“Well he is obviously withholding crucial information and trying to deceive us. He won’t tell us how to shut that thing down. I’m with Peren, we should just end him before he has an opportunity to end us and figure out how to destroy the orbs and giant skull and take it from there. Any other ideas?”
Peren says to the group “If we take out the Goliath, we can then figure out what to do next, I don’t think we should leave him or let him out of our site. And as far as the suits of armor, I think they are more of an annoyance than a threat”
((I could cast sleep on him, then we could tie him up, but if he can cast spells he may still be dangerous))
Kathra instinctively doesn't trust anyone with fleas bursting out of his flesh, kind of as a general rule. Plus, she's more into the idea of killing the goliath than killing any of the storm seals, because those are significantly cuter.
You notice that the large metal ring that Korm is holding seems like an overlarge and rough approximation of the collars you have seen on the animated armors. It's not an exact match, and not nearly so elegantly crafted.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
There's a lot about the mysticism of this place that you are unsure of, but of two things you are certain. First, you have no idea how to begin dismantling the Seree "spell engine" and would likely need some serious time and research to even begin to understand it fully. Second, if this "Korm the Adept" has been here long enough to actually unlock even some its secrets, and has knowledge of how to draw energy from the stone, then he is an extremely dangerous, if somewhat unstable foe and should be approached with some serious caution. ((Imagine a scenario where a frontal assault might be met with an unlimited spell-slot fireball to the face.)) At least, that the worst-case level of problems if Korm has done as much research as you think he might have.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
"Uh, lads..." Mirabel coughs to get the party's attention. "We may want to reconsider attacking anyone who can use the power of that stone, even a little bit," and he explains the kind of damage that Korm could dish out to the group.
"I hate to say it, but seal hunting may be our only option."
Gavin gives Mirabel a nod of understanding. He walks back over to Korm and asks “If we agree to take care of the storm seals we would need to see what you intend on paying us for this dangerous mission. I don’t think we are comfortable with a promise of mining sapphires on a long shut down mine from someone we just met. I hope you understand that.”
"Of course, of course." Korm says with a toothy grin. "I'm just glad you boys are willing to work for it instead ah, gutting me and stealing everything." Moving around the room, he makes his way to a small alcove under the central table. Reaching down, he pulls up a small coffer, sets it on the table and opens the lid. Inside you see a mix of gold and silver coins as well as a few sapphire gem fragments. All in all, probably fifty gold in coinage plus whatever the gems could be worth. "And of course, like I said, I'd be glad to have the vault servants work the mines for some more gems while you're out exterminating those pests."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“I am sorry friend but that right there plus a promise of some more sapphires is not enough for us to go risking our lives. We are going to need you to sweeten the deal before we consider agreeing. As you said yourself those big storm seals are dangerous. What else might you have to bargain with?” I turn to my friends and give them a look so they know to go along.
Korm scratches another boil until it bursts, releasing a few more dire fleas. "Hmmmm. You sure drive a hard bargain. I reckon that I could sweeten the deal with a bit of the spell engine itself, yes?" Reaching into another alcove he pulls out a small sack that lands with a heavy thunk on the table. Inside you see three of for black stones shaped in vaguely familiar concentric cubes. They glow slightly with arcane power. "Not much when compared to the power of a true spell engine, but each has more than enough power to juice any arcanist for a lifetime."
((You vaguely recognize the stones because you found one in the river previously and now Mirabel holds it. Also you're sure you've seen some of the more 'in charge' dwarves in Rockmount wearing amulets that feature these sorts of stones as well.))
Korm goes into a somewhat long-winded lecture that basically lays out the attunement rules for magical items, ending it all with a slightly jovial "But I bet your dragon-friend over there already knew all that, right?"
I walk our party to where we can have a private conversation. “Well, what do you all think? Take those things out after a nights rest? Plan next steps in private? Mirabel is it worth using those stones to help us with the storm seals? Seems kind of dangerous as I don’t know the side effects.”
Kathra keeps her voice low and sounds fairly frustrated by Mirabel's revelation that Korm could potentially be a bit stronger than he looked. "Well, if we can't kill our friend over there, it's best to play along for now. Maybe we'll figure out a way to shut this thing down and then kill him after that." She pauses for a moment before adding, "I definitely want to kill him, though."

Peren is leaning towards changing his mind about the storm seals, if we can disable this spell engine the seals will leave on their own.
but if they attack or show aggression, he will not hesitate to blast them with a fire bolt

“That sounds like that may be enough,” says Gavin as he inspects the stones. “How exactly do the stones work?”
Korm goes into a somewhat long-winded lecture that basically lays out the attunement rules for magical items, ending it all with a slightly jovial "But I bet your dragon-friend over there already knew all that, right?"

Gavin slowly nods at Kathra, “I could not agree more with that statement”
((So, having had a while to confer among yourselves, do you have a plan?))
