Vayle's voice grows stern and filled with anger as he addresses Glasstaff, now revealed to be Iarno Albrek. The mention of the Dendrar family being held captive in the cells sparks a surge of fury within him. "You dare to imprison innocent families while you pursue your own selfish agenda?" Vayle's voice carries a mix of outrage and determination. "You will pay for your crimes, Iarno."
He exchanges a glance with Simon, silently reaffirming their shared resolve to rescue the Dendrar family and put an end to this vile scheme orchestrated by the former member of the Lords' Alliance. The safety and well-being of the innocent townsfolk have always been their top priority, and now they have a chance to confront the true source of the town's suffering.
Vayle's grip tightens around his scimitar, his determination unwavering. "Lead the way to the cells, Iarno. You will undo the harm you have caused, and face the consequences of your actions." With Glasstaff, now Iarno Albrek, as their unwilling guide, Vayle, Simon, and Ripper prepare to confront the depths of the Redbrand hideout, ready to bring justice to those held captive and put an end to the tyranny that has plagued Phandalin for far too long.

Racks of weapons line the walls of this chamber, including spears, swords, crossbows, and bolts. A dozen dirty red cloaks hang from hooks by the door.
Vayle's anger continues to fuel his actions as he forcefully guides Iarno through the secret door leading to the Redbrand's armory. With a firm grip on Iarno's arm, he tosses him towards the south end of the armory, ensuring Ripper keeps a watchful eye on the captured mage. "You will stay here under Ripper's watchful gaze, Iarno." Vayle states firmly, his voice laced with determination. "Make one false move, and you'll regret it."
Iarno, now cornered and restrained, glares defiantly at Vayle, but the ranger remains undeterred. The safety of the innocent captives and the town's well-being are paramount in his mind. He knows that dealing with Iarno is not the end, but rather a step towards liberating Phandalin from the Redbrand menace.
With a resolute nod, Vayle turns away from Iarno, knowing that his attention must now be directed towards finding and freeing the Dendrar family. Simon stands ready by his side, their resolve unwavering. They proceed to search the armory, gathering any useful equipment and ensuring their weapons are prepared for the challenges ahead.

Vayle has not killed Iarno for his information has been consistent with what the young Redbrand recruit told them. On his way out of the armory, he takes a couple of red cloaks with him. When he is about to open the door to the crypts, south of the hallway, it is opened by a female Redbrand that is as startled as Vayle is. "Who are you?" Shouts the female Redbrand.
"What are you doing here?" Asks back Vayle. The female Redbrand gives a sigh. "Barry and I have cell duties, but he told me to leave so that he could have his 'way' with the girl." Enraged, Vayle put on one of the red cloak on him. He tells Simon to stay back, and he charges toward the slave pens, passing the crypts.
This long room is partitioned into three areas, with iron bars walling off the north and south. Filthy straw lines the floors of those cells, the hinged doors of which are secured by chains and padlocks. A pair of disheveled woman and a boy are held in the cell to the south, while a teenage girl is confined to the north. All are dressed in plain gray tunics and have iron collars fitted around their necks. A heap of discarded clothing is piled carelessly against the far wall.
When he enters the room, he sees a fat disgusting Redbrand on top of a girl. Vayle's blood boils with rage as he witnesses the despicable act unfolding before him. Without a moment's hesitation, he charges into the room, the red cloak billowing behind him. The fat Redbrand, startled by Vayle's sudden appearance, turns his head, a leering grin on his face. "What the hell are you doing here? This is none of your business!" the fat Redbrand growls, attempting to pull up his trousers.
Vayle's eyes narrow with fury as he takes swift action, unsheathing his scimitar with a flourish. With a powerful swing, he strikes the Redbrand across the face, sending him sprawling to the ground. The girl, terrified and disheveled, scrambles to cover herself. "You're scum." Vayle seethes, his voice dripping with contempt. "I'm here to put an end to your reign of terror."
The fat Redbrand, dazed from the blow, attempts to scramble to his feet, but Vayle moves with lightning speed. He delivers a swift kick to the Redbrand's gut, forcing him back to the ground, writhing in pain. "You will never touch her again." Vayle declares, his voice laced with determination. Keeping a vigilant eye on the fat Redbrand, Vayle extends a hand to the shaken girl, helping her up and wrapping a cloak around her to provide some modicum of modesty and comfort.
"Are you okay?" he asks gently, his voice softer now, filled with empathy.
The girl nods, tears streaming down her face. "Thank you... thank you for saving me." she manages to whisper, her voice trembling.
Vayle's heart aches at the girl's pain, and he gently guides her towards the door, away from the fallen Redbrand.
"Stay close to me. We're getting you out of here." he assures her, his voice filled with unwavering resolve.

