle that would suit someone my size?" Reed asks politely.
Virro walks up casually, regarding the dwarf. He says nothing, but eyes him and looks to the horses, back to him, back to the horses. He gives a thumbs up sign if the dwarf seems to have it, anxious to get on his way and away from the crowds. “Let’s move along now….” He says underneath his breath.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
The dwarf spits on the ground then looks back up, "Course I have horses of all different sizes. This is the Basilisk Stables, wouldn't have it any other way." Regarding Corlith, "Yep."
He holds his hand out for the parchment, waiting for Corlith to give it to him. "For each of yous eh? Well now, how's you all going to pay? Who's Commander Portyr?"
He cocks his head towards Virro and gives him a 'Hey' sign back.
Reed walks further into the stables looking for horses and saddles and the rest of the gear, leaving Corlith to the negotiations. He keeps an eye out for a rear exit the horses can be taken out of if the dwarf decides they need to buy the horses.
"Great, good to meet you Charles", Corlith says congenially as he hands over the parchment. "Commander Portyr is now in charge of the Flaming Fist. It is her seal on the parchment", he replies.
He stands waiting for Charles to inspect the seal, open the parchment and start to read it before adding, "I believe that should cover everything you need to know".
"commander portyr? My, my... you guys were busy out there without me. Oh! that reminds me, did we get paid Reed?" Archie turns on her heel and looks down at Reed as Corlith continues acquiring the horses.
Archie takes a look in her bag and does a bit of a double take at the unfamiliar items now sequestered away in there, "well thanks you sneaky little shit" she chuckles jestingly.
Charles checks out the seal then opens it, unrolling it as he reads. "Commander Portyr you say? Well, she can't be any worse than Captian Zodge. Sure miss Grand Duke Ulder Ravengard though, now he knew how to take care of the city. It's all gone downhill since that man left. Felt it the moment he stepped through the gates." He shakes his head then rolls back up the parchment.
"Alright, a horse for each of ya's. Now, yous ain't getting my best steeds ya hear? Don't even really know this Portyr, hope she's worth her word.." he starts turning around and heads back into the stables. Then seeing Reed eyeing everything, "You's all stay here, I'll get them dressed and ready."
Half an hour later he and another dwarf come out from the stables leading two chestnut mares, a black gelding, a paint that is a bit of a swayback, a grey appaloosa that could lose some weight, a dark brown one with black legs, mane and tail, and following behind is a pony just the size for Reed.
"Alright, here's ya are. Make sure they's all get fed and watered properly and back to me. I wish yous luck on your trip."
Having waited mostly patiently, Corlith is glad to see Charles and the other dwarf finally leading their horses out of the stables. He isn't exactly a natural horseman, but with a little bit of concentration he finds he can turn his hand to most things.
He takes the reins of the black gelding as he replies to Charles, "Much appreciated. We will certainly do our best".
He looks over his horse making sure it is fully kitted out with all the necessary tack as well as hopefully some saddlebags.
Corlith sees that his horse, as well as the others, are properly suited out with saddlebags and everything else. All but the small one, she just has a saddle and bridle.
"I'll uhh take the biggest one if you all don't mind, this get up is a little heavy and I don't want to exhaust the poor things before we get where we're going" Archie asks politely with an undertone of embarrassed insistence due to necessity.
"I'm Reed. We're going to be traveling together for awhile," Reed says. Then remembers. "Oh and this is Slobberchops. He's probably going to fly along but if he gets tired he might sit on the saddle with me."
He reaches into whatever feed is nearby and offers the pony a handlful.
Then once he's made friends he climbs on and gets ready to go.
Roo' Stor is leaned over petting Glory of Morning and talking in her ear, reassuring her that someday soon they'll return to the coop, and to the people they care about, and the warm, cozy roost they've called home for so long now, and they'll be nice and comfortable and they won't even have to murder anyone that doesn't come out to their home and causes trouble. When he finally stops talking and looks up, he sees the horses that the Dwarf has led to them.
"What the cluck am I going to do with such a great, dumb beast?" He says, genuinely asking and somewhat stupefied. Finally he shrugs his bony shoulders and flicks Glory of Morning's reins, and the possum goes right up the side of the horses saddle, whereupon it curls up on the saddle while Roo dismounts and walks to the horse's flank, finding a comfortable spot to have a seat.
Virro walks over to the grey Appaloosa, opening its mouth to look at its teeth, bending down to examine its hooves and feet, squeezing its legs, saying to himself “No edema, good. You’re just, you’re just a little “Zoftig” as they would say. A little round in the middle. Like you haven’t had enough exercise, isn’t that right girl?” He asks the horse conspiratorially, rubbing its mane and getting on its back, getting comfortable in the saddle. “Onward!” he says, straightening up his shield, under his breath he says “I”ll straighten you up, don’t worry HL, just hold your horses.” He looks around, unaware that he was talking. “Hold your horses! Hah! Get it?” He lets out a snaggle tooth grin, settles the ole grey mare and waits to ride on on to Candlekeep.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Reya smiles at Archie, leading the black legged horse over to her. "This one looks like it could handle you and me if we wanted it to. Don't be so self-conscious. I've seen these beasts carry fully suited fat assed men across country." she then thrusts the reins into Archie's hands and grabs a chestnut mare for herself.
The pony gives the winged cat the sideeye and whinies his protest, but doesn't move away from Slobberchops as he brushes up against his leg. The feed that Reed offers up is enough to distract him.
Roo and Glory of Morning climb up the paint and get themselves settled after a bit of strutting around. The horse ignores all of it as it has found a decent patch of weeds that seems particularly interesting.
As Virro gets acquainted with his mare, Fisk grabs the other chestnut and as he mounts her, he gives Virro a strange look as he talks to himself. Leaning over a bit he asks, "You doing alright over there? Need some water?"
Once everyone is settled up, Reya looks to Corlith, "So a quick stop at your place, then Fisks, then to Candlekeep, right?" and she leads the group towards the Basilisk gate.
As the Basilisk Gate opens, Flaming Fist soldiers hold back the tide of Elturgardian refugees. You cut a path through these wretched souls, whose wails intensify as the Basilisk Gate closes behind you. You can see ahead of you the dirt road that cuts through the slums of the Outer City, past the walled neighborhood of Little Calimshan, to the great span of Wyrm’s Crossing.
As they set off Archie seems nervous and more than once leans forward to grasp the horse entirely around the neck to steady herself instead of using the reins, after about 5 minutes Archie asks Reya to 'drive the horse' instead admitting "I haven't ever done this before, but I can hang in to you if you do it, I uhhhh, learn better through watching first" and then instead of having a death grip on the horse Archie instead has a death grip around Reya's torso.
"Sounds good, it's not far beyond the gate", Corlith replies to Reya. As they ride through the gate, he sees all the refugees and worries that trouble might break out deeper in Stonyeyes as well. They have not travelled far when he veers off the main road and after about 50 yards pulls up outside of a small house. It is nothing grand, but it has two stories and the facade seems to be in a decent state of repair.
"I won't be a moment, unless they weren't allowed through the gate to get to work, no-one should be in", he says to the others as he jumps down from his horse and hands Reed the reins.
He then moves up to the front door, taking out a key and unlocking it before stepping inside.

Corlith walks over behind Reed, a little distracted by the crowds gathering after what happened last time.
"We're looking for Charles", he says sizing the dwarf up. "Might that be you?", he asks.
He pulls out the parchment with the Commander's seal, not quite close enough for the dwarf to really see, but ready if this does happen to be Charles.
If there is further suspicion, he will add, "Commander Portyr sent us. We require horses for each of us".
