Virro hears sounds like buzzing in the room, sees Thavius out of the corner of his eye and he feels rather than sees Archie reach her arm out, trying to grab him, but the dextrous elf ducks and moves forward, grabbing the shield, eyes wide and pupils dilated. I must know of this, something is calling to me, secrets untold, for my Master! Virro slides by and grabs the shield, holding it, transferring it to his left arm, and sliding his old black wooden shield into the strap that holds it on his back pack. He pauses for a moment, seeming to have a conversation in his head, then his head turns to the rest of the room and he sees Archie and Roo standing beside him, alarmed. The distant sounds come back into focus and Virro merely says “What? What did you say? Look at it, so fancy! I hear something, something in my mind. What’s the matter, Archie? Did I do something wrong?”

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Archie sighs as Virro slips through her fingers, "fine... I felt the pull too, I think could have easily have been anyone else who picked up the damn thing... well let's approach this with some rationality" she resigns herself to testing and pulls out her light hammer, holding it ready, "hey, lift the shield I wanna test something"
And if Virro accepts she swings and deliberately hits the shield, keeping a close eye on how video reacts, looking into his eyes to see any change.
(20 perception, trying to figure out any changes to Virro)
When Corlith tells Thavius in infernal that the Duke and her two sons have been disposed of, he gives the tiefling a small smile, "Why, now that is good news." He starts moving away from the shield and towards the group, primarily Reya.
He finally looks down at his shadow, then back to Reed, "Oh that? Why the woman cursed me. Unfortunate to see that in death her curse seems to linger."
Virro surprises Thavius as he runs behind him to pick up the shield, "Wait! Don't..." but it is too late and as Virro dodges away from Archie's grasp, the wood elf takes the golden shield in his hands.
Reya listens to Archie, her words about everything is wrong and looks to the shield, wondering how the object is talking to her friend and it makes her a bit worried, "Mr. Kreeg, what is my friend talking about? How is the shield talking to her?" Then to Roo, "You think everything is a fiend if it isn't Gallus." she retorts.
Thavius stares at Corlith as he attempts to intimidate him. "What are you talking about? I was visiting a parish a few miles outside Elturel when it disappeared, it is the worst thing that could have happened!! I am not in league with that woman! Her guards captured me shortly after my arrival here. I still cannot believe my beautiful city is has succumbed to a level of hell. I have been locked up with this shield, an angel is inside and I was trying to see if they could help me. You say there is a devil in there?! Why.. I had no idea!" and he backs away from the shield, then buries his face in his hands, "Oh.. my Elturel, how will I ever save you?"
On the other side of the room, Archie pulls out her hammer and swings it solidly onto the shield. A beautiful tone rings out as the two metals clash, but nothing else happens.
"well I'm out of ideas, is it talking to you Virro? Do you feel different? It said it was celestial. Hey hidden lord you've gone all quiet" Archie stashes away her hammer once more looking between the group and Virro
Reed can't put his finger on it. Maybe the voice of the old duke complaining that she put no such curse on anyone or his mistrust of pompous jerks, or that devilish shadow but he's pretty sure this guy is lying.
"What was the name of this parish you were visiting?" Reed asks as he edges over closer to the chests on the tables. He decides to open them up. "Seems a strange place to lock someone up, doesn't it? With chests and a nice shield?"
"So why don't you just stop lying?" Reed says to Kreeg. "All that's going to do is make us take so much longer to get to the end of this conversation. So just tell us why Elturel disappeared, and why you're here, and . . ."
He looks over at Corlith.
". . . yeah, and how this puzzle box works." Reed says taking the puzzle box out of his pouch.
Archie watches with interest, waiting for answers. She slinks back and positions herself behind Thavius, not close enough to be within reach but making sure he is flanked between the main body of the group and her.
Roo sways his head from side to side from Reya's accusation.
"True." He says, watching the situation that is unfolding. "But I know that shield is a fiend. Know. Not think. Buck."
He gets nervous as Thavius steps toward Reya, and then moves Glory of Morning forward, positioning himself between the old man and the young woman.
"No." He says softly, watching Reya, but keeping his attention mostly on Kreeg. "My disdain for false idols aside, you can't tell me a person of your station can't tell the difference in a celestial and fiend. As a follower of mighty Gallus the Morning Light, if I can tell the difference in the beings of your belief, then I know you can. One more step from you and I will strike you down. Reya, step back. Please."
