With the woman now unconscious and Cuervo healed, combat has ended. You notice a few people looking into the hall from the doorway, but none so far have entered.
Kalhala - Taru's eyelids flutter and he groans weakly, but he does not come to consciousness. He seems to be stabilized for now, though without magical healing you're not sure exactly when he might awaken.
Kalhala looks at Taru in alarm, not sure what is happening and if he is going to be alright. "Hey guys?" he shouts to the others while still looking at Taru, "Can anyone help this man out? Please?"
Lash - You see no other potential threats in the area. Stepping over to where the glass case where the reliquary for the Emberheart Amulet sits, you find the lock to have been picked and the door of the case left open. Racking your brain about what you saw before the fight broke out, you're fairly confident you saw the woman waving her device around inside the case but as for what purpose, you do not know.
"Sorry," Lash says absently after having glanced over to Kalhala and Taru. "I don't have that kind of magics..."
"Hey! What we you doing over here?" Lash calls over to the unconscious (just, yes? We didn't kill?) robed woman. Seeing that is pointless he asks "What happened to that device she had? I think she was waving it around here... Where the amulet used to be." Lash also makes it a point to go search the woman to find everything she has on her since he had no idea what may be a clue or not.
"Why would she be breaking in to where the amulet USED to be?"

Pleased to be back in the land of the living, Cuervo initially checks on Taru, but sees that Jowyn has this in hand. Then, listening to Lash, she heads over to the glass case and ponders Lash's question, seeing what she might be able to recall about spells, magic items and magical traditions, that might provide an explanation.
Kalhala breathes a sigh of relief now that Taru is doing a bit better. He rests a hand on his shoulder "Stay with us, ok?"
Hearing Lash, Kalhala remembers the thing he pulled out of the woman's grasp. He looks at it now, but doesn't know what to make of it. He raises it up for anyone to take, "Is this what you're looking for? Maybe its a detector of sorts? Like she was using it to find something invisible in the glass case?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Lash - You find a small coin purse on the woman containing 9SP and 24CP but nothing else of note.
Jowyn - Taru gasps and blinks a few times before attempting to sit upright. He hisses in pain and lays back down on the ground, "Wh-what happened?" After hearing what transpired he then says, "This is madness, nothing like this has ever happened here before..." He winces and tries to sit up again, this time managing to do so. "Where is security? We must lock down the museum. This could've been a distraction of some sort."
Cuervo - Upon hearing Lash's explanation and the manner in which the woman used the device, you recall your experience with a similar type of wand that was used on you at a security checkpoint in Baldur's Gate. That particular wand detected hidden weapons and enchantments, but you can't say for sure what this wand is designed to detect, or if that is in fact its function. You think someone with an expertise in magical items should be able to determine that for you.
You see a crowd has gathered at the entrance to the hall and hear a shout, "Taru! Gods, what is going on here!?" A middle aged human woman is hurrying down the hall toward you as Taru turns and says, "Finla, I was attacked..." He points to the bound, unconscious woman, "These people saved me." Finla looks to each of you, "Thank you for your help! But what is going on? Why did she attack Taru? How could this happen?" You all hear an authoritative voice raised above the rest, "Stand back please, this area is closed." It appears a security officer has arrived and is trying to control the crowd. Another arrives shortly after the first and jogs down the hall toward you, a young human man with shoulder length blonde hair. You see him speaking into something in his hand as he nears, "We're in the process of cordoning off the area, I'm going to secure the exhibition hall. Has anyone heard from Keghammer?" The young man eyes you all with suspicion as he approaches and kneels by Taru. After a quick briefing he stands and goes around the room checking for other threats before speaking into whatever small object he holds, "Exhibition hall is secured. We have an injured staff member, can someone call for a Cleric? We've gotta lock down the museum." There are a few seconds of silence, then the man scoffs and says, "Well Keghammer's not here to give his authorization and we have a situation! I'm telling you to lock it down and if Keghammer has a problem with it he can take if up with me." His hand drops away from his face and you hear him mumble, "...once he's dragged himself out of whatever bottle he's fallen into..."
