By the time Foppington approaches Narrakas if maybe but to gauge the skill of the pint-sized terror, he'd see most of scratches at least were covered up in bandages or still wet from the bit of alcohol used to try and disinfect the wounds. However, even to the untrained eye it may seem a slapdash effort at best, and likely want to hurt if applied to another. Yet ifhis courage yet held and Narrakas is askedonce done with his work, the goblin (or halfling half-orc OR halfling with a very bad skin condition) would size him up before wrinkling up his face and saying, "Eh, sure. Don't need more dead heads, after all. And tender heads over yonder only so good."
(Rolls kept in spoiler in case there's a change of heart)
All having rested and healed as best as they can through the night and early morning, the adventurers join the others in the tavern room of the inn for an early start of the day.
Two of the cart drivers have just returned from outside and are having an intense but hushed conversation with Master Garret. After a few more words, he dismisses the drivers who nervously wring thier caps in their hands. He exchanges a few words with Lady Othmor, then steps aside as Lady Othmor rises, her face a picture of concern and determination. The bustle of preparations quiets down, and an air of anticipation fills the air.
"My dear travelers and brave companions," Lady Othmor addresses the group, her voice clear and commanding. "Last night, we faced an unexpected challenge, and some of our valued members are missing. It seems one of our horses has vanished, and our guards are nowhere to be found."
She pauses for a moment, her gaze sweeping across the faces of the adventurers, acknowledging their strength and abilities. "In light of these unforeseen circumstances, I must ask for your assistance once more. You have proven yourselves capable and trustworthy, and I know that I can rely on your courage."
Lady Othmor's eyes meet each adventurer's, and she continues with a genuine smile. "I understand the value of your skills and time, and I am prepared to compensate you generously for your services. Your presence will help ease the concerns of our fellow travelers and ensure their safety until we reach our destination."
With a small nod, she continues, "Would you be willing to stand in as guards for the caravan on our journey to Saltmarsh? I offer a handsome sum for your efforts, in addition to my deepest gratitude."
Narrakas spits off to the side and shakes his head, muttering something about, "Stupid, stupid Tender Heads." He then took a breath, and in seeing the gnome be the first to stand up and accept the request(or maybe close to the first), the goblin would step rubbing his nose a bit, before then puffing out and patting his own chest once. "Sure, uhhh... milady. So long as the pay stays good."

Eldon looks up from the book he’s reading. “Oh, Yes. Id be happy to assist, if my spells can be of service, My Lady. A mage like me always needs coin for spells and components. i am curious.. troubled readlly, on where your guards and horse have gone? did they desert- or were they taken. i will be glad to be far from this place- no offence meant to our host and proprietor”
"Excellent!" Lady Othmor utters each syllable, "I am sure we won't need protection, but one can never be too secure."
"Roight m'lady. An' we best be off as the sun is jus' glowin' through the mists.", declares Master Garret.
The caravan assembles and proceeds forth with the adventurers taking guard positions: two at the front alongside Lady Othmor's wagon, and two in the rear wagon ((I leave it to you to decide who goes where)).
The carts roll on, a little slower since the load and hitches had to be adjusted for the missing horse.
The gray morning turns into a gray afternoon and this too begins to linger. Just as the road through the fog of the Mere seems interminable, the caravan hears children singing.
At first it is just their voices, too indistinct to make out their song. The fog begins to thin and the caravan sees a few homes along the road, the first poor settlement on the outskirts on this side of the Mere. Those who care to listen make out scraps of the children's verse, more of a chorus, as they play.
In the shadows, Caco's seen,
A scorpion dark, so shiny and keen,
His sting is small, but beware, oh, beware,
For he'll lead you to a slumber rare.
(Chorus which the children sing with vigor)
Caco, Caco, scorpion black,
In the night, he'll lead you back,
To dreamland's realm, a slumber deep,
With twinkling eyes, he'll sing you to sleep.
The caravan is now rolling between some of the houses. The adventurers see that one appears to have many finely crafted woven rugs and garments, even a few artistically done baskets. Across from this house is another with a small fenced garden. The garden is divided into organized parcels with the various herbs and other plants growing in a practical and pleasing manner. There is a small sign on this second house which simply says Eliza's Herbs .
Eldon looks up from the book he’s reading. “Oh, Yes. Id be happy to assist, if my spells can be of service, My Lady. ((Missed this post - Lady Othmor and Master Garret only know that the horse and guards are gone, more motivation they do not know, or if the do, they do not divulge.))
Despite some degree of soreness still felt throughout his body, if given half the chance and with little argument from the other new "guards", Narrakas tries to take up a spot towards the front. Later on and though a touch curious and confused, Narrakas quickly dismissed the voice the singers, seeing them as no more an immediate threat than the groups shrunken numbers. But even still... Even still he'd opt to take a few moments to switch around his gear, eventually leading to him strappipng on his shield and keeping a hand near the smaller and billy club at his hip going forward.
"Hmph! Think they sell potions in there?" He asks of whoever else guard wise happened to be in the front while gesturing over to the passing "herb house."

