Gridolpho darts towards the pirate and slashes him across the thigh... severing an artery. The man falls to the ground and dies in a pool of blood.
And with that, the combat is concluded. Several people are staring in shock from the windows of the various buildings. Jack, as stated earlier, has disappeared and is unlikely to be found.
"Well, that is certainly one way to start your day off with a bang," says a gruff voice. "Now, would you folks care to explain what the hell just happened here?"
Three town guards have just arrived on the scene, likely drawn by the sounds of either the thunderwave, the gunshots, or both. Two of them look like they're about to vomit, while the leader almost looks bored with the whole situation.

"A returning of a favor," says 'Naut nonchalantly. "Our companion was attacked, and the attackers in turn received an attack. It appears our own was rather more successful, unfortunately for them."
They procure a rag and begin polishing the superficial nicks the pirates' weapons delivered to their armor, though one scratch in particular looks like it's going to need a little more work to get out.

Sayyida nodded as she cleaned her blade trying to hide her anger that the most important target had escaped.
" Was there a bounty for these scum? Just out of interest?", Sayyida grinned. " They are all known pirates formerly of Hailstorms crew."
Does Gridolpho, a recurrent suspect and recidivist, recognize the officer in question?
Gridolpho, you would recognize this gentleman as Constable Warren. He's a strict but fair man, but very fair overall.
The constable sighs as he nudges one of the corpses with his foot.
"There may well be bounties for them... if they can be positively identified, which might be a challenge considering what a mess you lot have made of them," the Constable says. "I'm afraid that you six will need to answer a few questions down at the station. It shouldn't take very long, if these men were indeed pirates as you say. But I want to get your statements for the record."

The warning about the tiefling proved to be of little need for his own attack shattered the Armor of Agathys the poor bastard had conjured. The next strike brought him death, a fate most of his companions shared. Jack scaped. That is a way put Blackstone after us. Provided the gnome was working with the captain. The problem is that they may come after us for vengeance. Something that could prove a challenge in negotiations about entering the crew.
“We are merchants in the service of this city, meant to encounter Admiral North in a moment.” The halfling said presenting Jameson’s letter regarding their meeting later. He considered showing the piece of silver, but in the end thought it better not. There were too many eyes there and it was not certain that every men at arms in the city could be trusted. It was better to keep their position as undercover agents a secret as much as possible. “We are happy to collaborate if doing so does not conflict with the meeting ordered by the admiral. I must also mention that the criminals not only attacked first but were stalking us before the fight started, which can be tied to their intention to disturb our job. We are contractually bound to not reveal the details of the trade deal we are conducting, but you are free to inquire our employer further.”
"Be that as it may, I'm still going to need to get your statements," the Constable says. "If you all have somewhere to be, then it would probably be in your best interest to get to the station without a fuss so that we can get this over with quickly."
He glances over his shoulder at the two young guards and points at one of them (a half-orc woman who looks even greener than half-orcs usually do... she's probably new at this job).
"Bridgette! I'm going to need you to collect the dead and any evidence that you can find. Officer Martin and I will take these six to the station for questioning."
The woman nods silently and starts securing the scene. The other guard, a Goliath, steps forward to escort you to the station. What do you all do at this point?

Aerleo’s muscle return to there normal large size and his beastly features begin to fade as he calms down but he says nothing to better understand how the surface handles these types of matters.
Sayyida smiled and approached the Constable, " Well, then. If that is the case I place myself most willingly into the well callused hands of the Law."
" Would it be alright if I gave a collective statement for my companions as well? That way they can make the meeting with the Admiral, make my apologise then I can catch up once we've finished our interlude."
"I'd love to be accommodating, but we're going to need to talk to all of you to make sure the statements line up," the Constable says.
(If anyone wants to take the help action, I'm willing to retroactively give Sayyida advantage on the Persuasion check so she can roll it again; Constable Warren will still want to talk to more than one person, but it may be possible to convince him to let someone go to meet with the Admiral while the rest of you are getting this straightened out at the station).
“Sir, I understand that you are following protocol but it might be worth to consider that this is not an usual situation. We all know that the highest-ranking authority in Northport on matters regarding piracy is the Admiral Jameson North. We will report directly to him and as we said before and you can easily confirm reading the letter I just presented to you, we are working directly under his command for the city and in a matter related to trade, which means that our incumbency also falls under the jurisdictions of Governor Spence and Lady Hartford.” Not that they would report to them. At least not as far Emrys knew. Maybe they were partners on the Admiral’s plan. It would certainly be hard to ship a large quantity of muskets if either of them offered opposition. “With all of this in mind just imagine what will happen if any sort of loss or delay results from following protocol here. Do you really want to risk displeasing any one of those three?”
Discharge would be the least of the worries for any normal soldier that opposed such figures of authority. By virtue of his position the constable should have experience enough to understand the fact better than anyone there.
“You don’t need to speak to any of us if we speak with the Admiral and we will, but if this letter alone cannot convince you of that then accompany us to the Tide Runner. This way law will be served, you will have less work and there will be no risk to your careers.”
Question for the DM: Considering that displeasing any of the mentioned political figures (Admiral North, Governor Spence and Lady Hartford) would be career suicide for a guard (if not literal suicide considering the grim tendency of the game) and that following the party to the Tide Caller would indeed be a faster and safer alternative to the guards, is there any chance that the constable would agree to Emrys suggestion without the need of a skill check?
(Answer from the DM: I'm willing to give you advantage on a Persuasion roll because you have a good argument and because Sayyida already made a decent argument as well; the DC isn't very high, but I want a roll just in case.)
'Naut sits by, metaphorically twiddling their thumbs while Emrys speaks. When the speech is finished, they pipe up.
"Also, if you were to go through with the whole process of detaining us, I imagine it would be rather inconvenient to clap manacles around wrists of my thickness. Just a thought."

The Constable sighs... but it's clear that Emrys' argument has won him over.
"It's not entirely within protocol," he mumbles. "But... I suppose that, given the situation, it is probably for the best to get the good Admiral to sort it out. Come on, let's get to the docks and have a chat with the master of the Tide Runner."

Areleo will yell at Naut, "Naut go after the spinless Dwarf and Areleo will take care of this last brave Pirate."
Areleo will then run to the last pirate claws still out and a slight murders smile on his face and slashes them recklessly.
Reckless Attack 1 - 21 to hit 4 + 2 for rage = 6 damage
Reckless Attack 2 - nat 20! to hit 15+ 2 for rage = 17 damage
Well then...
Areleo's vicious assault leaves the pirate horribly bloodied and barely standing! But... he's still up (for the moment)...
