It'll take a bit, so try not to die before I can finish, yeah?"The cleric takes a seat on the ground in a cross-legged position and begins to chant an incantation.
Prayer of Healing (3rd level): Everybody, including Dral, heals for 16 after 10 minutes

“Thank you for that. If you’re willing to count trolls as giants, and I’ll take no offense if you aren’t, that’s twice since I’ve met your employers that I’ve had giants chuck Flint,” Essendrum gestures at the Dwarf, “at me. The first time it wasn’t followed up so viciously.”
The wizard stands up much more firmly now and begins muttering his own incantations while beating at his robes with his staff. Where he strikes, bloodstains fall away in puffs of red dust. Looking somewhat better, he looks out into the darkness.
”There’s a spellbook out there somewhere that I wanted, but perhaps we’d best declare victory and go home. What do you all think?”

Spike:
Taking deep breaths, Spike says, "Ah, so we found him? Alive? Excellent. Yes some healing would be much appreciated."
"Yes, Essendrum, I have been used far too much lately as a siege weapon. As far as returning--sure, that's not a bad idea--but we should see what Dral needs. I'm sure he was down here for a reason," replies the dwarf, slowly poking around the open rooms and bodies of the defeated foes for anything useful.

"Yes, Essendrum, I have been used far too much lately as a siege weapon. As far as returning--sure, that's not a bad idea--but we should see what Dral needs. I'm sure he was down here for a reason,"
Enoch thought for a moment. "Well, asking him what he was needing can't hurt. Dral? Are you good now? How about it... what were you looking for down here?"
Kiana is shrouded in a bright golden light as she casts her spell. Everyone that has been injured, including Dral, is shrouded in the same light and each of you feels better than you did a few moments ago. As the party watches Dral struggles to his feet with a grunt. He is unsteady at first but appears to get stronger as the moments pass. "I assume you folks are the rescue party." he says weakly as he staggers over the pile of clothing and items lying along the east wall. After a few moments, he dresses himself and puts gear in their proper place. "We are not gonna spend time hiking out of this hell hole!" he says firmly. "Kiana place yer hand on my shoulder!" he commands. "And tha rest follow suit." After each of you figure out what he wants to do he pulls out a scroll and unrolls it. "Klaxdal, Benall, Shodan." He says. "Take us to the Inn." Arcane energy swirls around him and you as the scroll bursts and is consumed by a blue flame. There is a bright flash of light and you feel the world shift from under you. Abruptly each of you drop to your knees as you slam into a ale-stained wooden floor. You blink several times to make the blue dots go away and once your vision comes back, you find yourselves in the main hall of the Inn. "It took you long enough!" you hear from behind you. You turn to see the elven woman walking towards you. "Welcome Back!" A cheer goes up all around you as several people race forward to help you to your feet.
DM: Welcome to Level 6 everyone! Post anything you wish to say or do and let me know if there is anything else you need to sort out on the private thread. I will post once it's all sorted out.
Enoch slowly rose to his feet, and gave a weak smile and wave at the cheering around him. He tried his best to hide his relief--he had been willing to fight to the death to get Dral out of that place, of course, but with his weakened state, and his energies waning, he hadn't gauged their odds of survival to be the best. Thankfully, their target had the means of escape!
Turning to Dral, the paladin stuck out a hand. "Good to meet you sir, I'm glad we were able to free you! I've got a bit of magic left if you still have any ailments?"
Kiza takes a moment as she sighs with relief to be back in the Inn. "Those catacombs were a death trap and if you should seal that place up somehow as they are monsters down there."
The staff hustles Dral away before he can say anything to the party. Each of you is tended to and given accommodations in the manner of a large open room with 5 beds, Kiana is advised to rest with this group, with a large trunk at the foot of each of them. You are healed by a couple of local clerics and directed to one of the many baths the inn provides for patrons. The first night, the bed never felt so good and the sleep was deep and lasted till mid-morning of the next day. This rest ends up lasting 3 days and you spend them eating, resting, and with small talk among yourselves and the employees of the Inn. When talk turns to payment for your services, which starts to frustrate everyone most notably Essendrum, you are told that once Dral has sorted a few things out you can discuss it with him. It's the morning of the 4th day, there is a pounding on your room door. One of the staff enters and says. "Dral is ready for you now." You are given time to dress and eat, if you like, and then are led up the winding staircase to a short hallway with a lone door. As