"He speaks." She says as she giggles again, the faint echo can be heard throughout the room. Rose looks towards Lando and continues," That wasn't us that met you outside. We've been dead for a long time. How can we go outside?" she says with a puzzled look on her face. "Are you talking about the monster in the basement? Our parents locked us in this room to protect us from the monster in the basement. We stayed here for days hiding under the bed and crying. Just trying not to make any loud noises so the monster wouldn't get us."

Thorn looks over at his doll in his skeletal hand and frowns. 

"Our parents said they would come back for us. We waited and got hungry. We got very thirsty too. It was very painful. We banged on the door after a bunch of days but no one came for us." Rose walks over to the dollhouse and points to the stairs that lead down from the secret door on this floor. "That's how you get to the basement." She says.

"Mommy didn't like our brother. She said he was a no good bastard child from our father and the nursemaid. Maybe that's why the nursemaid disappeared and came back looking all scary like." Thorn says before he sits down next to his skeleton and looks at his doll with longing.

 

The combination of Artus's concern and the children's quasi normal conversation seems to shake Reggie from his stupor. "How do we get to the stairs?" he asks a little distractedly.

Rose looks at Reggie and then goes and points to the stairs in the dollhouse. "I said you go through there. In the storage room. The hidden door leads to the stairs. But be careful of the monster. I think he ate mommy and daddy. That's probably why they didn't feed us and we died from our bellies hurting"

Thorn looks at his doll and says "I think that's why mommy killed Walter. He was a bastard she kept saying as she stabbed him a bunch of times. She told me it was our secret." 

Thorn looks at Lando, "What's a bastard?"

Lando appears to be caught off guard for a moment, but then regains his composer. 

“Ah well, I’m this particular situation I believe your mother may have been suggestion that your little baby brother was not conceived by your birth mother, but by a different woman entirely. Certainly a scenario to cause angst and grief towards the product of said relationship”

Reggie gingerly moves to where he can see the inside of the doll house, judges where the storage room is in relation to where they are now, and then moves out of the room and to the door to the northwest and listens at the door. If he doesn't hear anything, he will open the door and look inside.

 Rose giggles. "Are you saying Walter is a product like a head of lettuce from the market?" She turns towards her brother. "These people are funny. I like them. But they did touch our toys without asking. That was rude." 

Thorn nods but doesn't say anything he keeps staring at his doll after a moment he looks at Lando again. "What is conceived?" 

Reggie heads to the South-west door and listens before opening it. 

This dusty chamber is packed with old furniture (chairs, coat racks, standing mirrors, dress mannequins, and the like), all draped in dusty white sheets. Near an iron stove, sticking out from underneath one of the sheets is a wooden trunk.

There is a door opened up on the northern wall the leads to a very small spiral staircase. It looks like it could fit one person at a time and it would be a tight fit at that. The stairs are very dark. 

Reggie will prod the trunk with one of his swords. If nothing happens, he'll uncover it and look it over to see if it looks dangerous from the outside. If he sees nothing, he'll see if it's locked. Remembering the trunk downstairs, he's not going to just open the trunk. He'll fetch Lando to check for traps.

Artus looks at this spirits. "Something we need to know is where we are? Can you tell us that?  We were traveling, then all of a sudden appeared in these strange woods?"

Rose looks at Artus and giggles again. "A talking cow. I wish Jenny could see this. She would get a kick out of it." She scratches her head (but you are sure ghosts don't actually itch) before answering. "You're in Barovia silly. Where else would you be?" 

Thorn looks at Lando a bit sad. "Daddy was nice to me and Rose. He wasn't a jerk." Thorn sticks his tongue out at Lando and gets up and runs behind his sister. "That man is a jerk." 

Rose looks over at Lando and scowls.

Reggie pops his head around the corner to the room where everyone else is. "Lando, I need you in the next room."

Reggie steps into the doorway, a look of concern on his face.

 Lando rolls his eyes. "Wake up and smell the dead roses kids. YOU PARENTS LOCKED YOU UP HERE AND FORGOT ABOUT YOU!"

After he calms down a moment, "Look do you want our help or not? We haven't all day ya know"

Andrei looks sharply over at Rose.

"What do you mean?" he asks.

Rose looks to Andrei for the first time. "The house is mean. It won't let you leave once you are inside it. It will stop you. I don't know how but I know it will."

Rose watches Lando about to leave and frowns. "Don't leave us. You've been really nice to us." Rose flies towards Lando and disappears into his body possessing him. 

Thorns claps when he sees Rose enter Lando's body. "take that Jerk!"
