Krumar opens his eyes once more after feeling the high five, groans, and gets up "Well now that this is over, grab a green stone for the king guy, and let's shake like a tree and leave"
As the halfling barely even notices the next shudder throughout the cavern, she sees Dabbert grab a single stone. She heads over to the pile, and shoves a bunch in her pack with the use of the head of her axe.
Once satisfied, she stands back up and starts heading for the entrance. If she can reach Syl, she'll try to offer the old man some help.
Jaylan falls on his back when the gronud shakes but he is able to roll to avoid the falling rocks
( 3 on the STR save and nat 20 on the DEX one ))
Remembering that they should bring some of that green stones with them, he picks up one that is close to him now that he is on the ground and tries to stand back up to go out of there.
( If possible he will pick one that wasn't attached to the abomination )
“Couldn’t tell you.” The Doctor responds bluntly to Dabbert’s question without looking over her shoulder. It wasn’t like she got a close look or had access to touching anything for review. “What I do know is…” Seeing Pauwau struggle on the last shake, twisting their ankle pretty bad, she picks up the wolf to carry them (Or helps them if it’s ruled that she can’t/would be encombered). “I’m owed an abomination to autopsy!” Raevyn calls out. At this point, she obviously didn’t mean this abomination, as it was too late and potentially useless, but anything of the sort in the future that’d make Krumar piddle his britches may suffice. On the other hand, maybe that bar’s set too low.
And with Raevyn's words, the party hightails it out of there!
It is not just a matter of running all helter-skelter from the innermost cavern, through the network of tunnels and dead ends and such, making sure you don't lose your way while the shimmy and shake of the very land underneath you grows more and more intense. Oh no. It is much more frantic, dramatic, nerve rattling and slapstick than all that! There's the need to constantly corral and direct the Orcs who constantly think they know the way but who most resoundingly do not. There is the need to avoid the rocks attempting to fall upon your head even as you must keep your eyes on your feet to ensure they don't get entangled what has already fallen. Through much of the havok and running Krumar is trying to write a ballad about the Lonely Green Monster, a ballad which in days long long after will be stolen and used as a jingle to sell peas. Syl, seeing Raevyn carrying PauWau for at least the initial stretch of the run looks to Dabbert and hopes for similar treatment, for his bones are old and brittle and he hasn't had a nip of the drink in an age!
Nefire is a shining light in the horrid and haphazard trek out of the mines, she unerringly nows the right direction, even able to navigate the group around a couple of collapsed tunnels with her eerie sense of direction. There's be no doubt it was her sense of direction that saved you all from still being inside during the total collapse if her short legs and slow top speed hadn't been a constant source of delay.
Jaylan brings up the rear, his shouts of encouragement (and occasional fear) keeping the rest of the party moving... And on the odd occasion they don't, he sticks the pointy end of his sword in their ass to keep them moving!
It is chaotic and crazy and complete bedlam, your mad scramble to get out of the mines as they shake more and more and eventually crumble and collapse and eventually leave an indentation in the land where the hill they were once under was... But in the end you all manage to somehow make it out alive and, more or less, in no worse a condition than that you were in when the collapse begun...
As the land collapses behind it, you find yourselves all scrambling back into the wooden structure built at the cave's entrance, the back half of it collapsing as well but conveniently in a way that is almost seals off that back portion where a wall and a hole leading deep underground once was... It is night outside. A snowstorm blows and swirls and howls outside. The same night? The same storm? It seems almost impossible to know for sure... But you are back above ground and alive. And you have four grumpy Orcs looking to you as to what to do next...
So, what next? The ground seems to have stabilized and you seem to have some cover from the elements... But there are no true beds anywhere between here and Eisloch. But you are all so tired, do you really need a bed to sleep??
---
OOC -- So, what next? I assume Eisloch and a return to Mudge and the Frosty Beard but it is up to you all to set the direction on where we go next...
Jaylan pants and literally falls in the frozen floor and leans against the wooden wall. He is bleeding from a cut on his head, goodbye present of the mine when they were almost in the exit, but it doesn't seems deep or seriuos.
"I.. I do not want to be inside a mine ever... in this life or the next... "he manages to say while taking his waterskin and taking a sip from it, with saking hands... "I think we could rest here... and head back tomorrow... I need like a week of sleep after two of a hoth bath..." he says shivering "I guess that we could use some of the fallen wood to try to make a fire... " he says pointing to the debris of the fallen part of the wooden structure. "I mean you could do it... it is not that I am not willing... is that my ass has frozen over the ground I do think I cannot move... eeeh.. help?"