Narrakas raises a brow, only to scoff and wave Foppington off. "'summ'n boss fine with it, you can go right ahead. But ain't got the coin or time to be waste'n fer curiosity. Just you make it quick, and don't let yourself get suckered into some silly side gig without somethin' very, VERY good as a reward." The goblin then gives Fop a wink, before taking out his great club if but with the intent of resting on it like a cane.

Master Garret agrees, giving the signal to halt the caravan. The adventurers then make their way to Eliza's house, where they are warmly greeted by a kind and elderly woman. Eliza's smile is as warm as the morning sun, and her eyes gleam with wisdom earned through years of tending to her herb garden.
"I bid you welcome, travelers," Eliza says in a gentle voice. "It warms my heart to see those seeking remedies for the ailments that may plague them on their journey."
She listens attentively as Lord Foppington and Eldon inquire about healing tinctures or balms. Eliza graciously offers a selection of potent herbs, explaining how they could be used to create effective healing salves and potions.
Among the herbs she has available are:
Aloe Vera: Known for its soothing properties, aloe vera can be used to treat minor burns, skin irritations, and cuts.
Chamomile: A calming herb that can aid in relieving stress and anxiety. It is often used in teas to promote relaxation and restful sleep.
Lavender: With its pleasant aroma, lavender is used for its calming and stress-relieving properties. It can also help with headaches and minor skin irritations.
Echinacea: This herb is believed to boost the immune system and help the body fight off infections, making it a popular choice during times of illness.
Calendula: Known for its anti-inflammatory and healing properties, calendula can be used in salves and ointments to soothe and repair damaged skin.
Peppermint: Refreshing and invigorating, peppermint is used for its digestive benefits and can help alleviate nausea and indigestion.
Comfrey: Comfrey is valued for its ability to promote cell regeneration and heal wounds, making it a valuable herb in salves and poultices.
Elderflower: Often used in teas and tinctures, elderflower is believed to boost the immune system and relieve cold and flu symptoms.
Ginger: With its warming properties, ginger is used to aid digestion, reduce nausea, and alleviate sore throats.
Yarrow: Yarrow is known for its astringent and antiseptic properties, making it useful in treating minor cuts and scrapes.
Eliza takes great pride in her herb garden and carefully tends to each plant to ensure they are of the finest quality for those seeking natural remedies. The healing herbs she offers are a testament to her knowledge and expertise in the world of herbal medicine.
However, she admits that she does not offer any pre-made remedies herself.
"Ah, but fear not," Eliza continues with a hint of playfulness. "If you seek ready-made remedies, you might find what you need at the Apothecary and Tea shop just a little further on. Lydia's concoctions are renowned throughout the settlement."
Shortly after Lord Foppington and Eldon enter Eliza's house, a wiry middle aged woman with even more wiry hair emerges from the house with the woven goods, her arms laden with colorful woolen scarves and finely crafted travel robes. The moment she spots the Othmor crest emblazoned on the lead wagon, her eyes light up with ambition.
"Scarves, robes, and all you need for a comfortable journey!" the weaver calls out, her voice carrying a hint of desperation masked by a veneer of eagerness. "Only the finest quality for noble travelers like yourselves!"
She approaches the caravan with an almost aggressive enthusiasm, showcasing her wares as she subtly glances towards Lady Othmor, seeking to impress her with her products.
Seeing Fop leave Eliza's shop empty handed (without a purchase), the weaver redoubles her sales pitch, "Fine robes and scarves to keep you travelers healthy on the Mere! Much better than wrinkled twigs and roots - you appreciate the warmth of my weaves?"
Eldon (who has skill in crafting) is interested in the herbs. “How much for a kit of various herbs, sufficient to make a variety of remedies should the need arise?” he asks the herbalist. he also assesses the quality of the robes for sale by the weaver- anything special or unusual about them?
(he will continue on to explore the apothecary afterwards)
Eliza offers a general mix of medicinal herbs, the like of which would replenish a medical tool kit, for 1gp.
Use of these however requires either Alchemical Crafting, Natural Medicine/herbalism, or Medicine training. Provided that a character has the requisite training, the herbs would either assist in Treating Wounds or Diseases, or in concocting several elixers, tinctures or poultices.
As for the proffered robes and scarves, they are all finely crafted. Several are akin to Fine Clothing
Though a little irritated by all appearances at first, Narrakas stop short of brandishing his club at the offered capes, considering them for a moment. But after glancing over to Foppington, and seeing a similar adornment on the man, he'd snort and say, "Fancy another? That's one red!"He chuckles and grins and soon after waves a hand dismissively at the man, before once again propping himself on the greatclub in as relaxed a position possible, waiting for either the others to finish or the Lady to give him the orders to start ushering the old woman away. Though if at any point it looks as if she might start shoving clothing right in Lady Othmor's face, THAT'S when he'll let out a bear-like growl and give her a warning look.
