As the group discusses whether to continue on or rest and if to rest, where... Archie and Reed take a look at the secret door. As the IronMaiden touches the opening mechanism to see if it is magical, it lights up, showing her there is no magical effect.
The skeletons continue to stare into space in the room past the open door.
Roo bounces around, hopping from foot to foot before he begins making his way toward the rest of the group. He takes time as he goes to stop and scratch and peck furiously at the faces of the corpses as he goes, giving special attention to the most recently deceased before making a meal out of an eyeball and moving on. He's wiping the goo from his beak as he walks toward the rest of the party.
"What a shame." He says angrily, looking over his shoulder back toward the dropped opponents. "I wanted to ask him about Fog' Horn. But as they say, 'threats are no good if you're not willing to make good on them'. Nice work there, Wilfred! You really showed him the point!"
Wilfred nods to Roo', but then leans heavy in his glaive. "Geeze, my age is catching up to me. I could use a quick break, or if one of you all magic folk have some healing, I wouldn't say no."
As the party gathers after finishing off the last of the guards of the secret door, they decide to check out what they were guarding...
Reed and Archie pull at the handle and it swings towards them quite easily, scrapping a bit on the ground, but not catching on anything. To Corlith's dismay, they are back in the murky water. As each enter in turn, they look around seeing several old torches floating in the swamp and as eyes adjust to the surroundings, it is mainly a large passage that is braced at regular intervals by more wooden beams, as well as a door tucked away to the East.
There is a point ahead, just able to be made out in their fire light that the passage bends to the west. Once everyone has settled into the water, you can barely hear echoes of a battle unfolding beyond the bend.
Roo makes a chattering sound with his beak down the corridor, and a few moments later Glory of Morning comes walking over top of the corpses piled in the hall, her hairless tail dragging over them as she goes. The Gallusian swings up into the saddle, giving a gentle flick of the reins.
"I suppose we go back into the water." He says, moving through the secret door. "I'm afraid my regal armor makes me too much of a target to scout ahead. Anyone else feel up to it? We may be able to make use of this battle we hear. The enemy of my enemy, and all that."
"No, I was expecting a room... If it's going on to more fighting Wilf ain't gonna take much more, we gotta let him rest, catch up, he's old look at him." Archie comes back out of the door she was assisting Reed with and sets herself down. "I've not got the healing to magically bolster him til the next chance to rest so unless someone has other ideas..." She trails off and crosses her arms with a clank
Corlith steps through the secret door, sighing as he descends into the filthy water again.
“We have chosen a path, I am curious now as to the sounds of fighting. It could be someone genuinely needs and is deserving of our help. Pops can have a rest whilst Reed and Virro scout further? I have limited capacity for magic left, it may be better spent on other things”, he suggests giving Wilfred an apologetic smile as Archie moves back into the room they came from.
Virro listens to the options, saying “I was noticing that dad was looking a little peak-ed after that last fight, I thought we should gather up into a room that we can defend and rest for a bit, but everyone else wishes to explore further before we rest. I still vote for the “rest”. You’ve got to have your rest, to make you healthy, wealthy, and wise! *snicker* I only have one spell of healing left, and probably need to use it if one of us actually drops. So I’d like to hold onto that…. I can sneak ahead, or I suggest, we take a beauty rest. Ole Fred’s cheeks look a little pale! Soon, you’ll be looking like me!” Virro grins, making his terrible teeth visible.

“Oh! Almost forgot!” Virro smiles at Reed. “Time for the fingers!” He steps to each body of the fallen Fists and cuts off a finger, placing it in his bag, and then rejoins the group.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
The echoes of the fight grow nearer as the group deliberates what to do. A muffled grunt, several loud splashes and then a very large man tumbles into view.
The seemingly tall, unarmored brute with a greatclub in his hand, lands on his knees and is clearly gravely wounded. Noticing the light from Reed’s lantern, the man turns to face the party, a look of surprise on his scarred face.
A much smaller figure darts into view, obviously in pursuit of the large man, but pauses as he sees his target distracted by the party. Also turning to look at you, you all see that he is muscular and bare-chested. The smaller man clutches a bloody dagger in one hand and a torch in the other. The torch is lighting up the face that has no flesh covering his skull.
Reed watches Big Man and Skull Face come into view. Stealth is clearly not of aid to them now.
He reaches into his pouch and fishes out the small vial with the red liquid inside. He hands it over to Wilfred.
"This is better than coffee for an afternoon pick me up," Reed says as he hands the injured warrior the healing potion.
He then looks back at the Big Man and Skull Face and waves at them both.
"I say we let them stab each other a few more times then go pick up the pieces," Reed says to the others. "I don't like the idea of aiding Skull Face, but it's always tough to side with a Big Man against a little guy."
Reed calls down the watery hallway to the two combatants.
The man with the flayed skull face looks back to his victim and then to the party and flees, taking his torch with him. You can hear his splashing through the water for a bit with his retreat..
The large man stands up while eyeing the group, heaving his greatclub back over his shoulder and squares to face off against you.
Not taking a step towards you, he asks, “Were you also sent by my brothers to kill me? Well, let’s get on with it then.”
Archie having gotten up after Reed handed over a vial of healing to Wilfred gives a little look around the door and goes splashing in, she quickly opens the evil looking book that she has and dismissively starts yelling at the guy "never mind about your bloody brothers... Myrkul, Bane, Bhaal. Do any of these names mean anything to you?"
Reed smiles at the big man, though doesn't shrink the distance between them yet.
"As I don't think we know who you are, that's a hard question to answer. Is one of your brothers Captain Zodge?" Reed asks. "If he is, yes, he sent us to kill you. Well, not you specifically unless you count as collateral damage, but everyone part of the cult down here."
Reed pauses to take a breath.'
"But if you're not related to Zodge, then no," he looks around at the rest for confirmation, "I don't think we were sent to kill you. Oh wait, are you a pirate? We've got a score to settle with them too."
Reed guides the skeletons to get between the party and the big man, just in case he gets confrontational.
The ray of frost hits the smaller man just as he leaves your line of sight around the corner and splashes away until you no longer hear him.
As Archie asks about the Dead Three, The large man looks at the suit of armor quizzically, "Well, yeah. I mean, you are in the base of their operations, so.. yes. They are the Dead Three."
"Huh, you tiny." The man states to Reed as the halfling starts to talk, "Captain Zodge?" He leans against the wall, clearly relaxing a bit at this line of questioning, "No, definitely not. My family is trying to get him and his Fists to fail."
"Pirate?" he chuckles a bit, "No, little man, I am not."

”Now what? We could take a quiet look around the corner and see who’s fighting whom then decide if want any part of that or not.”

Corlith steps back and surveys the newcomers.
”From my recollection, followers of Bhaal can alter their form, and one of those they can take is that of a flayed skull”, he says to the others.
”Not as sure about the other one, but I’d say let’s start with skull face”.

"Side with one or side with neither, a difficult choice", Corlith replies to Reed.
"And if either of you has a good reason for us to help, shout it out now", he calls across to the combatants after Reed's question.
Virro calmly pulls out his crossbow and loads a bolt into it, awaiting further identification of the two combatants.