Krumar blows in his hands trying to warm them and pauses a moment to suggest "A fire...yes great idea perhaps Dabbert can lead our new friends right out over there and grab some kindling and stuff...Alright off you go."
Syl, also slumps against the side of the structure, blood matted hair concealing most of his face. Nevertheless, he proudly declares to the Orcs... "Congratulations, mates. By the order of the High King himself, you may consider yourselves rescued."
"Furthermore, by the authority invested upon us as the High King's representatives in this matter, rescue expenses shall be collected from you by the more upright and able-bodied members of the party."
Then he slumps over further.

Dabbert kneels down next to Jaylan, his own head busted open and bleeding, and reaches out with the cleanest dirty rag that he has covered with only a little blood and wipes Jaylan's own injury with it.
"Well done down there uh...Jaylan. Well done indeed." He says, standing and looking a little wobbly himself. He rolls his shoulders, listening to Krumar, then nods. "A fire? I can uh...arrange that."
He steps out of the ruined cabin and looks around, motioning one of the Orcs to go with him as he moves to the edge of the woods, keeping a watch as he goes to make sure he's not stumbling on anymore pissed off wolves or whatnot as he slogs through the snow. As he gets into the treeline, he starts pulling dried, dead sticks from the underside of younger evergreen trees, and looking for any sizeable enough logs that he can take back to roll into the fire. Then he starts working on the fire...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Behind the group from the darkness of the shadows, the Doctor starts to hum quietly. She then speaks poetically in a low haunting melodic chant.
"Dressed in black Join the pact Prove the dark we haven't barked End this night Shunned by light Condemned to earth we will have rebirthed."
Raevyn steps into the light with her loyal companion Pauwau.
"Dead inside Breathe new life Free your bones from the catacombs Take control Of your soul The heavens weep as you rise from sleep"
Coming to the battered and beaten sailor, Syl may be able to feel her words soothe some of his aches and pain. The doctor pours some water from her waterskin on the deep sleeve of her robes, and uses it to dab away some of the blood on his face. She'd then stand back up right, sending Pauwau over to Dabbert.
(Healing Word on Syl: 4 )
"World full of witchery Confidence and effigy Clever wits and prophecies Graveyard dust and sorcery Step inside and face the scene"
Raevyn's words now envelope Dabbert, stitching together the deepest part of his head wound, or at least assuaging the headache from it. She'd then move to collect fresh, clean, non yellow snow in her iron pot while Pauwau limps along, nipping at his heels to collect the sticks. They'd proudly bring them back to Raevyn to pile for the fire, except for the last one. Pauwau would play tug o war with it until they could pull Dabbert back to the group.
(Healing Word on Dabbert: 4 )
Then settling into a corner, Pauwau lays at Rae's feet chewing on the stick. Then with a snap of her fingers, the doctor lights the fire which casts it's own dancing shadows in it's wake. She then pulls out rations and passes them around, along with reminding others of their water skin. She'd also go around checking and mending any of the other's damaged attire within her ability. Once there were some good hot coals, she'd set the pot of snow on it to boil water for the group.
"The flame is quickly growing dim The air is swiftly growing thin And something stirs from deep within The earth begins to crack and grow The wind begins to howl and moan And I know we're not alone."
Leaving Krumar with those words, the Doctor settles back into her corner, pulling Pauwau up onto her to lay along her for warmth and safety. She feeds them some jerky to gnaw on, petting their fur. She settles in fairly comfortably for the night. Rae and Pauwau were willing to take an early watch to give others more time to rest.
As they all exit the cave, Nefire waits and waits and waits....
Then throws her arms wide and announces, "Thank you Nefire! Thank you for traversing the crazy maze of that cursed mine and getting us out without having to eat each other due to starvation!" She pats herself on the back, "Why you're all welcome, I'd never let it come to that for my friends!"
Then she huffs and finds shelter from the wind against the wooden structure and sulks with her arms crossed, glaring at each of you.
Krumar couldn’t hear little Nef over the howl of the wind near the front of the cave as he exited “What was that? Hmm oh I thought I heard someone speak…Nevermind.”
Currently, Krumar continues to shelter and wait for the fire to start Krumar continues to play relaxing tunes for the group
You all escaped alive and while the tunnels and mines effectively imploded and created a nice crumbly glen where a hill once stood, the wooden building which was once the entrance, sleeping quarters and general day to day business side of things most remained upright. There is some damage in back where the mine entrance is but the building provides you with much protection from the storm outside.