you approach it opens on its own. "Come on in." comes the voice of Dral from the open door. You walk into a large open room with a desk, several chairs before it and a much larger chair behind it. Behind the large chair, you find a fireplace with a crackling fire inside. Like the previous experience, this room has several bookshelves lining the wall and several trophies and heads of beasts mounted here and there on the walls. Standing between the desk and chair behind it stands Dral. He is wearing a green tunic, and brown leather leggings and sports a thick leather belt. A pair of spectacles rest on his nose and he appears to be reading something. He turns his attention from the parchment to you as you enter. "I trust your stay has been pleasant and your needs have been taken care of." he states more than asking. "I wanted to extend my thanks for your timely save of myself and Kiana from the clutches of those Trogs and their masters," he says. "But I have been told you were recruited for that because you had been sent to talk to me about something, what would that be?" he asks.
Having rested, relaxed, and recovered, Flint is actually healed and clean, and his armor and weapons are in tip-top shape. At Dral's question, Flint answers, "Well, there was the giant attack at Triboar, and we were trying to find that giant slaying weapon--an axe, was it?"
Enoch, feeling stronger and more well-rested than he had been in a while, nodded at Spike's statement. "We were there when it happened--they were caught completely by surprise, and even the Harpers hadn't been able to respond." The young man was somewhat embarrassed that had heard only a bit about their organization, and wasn't quite sure what their involvement was supposed entail--but he still felt it prudent to mention, considering Dara had thought it important.
Essendrum does not sit in front of the desk. Instead he walks over to the bookshelves, takes out the most interesting book, and begins to leaf through it. He looks up when Enoch speaks and raises an eyebrow.
”Even? Hm.”
He puts back the book and takes another, seemingly paying little attention to the discussion.
Kiza now fully rested and well-fed shares what she saw in Triboar and describes the giants, though she too is drawn to the books, but she restrains herself from doing so.
"Please, sit." he says and motions to the chairs in front of the desk. Dral takes a seat in the larger chair and is quiet for a moment, thinking it would seem. "Giants attacked Triboar you say." he says a bit absentmindedly. He quickly looks up. "Were any other communities in the area attacked? What kind of Giants were they? Was Darathra hurt?" His questions come in quick succession.
Essendrum glances up from his book. “The giants sought a stone which I believe they intend for some evil purpose. We prevented them from taking it. Your lady was well when we left her, but like you she is imperious and foolhardy and chose to keep the stone rather than entrust it to me. As a result we cannot study it here in ‘security.’ They may well have returned by now and taken it from her. It is unfortunate you put us off for three days.”
Eventually Essedrum puts back the book and sighs, looking at the nearby shelves. “These books are interesting, but it is spells I need. Since your library is mine for a week I suppose I could find them eventually, but do you think you might save me the time and point them out? I would very much like to round out my spell book a bit. Irrespective of Harper muddling about, the giants have more planned for us and I’m afraid my charges here will need all the magical support they can get soon.”
Enoch sat, and listened to the wiser, older folk discuss the situation. "The giant we fought was a fire giant. We didn't hear of any other communities being attacked before we left, but Lady Darathra was sure the giants were still around. And no, My Lady was not hurt," he said, trying to be helpful.
Dral shakes his head, seemingly a bit relieved from the news. "A stone ..." Dral's voice trails off and he pauses for a moment, thinking. He looks down as he thinks for a moment, placing his hand on his chin. It takes a moment but with a sigh, he looks back up. "Well, I'll have to check this out but," he pauses. "Did she give you any instructions? Besides conscripting you into the Triboar Watch, obviously."
Perturbed at Dral ignoring him and determined to do the same, Essendrum continues examining the contents of the bookshelf. He uses Mage Hand to access hard to reach books and to hold one book while he cross-references another, setting aside a pile of books he’s most interested in. When he casts Mage Hand, he pronounces the verbal components quite clearly and distinctly.
The 1st book Essendrum attempts to retrieve is unusually heavy, a bit too heavy for his Mage Hand to move. On a 2nd attempt, he is able to pull a much lighter book, a thin green book with gold lettering down to him. Triumphantly, Essendrum pulls the book him. The satisfying smile fades slightly as Essendrum reads the title. "1000 ways to prepare Potatoes" Dralwaits for answers to his questions.