Kalhala is happy to see Taru back up and talking again, but when the man mentions that it could have been a distraction, he jumps to his feet. Handing off the wand to Cuervo, he asks, "What can I do?"
After more arrive, the minotaur walks over to the one talking into a small object, assuming he is in charge and asks, "Is there anywhere else items that were related to the amulet were stored?" Kalhala is wracking his small brain trying to figure out if this was a distraction, what else could be going on.
Coins secured into his own pouch for future examination of how they may have played a role in all this, Lash turns around and watches as the chaos starts erupting around him. Well, chaos of a different sort.
"Keghammer!" Lash shouts out, finding this to be the most interesting addition to the puzzle so far. "Where does he do his drinking? Home? A local? Some hidden closet here at the museum? Things are happening here that shouldn't be able to happen here... a drunken security master could be the answer as to how, if not why."
Cuervo takes the wand and discretely puts it into a pocket. She may not be the best person to ascertain its true purpose, but given the museum's ineptitude plus willingness to hush things up, she does not want them taking it from the group. So, if they don't know about it, they can't take it.
Once sure it is safely stowed away, she goes and stands by Lash, nodding vigorously to support his words.
Kalhala/All - The young man looks over to you and says, "I appreciate your concern, but-" He stops abruptly as if hearing something, then curses and speaks into his stone, "I'll send someone to assist. Loic, can you head over to the entrance and help with crowd control?" A moment passes and the man curses again, "Alright, I'll... I'll..." He stops speaking into his stone and begins cursing under his breath, visibly exasperated with the situation. Taru speaks up from the floor, "Sten, these people saved my life and put a stop to whatever that woman was doing. I can see that you're a bit stretched thin..." He winces and groans a bit before continuing, "What I'm saying is I believe you can trust them to help out if need be. I am willing to vouch for them." Sten looks to Taru then to you and the rest, mind obviously working over some dilemma. Finally he says, "I need someone to go help with crowd control at the entrance and I need someone to find Keghammer."
To any who head to the entrance for crowd control - When you leave the exhibition hall you can see a large crowd gathered in the lobby below. There appears to be only a couple of security personnel attempting to hold back the tide of guests trying to exit the museum of antiquities. As you near, you hear the security officers shouting to be heard above the angry mob, "Please form an orderly queue!" Someone shouts back, "I'll form my foot up yer arse if ye don't let us out!" The security officer, a young dwarven woman says, "That doesn't even... Look, we're trying to process everyone as quickly as we can. It would help with processing if everyone remained calm and cooperative." The instigator, a male fire genasi begins booing and chanting, "Let us out! LET US OUT!"
To any who head to find Keghammer - Sten tells you to head back to the employee only corridor and look for the door labeled security office. You find it easily enough and inside you see a small break room with a table and chairs, a collection of cubbies on the back wall with personal effects, and old employee information posters on the walls. An unfinished card game lies on the table and you see there is a door across from you that is labeled, HEAD OF SECURITY. The room looks dark beyond the frosted glass window as if no one is inside.
Cuervo lays unconscious…
Jowyn rushes over to Cuervo and casts cure wounds for 7 HP.
With the woman now unconscious and Cuervo healed, combat has ended. You notice a few people looking into the hall from the doorway, but none so far have entered.
Kalhala runs over to Taru and gently starts shaking the poor man, trying to wake him up. "Taru? Are you ok?"
Kalhala - Taru's eyelids flutter and he groans weakly, but he does not come to consciousness. He seems to be stabilized for now, though without magical healing you're not sure exactly when he might awaken.

"Why would she be breaking in to where the amulet USED to be?"
Jowyn kneels next to Taru and touches their forehead with a silent prayer, casting 'Healing Hands' to restore 1 HP.
"Come on, new friend; there's work to be done."