Vayle's words bring a glimmer of hope to the captives in the cell. The woman, Ms. Dendrar, looks up at him with tear-filled eyes, her voice trembling as she responds. "Yes, I am Ms. Dendrar. Mirna Dendrar. Thank the gods you've come." she says, her voice filled with a mixture of relief and fear.
Vayle swiftly unlocks the cell door, allowing Ms. Dendrar and the others to step out into the dimly lit corridor. They are weak and disoriented, but the spark of freedom reignites their spirits. "Please, stay close to me. We need to move quickly and quietly." Vayle advises, his voice filled with urgency. "I'll do everything in my power to get you all back to town safely."

Vayle swiftly ushers the Dendrar family, Simon, and the female Redbrand out of the hallway and into the armory. With a nod to Simon, Vayle indicates that they should proceed outside while he attends to Iarno. As Vayle opens the armory door, he finds Iarno still bound and under Ripper's watchful gaze. The evil mage's eyes widen in surprise as Vayle and the female Redbrand emerge.
"Time to go, Glasstaff." Vayle says firmly, his voice leaving no room for argument. "This Redbrand here will be responsible for your custody." The female Redbrand, initially taken aback by the sudden turn of events, nods silently, a mix of confusion and apprehension evident on her face. Vayle gestures for her to step forward, and as she does, he transfers Iarno's custody to her, making it clear that she is to keep him secure and under control. She hesitates for a moment, glancing between Vayle and Iarno, but ultimately accepts the responsibility.
"Make sure he doesn't cause any trouble." Vayle warns sternly, his eyes fixed on Iarno. "We're heading back to town, and I don't want any surprises." With that, Vayle joins the others outside the hideout, the weight of the rescued captives and the captured Glasstaff now in the hands of capable individuals. Together, they begin their journey back to Phandalin, a mixture of relief and determination fueling their steps.
As they make their way through the moonlit wilderness, Vayle remains vigilant, keeping a watchful eye on their surroundings. The Dendrar family walks close to him, finding solace and security in his presence. Their path is guided by the faint glow of Phandalin on the horizon, a beacon of hope drawing them closer with each passing moment. Vayle's heart is filled with a sense of accomplishment, knowing that they have successfully rescued the captives and dealt a blow to the Redbrand menace.

As they reach the town center, Vayle gathers Simon and the female Redbrand aside. He takes a moment to address them, his voice firm and resolute. Vayle walks side by side with the relieved and grateful Dendrar family, leading them towards the Stonehill Inn. The weight of their rescue is lifted off their shoulders, replaced with an air of hope and gratitude. As they step into the inn, Trilena's eyes scan the room until they meet Mirna's, and their gazes lock in a mix of relief, joy, and unspoken love.
Trilena releases Mirna's hand and rushes towards her children, Nars and Nilsa, who are waiting anxiously near the entrance. They embrace each other tightly, tears streaming down their faces, unable to contain their overwhelming emotions. The room fills with the sound of their tearful cries, blending into a symphony of happiness and relief.
In the midst of this heartfelt reunion, Toblen, the innkeeper, comes forward with warm food and comforting smiles. Understanding the importance of the moment, he swiftly attends to their needs, providing nourishment and a welcoming atmosphere.
Once the immediate needs are met, Trilena turns her attention back to Vayle, her eyes shining with gratitude. Vayle and Simon cautiously make their way through the entrance of Tresendar Manor, their senses heightened as they enter the familiar territory. Vayle's eyes scan the surroundings, taking note of any changes or signs of recent activity.
The door opens onto a five-foot-wide landing fifteen feet above a large cellar, with stone steps descending to the floor in two short flights. Another door stands beneath the stairs to the north. A large stone cistern occupies the western part of the room, whose walls are lined with kegs and barrels.
As they move further into the manor, Vayle's attention is drawn to the cistern. Intrigued, he approaches the cistern and begins to inspect it carefully. His keen eyes quickly spot a hidden compartment, concealed within the structure. Vayle says that Iarno tried to bargain his life with this piece of information.
With a sense of curiosity, Vayle opens the compartment and discovers a small kit inside. It is Iarno's getaway kit, contains a potion of healing, a potion of invisibility, 50 gp, and a clean set of ordinary travel clothing that would aid in a swift escape. Vayle examines the contents, noting the significance of its presence. It confirms that Iarno had intended to flee, perhaps anticipating the inevitable consequences of his actions.
Aware of the implications, Vayle shares his findings with Simon, emphasizing the significance of Iarno's attempt to evade capture. It reinforces the urgency of their mission and the need to ensure that no remnants of the Redbrand threat remain in the manor.

