The pilot was Catherine and she said, "Yes, the payment was per person so more people means more cash."
(It's been 6 months IRL but only a few days in game. 6 months IRL because I've been running Elsara as an NPC for a good amount of time before benching her)
Runt is glad to see Elsara return from her personal business. Though Runt had hardly been with the group herself when Elsara departed so she doesn't know the elf very well.

Devarus politely smiles and even bows a little to Elsara. However, he is slow to speak, wishing for everyone to enjoy their reunion. Looks over the new arrival are still stolen where he can, as he sought to take her measure. The three blades earn a quirk of the brow. Although sooner after, he's rolling his eyes over Gendan's comment.
"A pleasure to make your acquaintance again, Miss Elsara. I hope the joy of study will last you some time. As it may be far longer before such leisure can be taken again." He would say to Elsara eventually and grins a little at the small joke. "Thank you for delivering her safely."He would say to Catherine before she leaves.

Elsara waves as she watches the carriage fly off, then spins on the spot to look back at the party. "So... what did I miss?"She asks. "I was doing some research into our mystery school of Affectus Uti. I've got some notes I've formally submitted to Mr. Sweetcane."
"It's so good to see you again Elsara!" says Valwaryn after giving her a huge hug. " You have missed some interesting events.." he says " Let us update you as we start our new assignement. It had to do with Affectus Uti too... and it started with a mission to check on this city...."
Devarus trust the others to tell the tale as he lead the way to the docks. Even if informed of their eventual arrival, they still needed to confirm just how soon they would be shipping out from whoever was in charge of the expedition. Along the way he fills in whatever gaps in the telling seemed appropriate, hiding nothing. This included an admission of guilt in possibly endangering Runt alongside another apology.
And, if he were to get slapped for it, he never makes a move to avoid it.
Devarus is an aged half-elf, having clearly seen his first century, but stands tall at a little over six feet. He is garbed in the dusty red and brown traveler's clothing reminiscent of the uniform worn by Sydill. A part of which has been overlapped by Mythril half-plate and gauntlets whose outward design gives off the feeling of being possibly magical in nature. Age has yet to rob the luster to sharp blue eyes, and short, stark white hair is pulled back into a makeshift bun in the back.
He is, in a word, armed to the teeth in an array of weapons that his slight physique should just not be capable of carrying without being bent at the back. And yet, he somehow supports a scimitar, longsword, and throwing hammer at his hips, a unstrung longbow in hand, and what appears to be some kind of modified heavy crossbow attached in part to a fairly stuffed pack.
(To Pokepaladdy: Have you been/already caught up OOC, or do you want actually cliff notes about what happen? Spoken by Valwaryn, clearly)

Runt averts her eyes away from the group when the tale is told of her experience with the amulet. Despite what ever provocation came from the foul magic, Runt is clearly ashamed of her words and actions. Her tough outer facing has been damaged. She has also wrapped makeshift bandages around her hands to hide bloodies knuckles. The small, fair half orc has been through some thing recently that have wracked her mental state.
The party heads toward the captain of the Vortex. The captain is a tall half-elven man. He has brown hair and a strong jaw-ling. He is geared with studded leather armor, a black captain's hat and a Silver Rapier. He says, "You're from the Guild? I gotta' say, you sure arrived here fast. We set sail at 4 AM tomorrow."
Elsara energetically shakes the captain's hand, she is obviously overly excited about being back into the swing of things. "Nice to meet you, Captain Cerax. I already said that, didn't I?"She is smiling ecstatically. "So we've got our mission information from The Guild, but perhaps we should hear from your side, just in case we missed a couple of details." She lets go of the captain's hand, realising she shook for a little bit longer than what is socially comfortable.
The captain says, "The Vortex is a special ship. She is a refurbished cargo ship. So we are going to sail around the ocean. The pirates are going to think our ship is for cargo and then we will wipe them out with our heavy artillery. It's a simple plan but should be quite effective."
In spite of the temptation, Devarus could only mutely offer a word of comfort to Runt in the form of a glance. Thus distracted, he hurries through a respectful bow back to Cerax. "And of these pirates? Is it a single but expansive band? Or potential several separate once with different known tacts?" Devarus request. Once he had that much, the old half-elf would be content to find an Inn, an mull things over before rest eventually claim them.

The captain says, "There are various bands but one is particularly vicious and that's the one we're after. There have always been pirates in the waters and the Coast guard has always been warring against them. We kept the waters safe enough for trade to be possible. However, there is one upstart band that's been attacking anything and everything they see. They are making merchants and passenger ships unwilling to set sail. So we are going to take this gang down. Failing that, we will cripple them so that trade and travel may resume."

(I got a quick rundown as to what's happened.)
Elsara will skip along with the group, happily listening to their tales and exploits.
Upon arriving and hearing from the captain, Elsara nods. "Yep, that's us. Nice to meet you!" She holds her hand out for a handshake.
The captain shakes Elsara's hand. The man man says, "I am captain Cerax of the Cosmer Coast Guard. I look forward to working with you."

(OOC: Added extra lore stuff. It should provide some explanation of why you can buy magic items from shops and have pegasus carriages. )

"Ohh!" Elsara spins to turn to Val. "Maybe you could be a shark! Do some super sneaky underwater patrolling."
