“We would need to make a detour.” He whispered back at Sea. “It would add a day and a half of our journey, provided we don’t stay for long.” Not the best choice with three extra mouths on board. “Besides it’s likely they will look at our log, see that we suddenly change route to be there during the attack. If they think we are hunting the crew things will become all the more complicated. Rather than impressing him we could end on the book of enemies to be eliminated.”
The more Emrys spoke the surer he was that their safest option was to wait to be attacked. If the gnome was connected to Hailstorm it wouldn’t take long. The problem is if he’s not, said the voice of his mind. Gods damn uncertainty.
“Any strange movement from the newcomers?” He had to ask. The quartet had made a good impression as far as the halfling was concerned. As good of an impression as someone taken from the sea moments after a shipwreck could, at least. But then, first impressions were not everything. Arleo and Sae herself didn’t exactly make for a good impression but their actions proved time and again how trustworthy they are. The contrary could very well be true on the case of castaways.
Sayyida approached Emrys, " So we keep them on? If...when....we are attacked if they survive they will be given the choice to join or die. Now our orcish friend will be fine, but the two lads, the fop and the cook are likely going to be summarily executed. Are we ok with that?"
" I'll back your play, I just need to know what our scenario looks like."
Sae gives a strange look to the sword that Aerleo brought up from the wreck, but says nothing until 'Naut has finished examining it. Then she approaches Aerleo with a strange look on her face. You have never seen her look so vulnerable, but at the same time you have never seen the haunted look in her eyes this strong. She seems to want to ask something and at the same time dreads and longs for the answer. At last slow words come:
"There ... wasn't another ... wood elf aboard there, was there? They would have ... worn one of these ... "
She unties the silk scarf she wears around her neck and draws out a medallion from her tunic by the chain that was carefully arranged under the silk. It is a simple design on carved and painted horn, thorny vines twining around two linked elven 'T' runes. Each vine bears a single black rose at the top.

Least of all without they knowing.” Emrys admitted when Sayyida spoke, putting a hand over his chin. What other option could there be? “We could send them off in one of the lifeboats when we get close to port or if we are attacked before then. I mean, neither me nor Aero need one to escape at sea.”
As Sae approached triton and hydrozoan the paladin brought up another matter, one he had kept out of mind given the necessity to trace and retrace their route, specially with the whole storm situation.

Was the wizard a subordinate of the new Hailstorm? A mole North accidentally hired? Or did he just decided the risk was not worth the pay? Emrys could only hope for the later. Otherwise things were bound to become far more complicated.

As Sae looks at the blade, she can tell that it is of elvish origin, even if the Triton didn't find it on an elf.
(OOC: Even though 'Naut basically said that the sword is only useful for messing up stealth missions, which is usually true, it does have the benefit of bypassing non-magical damage resistances and immunities).

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?

"If we sail past and lower the boat in sight of shore its an easy row for them and we don't lose time moving in and out of harbour..."
Sayyida went to count the boats to see if Merigar had 'borrowed' one.
Sayyida spends a fair amount of time swearing before heading over and informing Emrys....but as a fair number of the crew are acquatic in nature they can make do with reduced boats.
"Areleo, I'd like to borrow one of those gems of yours. In exchange, I believe that I have something that may be of interest to you. I have a device capable of producing a small amount of poison daily. It can provide you with a method of enhancing your attacks, which will be a definite aid in battle."
(Every day of this journey, 'Naut is using their alchemy jug to produce poison, at a rate of 8 days per full vial.)
Sayyida understood the true meaning of his question and went to check on the boats without delay, her findings becoming clear by her swearing. Emrys nodded his head, closing his eyes and biting his lips in frustration. If Merigar was a mole and manages to tell their plan to Hailstorm then not even Yevelda could easy their way into the crew. One bet more to make.
“ATEN-TION!” He shouted turning to the deck. “It has come to attention of our First Mate that one of our lifeboats is missing.” Goldenleaf became as the crew eyes turned to him. “Coincidentally one of the crewmates that Admiral North, the man who hired our mercantile services, insisted we took on this travel is missing. The missing man, a dwarf by the name of Merigar, presented himself as former pirate rather familiar with individuals connected to a certain Captain Haisltorm. In another words, and given our patron, it is likely that our route will be leaked to the privateers.” His message would have ended there if it was just the starting crew. The wizard’s flight was the only news to them.“The original members of this crew took this job ready to fight any enemy draw by the name of the Admiral, but the same cannot be said of our new additions and as such I want to give all of you the opportunity to choose staying on this ship or taking one boat and making your way to a safe port. If you stay do so assuming you will put your life on the line by fighting against pirates and be ready to keep following my orders if we are captured.” It was the same danger Jameson’s quest carried. “What do you say?”

"I can give you another sword like it, but shorter," she replies, pulling out a moonlight short sword of very similar design, "but that isn't worth quite as much. I don't know what else you might like ... I'll show you the things I have now, and if none of them suits I'll give you part of my first share of plunder to make up the difference. I would definitely like to trade for it though ... it is certainly elvish make, and I think it might be one of the swords the scouts of my clan are presented when we pass our initiation trials. In which case, what was it doing ..." She trails off, realizing there's probably no way of ever finding out for sure now that any evidence is at the bottom of the sea.

The brothers exchange a shocked look. The cook looks as if he's going to faint. Meanwhile, the half-orc looks completely unphased.
"Wait... you're telling us that we're planning to be set upon by pirates?" William says after recovering somewhat from the shocking revelation. "We got lucky the first time, who's to say they won't just slit all our throats as soon as they get their hands on us?"
Yvelda grunts... it's clear that there's something on her mind, but she isn't speaking up just yet.

“No, Mr. Thompson.” Emrys started collected, though his voice was loud and clear. “I’m saying that at this point one would need to be naïve to the extreme in order to think we won’t be and that part of the responsibility for this fact lies with Admiral Jameson North of Northport.”That much was true. He was not saying that they planned to be set by the pirates even thought they did. “I will not lie to any of you – there is no guarantee that by staying you will survive. Not even after capture. In the worst-case scenario the most battle ready and the cook are more than likely to be offered a position on the pirate crew while everyone else is executed. If you feel unsure about your chances of survival, this is the moment to speak. You can have a boat and go on your way.”
Arleo and himself were able to breath and move freely on the sea. ‘Naut was an arcanist and a builder. Sayyida an experienced sailor and Sae a stealth fighter. They almost sure to be recruited. Yevelda would be considered part of the pirate crew already and going by her reaction it seemed she would stay. She’ll make for good help in battle and after.

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."

How many Gems would Naut' want and what would they give Areleo in return?
Sayyidas eyes narrowed as she looked about, " Speaking of vermin....where has our dwarf friend gotten too?"
He would only need one gemstone for his homunculus servant. No idea what he wants to give you in exchange for the gem, though.