Vayle and Simon exchange glances, both recognizing the potential opportunity presented by the room to the north of the cistern. Vayle considers Simon's suggestion and realizes that using Glasstaff as a means of persuasion might just work in their favor.
With a nod of agreement, Vayle hands over the recovered Glasstaff to Simon, who takes a moment to familiarize himself with its appearance and grip. Vayle reminds Simon to approach the situation cautiously and to emphasize the changed circumstances within Phandalin.
As they approach the room, Vayle signals for Simon to take the lead. Simon takes a deep breath to steady himself, holding Glasstaff prominently as he enters the room. The sight of the Redbrands, groggily stirring from their slumber, meets his gaze.
Using his most confident tone, Simon addresses the surprised Redbrands, his words carrying the weight of authority mixed with a touch of persuasion. He explains that Glasstaff, their former leader, has been apprehended and their cause has lost its power. Simon invites them to consider a different path, one that involves protecting the town they once terrorized.
The Redbrands, initially wary and uncertain, listen to Simon's words with a mixture of curiosity and skepticism. Vayle watches the scene unfold, prepared to intervene if needed but hoping that Simon's words will find resonance with these wayward individuals.
After a few moments of contemplation, one of the Redbrands steps forward, expressing doubts and concerns. Simon maintains his composure, addressing each concern with empathy and understanding. He emphasizes the opportunity for redemption and the chance to rebuild their lives within a community that can offer support and a fresh start.
Slowly, the resistance of the Redbrands begins to waver. Recognizing the sincerity in Simon's words and inspired by the prospect of a new purpose, they begin to nod in agreement, willing to consider the alternative path presented to them.
Vayle watches with a mix of relief and satisfaction as the Redbrands accept Simon's offer. He steps forward, commending their decision and assuring them that their commitment to protecting Phandalin will not go unnoticed or unrewarded.

The scene is set in the dimly lit cellar of Tresendar Manor. Vayle stands before the cell holding the Redbrand who had assaulted Nilsa, a mixture of anger and determination etched across his face. The Redbrand, battered and bruised, pleads for his life, fear evident in his eyes. "Please, please spare me! I-I didn't mean to harm her, I swear!"
"(Coldly) Spare you? You think your apologies will undo the pain you caused? You violated an innocent girl, and for that, there can be no forgiveness." Vayle grips the Redbrand by the collar of his tattered cloak, dragging him forcefully towards the crevasse. The Redbrand's cries grow louder, his desperation reaching a fever pitch. "Mercy! I beg you, have mercy! I'll do anything, anything you ask!"
Vayle's eyes meet the Redbrand's, a glint of resolve shining through his gaze. "You had your chance at redemption. You chose to join a gang of criminals, terrorizing this town and harming its people. You made your bed, and now you must lie in it." With a swift and forceful motion, Vayle hurls the Redbrand into the depths of the crevasse. As the Redbrand plummets, his cries morph into panicked pleas. The sound of the Nothic's approach echoes through the cavern, eliciting a mixture of horror and relief from the doomed man. "Do you hunger for fresh meat? Feast on this wretch, a fitting end for his sins!" He yells to the Nothic.
As the Nothic closes in on the fallen Redbrand, the man's screams turn into terrified squeals, a last futile attempt to escape his fate. Moments later, silence reigns, broken only by the satisfied growls of the Nothic. Vayle takes a moment to steady himself, his breaths heavy with a mix of anger, satisfaction, and a touch of remorse. He turns away from the crevasse, leaving behind the consequences of the Redbrand's actions. Vayle heads back to the cellar's entrance, preparing to join Simon, his mind focused on the task that still lies ahead.