Jaylan more or less collapses from wounds, exhaustion and mental fatigue. Dabbert manages to secure some firewood before he follows suit. He in fact doesn't even need brave the elements as enough timber has crashed in the back that it can be used to warm the joint up a bit with no further degradation to the structure. Krumar tries to boss the Orcs around but is finding them less in the following mood now that there is no immediate danger. Not that they have become hostile but they are far more exhausted and fatigued and emaciated than any of you and so they're in the mood for little more than huddling around a fire for warmth and voraciously devouring any food provided, (For just what were they eating down in the mines? But maybe it is best you do not know...)
Nefire explodes into a loud burst of sass and bravado, giving herself a pat on the back for her expert navigation skills even if none of you other dolts bother to recognize it! Raevyn does the most Raevyn thing possible and goes about seeing to the care and comfort of others, doing her best to tend to wounds and clean people up and make them warm and fed. Syl? Syl goes on about the High King and expenses and such to the Orcs who are... less than pleased. They turn their heads and spit at the mention of the High King in an almost synchronized movement and they dismiss Syl's ramblings entirely after that. The High King is an unpleasant reality in The Duldreg and while the Orcs accept him, they are the grumpiest, rowdiest, most unruly province in Vaire.
After tending to the immediate physical needs, you all mostly gather around the fire and being your rests. Habub sets the Orcs a watch schedule, each of the four will take a roughly 2 hour shift while the others watch. "You rescued us. Us keeping an eye out as you sleep is the least we can do. But I understand if you want more than just us watching," he explains before closing his eyes and trying to catch some zees as he took one of the middle watches.
At one point during the night there can be howls hear on the wind. Pauwau awakens and cocks an ear to the sound before standing and running over to on of the gaps in the wooden walls and poking out his snout. After a moment he returns a howl of his own. There's a couple of short barks far off in the distance and then silence. Soon Pauwau pads back to Raevyn, circles twice, then lays back down curled up nose to tail and gets more sleep.
In the time before, during and after the long rest there is a chance to go through what the party found in the caves. As a group you likely gathered about 30 total pounds of the green rock from the tunnels - mostly small pieces and bits. Another 15 pounds or so were gathered from the hill the abomination stood upon, these rocks are about fist sized and large and a more vivid and pure green, almost as if they had been processed, refined or polished in some way.
Syl - You have the broken pieces of the sorcerer's staff in a bag.
Krumar - You greedy bastard, you grabbed the most...
Emerald, Sapphire and uncut Diamond used in Sorcerer's ritual. Probably value for all 200-600 depending...
Small Silver Amulet carved with intricate rune Raevyn deciphered as Cold or Snow
Cameo necklace with silhouette of Medusa on it
Embroidered Silk Handkerchief
Deck of Hand Painted Playing Cards
Three Bone Dice with various jewel flakes as pips
Small pile of various gemstones: Obsidian, Turquoise, Agate, Zircon, Onyx, Quartz, etc… (400gp-ish value total)
Nefire took the Brass Mug with Jade Inlay, Climbing Potion, Healing Potion, 40 gold pieces, 189 silver and 212 copper
Raevyn got a Rejuvenating Draft and a Black Velvet Mask with Silver Stitching and Embroidery
Jaylan & Dabbert? I don't think you two grabbed any of the goodies... If I am wrong feel free to remind me.
There is a Small Mirror which reading back it seemed like nobody took? I'm just going to assume either Jaylan (evens) or Dabbert (odds) did and let them deal with it! 1
I'll PM you each (that have stuff) with some details on them and then you should decide what you are doing with them. If someone wants to track the coins they can feel free but as I said previously I mostly plan on handwaving money in this campaign. If you're looking to buy something you are not sure you'd have enough for then ask, I'll decide basically based on how prcy, how much you all have been doing, how well you're currently in the good graces of the king and all, etc... As far as gems and such, those someone may want to track as some may be spell components or such? But still, mostly *shrug*
How you divide magic is up to you all. I'm going to PM each of you IF I placed the item on your character sheet and you can go from there. Mostly homebrewed items so if you give it to someone else let me know and if I have to put the item on their sheet instead I will. (Not sure how easy it is for you to take my homebrewed items...) I am NOT putting gold or precious stones on your sheets, thats for you all if you choose to. Actually magic should be too but so far it seems nobody noted anything? And I had the day off and all so *shrug* lol

In the morning you are all refreshed and healed and well rested. Remarkably so. Coincidentally the blizzard has ended, the winds dies, the clouds broken and the sun is shining almost too brightly on the pristine white snow which covers everything outside... What now?