The Gallus draws the Owl's Talon. His breathing quickens. He fluffs his feathers once, twice, and keeps Glory's left side turned toward Thavius, so that his shield is facing the old man.
Wilfred stays by the door, watching the others talk to Thavius. He makes sure that he's positioned so he can easily step in front of the door, blocking it. He is staring intently at Thavius, smiling. It was a good decision to answer the Flaming Fists call. Leads on so many names, and a few more crossed off.
As the tensions start to rise, he says "Hello Thavius. I hear that you like wine. Ever heard of the Cliffvine Vineyard. They have some of the best, but it's harder to come by now, isn't it." Wilfred watches to see his reaction. Insight 7
"Why, the name of the parish?" He scratches his chin as he recomposes himself and tries to remember, "I do visit so many..." then hearing Reed call him a liar, he gets flushed in the face and his features all screw up in anger, "I am not a liar!"
Reya stumbles a bit backwards as Roo places himself between her and Thavius, "Please, he is telling the truth, I just know he is! You all had already condemned him before we even found him!"
Thavius looks around to all that surround him, wondering how he got himself into the predicament and then hears Wilfred by the door and he gets a bit pale. "I.. I don't believe I know what you are talking about."
But when Reed pulls out the puzzlebox, everything around Thavius is ignored and he almost falls over his robes as he attempts to grab it from Reed's hand, "My puzzlebox!! Give that back!!" As soon as he starts in to take it from the halfling's hand, however, Roo's readied action is triggered, and the rooster stabs at Thavius, sinking his shortsword into the old man's exposed side (7 dam).
"Nooo!!!" Reya screams as she watches her new friend stab her hero. She stands up and draws her swords.
Archie feels bad for Reya, the woman was so full of hope and religious zeal and now to see her idol with a devilish shadow and a demonic greed for the puzzle box. It hurt to see.
Archie's hand dives quickly into her pack and pulls out a set of manacles, she grabs at Thavius attempting to restrain him as he is distracted by Roo's attack.
As Archie struggles with Thavius she calls out to the others, "watch his shadow! Reya help us subdue and question him or it might end worse, please!"
"You almost...almost...had me there Kreeg", Corlith says shaking his head in disappointment.
"Now, my companions are going to truss you up good and proper, and you are going to confess to all the horrible things you have done. Unless Torm is going to strike us all down for manhandling one of his priests of course", he says derisively.
"Now, stop struggling", he says and points his finger at Thavius and speaks in infernal, attempting to paralyze him.
Action: Cast Hold Person on Thavius - DC15 Wis Save or be paralyzed
Reed takes his eyes from the multiple chests on the tables and fishes some rope out of his pack. He quickly goes over to the paralyzed Thavius and begins to tie him up, using secure knots that should make it difficult for the man to escape.
Sleight of Hand? (15+7) = 22
Reed looks up at the air above Thavius's head as he does so.
"No this is not a double standard," Reed says. "We're evolving as a group. But, you know. There's still a pretty good chance this one will end up like you lot too."
Virro straightens his new shield up in his left hand and reaches forward toward Thavius, saying “You know, HL says you are pretty worthless. You really ought to tell us the truth you know. Once you can speak, that is. It would go so much better for you…I guess. Prospects are not good either way.”
Virro touches Thavius with shocking grasp, jolting him. 20 to hit, for 10 points of lightning damage. “Oooh, sparks!” His eyes go wide, he’s been wanting to test this new skill and he sees the perfect opportunity. He turns to Reya, saying “You are really being misled by this man. Trust me. He is really, really naughty….”

Wilfred is about to grab the manacles from Archie, but then sees how well Reed tyes up Thavius. He rests his Glaive against the wall as he walks towards Thavius. He makes a placating gesture to Reya as he passes.
With a calm voice, he says "Hey there Thavius. Are you more willing to answer some questions now? Good! Let's start with my friend who didn't get some answers earlier. What do you know about a Gallus who was wearing armor just like his?" He asked, gesturing to Roo's. He keeps walking closer to Thavius. "Next, what are you really doing here? No need for lies, we're beyond that now. What's in the puzzle box, how do we open it?" As he steps right in front of the paralyzed and restrained old man, his hand quickly reaches for his dagger and puts it to Thavius' throat. How can demeanour cracks as he says loudly. "Lastly... Finally! What in the nine hells do you know about what happened at Cliffvine Vineyard! And tell the truth now! Thanks to what Virro has been showing us, I think I can make sure you die real slow and painful."