As Vayle puts his elf ear next to the door of the guard barracks, he strains to listen carefully. Over the muffled sounds of the goblin's whimpering and the barking orders of the tall, furry humanoids, he manages to make out snippets of their conversation.
Tall Humanoid 1: ...lazy goblin! Can't even fetch us a decent meal.
Tall Humanoid 2: Don't worry, we'll find a way to entertain ourselves soon. The boss wants us ready for action.
Tall Humanoid 3: Yeah, he's got something big planned. Said it'll put us in a better position.
Their voices are gruff and filled with a sense of arrogance, displaying their contempt for the goblin under their command. The room itself emanates a putrid stench, a mixture of unwashed bodies and decaying meat.
Vayle's keen ears catch a few more scattered words and phrases, giving him a glimpse into their intentions.
Tall Humanoid 1: ...townsfolk won't know what hit 'em. Redbrands will reign supreme.
Tall Humanoid 2: ...secure the supplies. Don't leave anything for the rats.
Vayle pulls his ear away from the door, a grim determination etched on his face. The words he heard confirm his suspicions that the Redbrands have a grander plan in motion, one that threatens the safety of Phandalin and its people. As Vayle places his ear against the door of the common room, he strains to listen to the conversation taking place inside. The clamor of voices and the clinking of tankards fills the room, but Vayle focuses on deciphering the words being spoken.

Redbrand 2: About time. We could use some more muscle to put these townsfolk in their place.
Redbrand 3: And don't forget the spoils. Our cut gets bigger with each new raid.

Redbrand 5: We just need to keep the pressure on. Show these peasants who's in control.

"Simon, I need you to accompany the Redbrand to the Townmaster's Hall." Vayle instructs, his gaze focused on his companion. "Make sure Sildar takes custody of Iarno and ensures that justice is served. Keep a close eye on him until then."
Simon nods in understanding, his expression serious. "I will handle it, Vayle." he replies, determination evident in his voice. "I won't let him escape." Turning to the female Redbrand, Vayle speaks with a measured tone. "You, accompany Simon and assist him in keeping Iarno secure. Make sure he doesn't cause any trouble." The female Redbrand, though still unsure and conflicted, nods in acknowledgment. She understands the importance of their task and silently agrees to fulfill her role.
"Thank you both for your cooperation." Vayle says, his voice carrying a sense of gratitude. "Your assistance is appreciated." With that, Simon and the female Redbrand take their leave, escorting Iarno to the Townmaster's Hall under Vayle's watchful gaze. Vayle's attention then shifts to the Dendrar family, whom he leads to a safe and comfortable place in the town, ensuring their well-being and offering support in their time of recovery.

Unable to hold back her emotions, she throws herself into his arms, wrapping him in a tender, loving hug. Vayle returns the embrace, a warmth spreading through his being as he feels the depth of Trilena's gratitude.
Through teary eyes and a quivering voice, Trilena expresses her heartfelt thanks. She tells Vayle that she never doubted his capabilities and his dedication to saving her family. Her words carry immense appreciation and admiration for the ranger standing before her, a hero who came to their aid in their darkest hour.
In that moment, Vayle realizes the impact his actions have had on the lives of those he has rescued. The weight of responsibility is matched by the joy and fulfillment he feels in bringing hope and happiness to others. He holds Trilena close, offering comfort and reassurance, letting her know that she and her family are safe and protected.

As Vayle shares the horrifying truth about Nilsa's ordeal, Trilena's shock and disbelief are etched on her face. She listens attentively, her heart heavy with anger and sadness for what the girl had to endure. Vayle's assurance that justice will be served brings a flicker of hope to her eyes, and she trusts that he will fulfill his promise.
Taking a deep breath, Trilena gathers herself and resolves to protect and support Nilsa with unwavering love and care. She assures Vayle that she will be there for the girl, providing the nurturing and healing environment she needs to recover from the traumatic experience. Vayle can see the fierce determination in Trilena's eyes, understanding that she will do everything in her power to ensure the children's well-being.
When Vayle mentions the lingering presence of the Redbrands under the manor, Trilena's concern deepens, and she instinctively reaches out and clasps his hand tightly. Her touch is a plea for caution and a silent request for him to prioritize his own safety. Vayle recognizes the genuine worry in her eyes, knowing that she fears for his life and the dangers that lie ahead.
With a gentle squeeze of her hand, Vayle reassures Trilena that he will exercise utmost caution as he faces the remaining Redbrands. He understands the significance of his mission and the need to eradicate the threat completely. Though his heart aches to see the worry in her eyes, he promises Trilena that he will do everything within his power to ensure his own safety.
The weight of their shared concern lingers in the air, a reminder of the risks involved in their fight against evil. Yet, amidst the gravity of the situation, there remains an unspoken bond between them, forged by trust, gratitude, and a shared determination to protect what they hold dear.
As they part ways for now, Vayle carries Trilena's concern with him, knowing that it serves as a reminder of the lives he fights to protect. With a final glance and a promise etched in his heart, he sets off once again, resolute in his mission to rid Phandalin of the Redbrand menace.

Vayle enters the Townmaster's Hall and spots Simon engaged in a conversation with Elara, the former Redbrand. They appear to be getting along, and Vayle smiles at the sight of their camaraderie. He joins them and introduces Elara to Sildar, expressing his gratitude for her decision to protect the town. Elara nods respectfully at Sildar, acknowledging her newfound role.
Leaving Elara and Simon to continue their conversation, Vayle makes his way to the basement where Sildar awaits. As he approaches, Sildar's expression carries a mix of seriousness and relief. Vayle can sense that there's news to be shared.
Sildar explains that Iarno, also known as Glasstaff, has been detained and will face justice for his crimes. The Lords' Alliance has been informed of his capture, and they will take custody of him soon. Sildar commends Vayle for his bravery and resourcefulness in dealing with the Redbrands, emphasizing the importance of their actions in restoring peace to Phandalin.
Vayle nods, absorbing the information. He expresses his satisfaction at the outcome and thanks Sildar for his support throughout the mission.

He nods in understanding, appreciating Vayle's commitment to ensuring the complete eradication of the threat. Sildar acknowledges the importance of thoroughly securing the hideout to guarantee the town's safety.
Leaving the Townmaster's Hall, Vayle and Sildar go their separate ways temporarily.

While waiting for Simon's return, he goes to the south of the cistern. According to Iarno, there is a secret door in the southwest corner. Perception: 23
Just as Simon returns, Vayle opens the door to the west. "This way." Vayle signals the Sorcerer. The door opens to a dark hallway that eventually leads back to the southern end of the crevasse. As Vayle crosses the southern bridge to the other side of the crevasse, the bridge collapses.

Vayle deftly jumps back to the eastern end of the bridge just in time. "Wow. Good thing I crossed it first." They cross the crevasse through the north bridge, and they make to another dark hallway at the south west corner of the cave. Vayle signals for Simon to be quiet here. "According to Iarno, there are a few Bugbears that are staying the guard barracks, the room to the left at the end of the hallway. Then there are several Redbrands in the common room to the right at the end of the hallway. I don't think we will be able to talk our way out of this fight. I will scout ahead, and you stay here ready for anything." Simon nods, acknowledging the situation.

With the information in hand, Vayle takes a step back, his mind focused on the imminent confrontation that lies ahead.

As Vayle places his ear against the door of the common room, he strains to listen to the conversation taking place inside. The clamor of voices and the clinking of tankards fills the room, but Vayle focuses on deciphering the words being spoken.
Redbrand 1: ...I heard that new recruits are being sent our way. Fresh blood for the ranks.
Redbrand 2: About time. We could use some more muscle to put these townsfolk in their place.
Redbrand 3: And don't forget the spoils. Our cut gets bigger with each new raid.
The room is filled with an air of boisterous confidence as the Redbrand Redbrands revel in their ill-gotten gains. Vayle's keen ears pick up additional snippets of conversation, giving him further insight into their activities.
Redbrand 4: ...the boss is pleased with our progress. Says we're close to achieving his vision.
Redbrand 5: We just need to keep the pressure on. Show these peasants who's in control.
Vayle pulls his ear away from the door, his expression hardened with resolve. The words he heard confirm that the Redbrands are not just a ragtag band of thugs. With the knowledge gleaned from their conversation, Vayle's mind races with strategies and preparations for the coming confrontation. He knows that the fight ahead will be challenging, but he remains resolute in his mission to rid Phandalin of the Redbrand menace.

Vayle goes back to Simon. "There are about three Bugbears in the room to the left, and about half dozen Redbrands to the room to the right at the end of the hallway. We would have a hard time taking them separate, but not if they fight together. I have an idea that will make our life easier. Simon, can you create an illusion, an audible illusion by the Bugbear's door that sounds like a Redbrand is insulting them, then lead them to the room to the north of them?"
Simon nods excitingly. "Yes!! I can do that. You mean to make them fight each other first!" Vayle smiles back. "Alright, step back." Simon concentrates for a moment, then looks at the end of the hallway.
The disembodied voice of what sounds like a Redbrand yells from that location. "Those useless ugly big balls of fur are useless!! We should take them out, so there is less to share!!"
