"Well, Piero lives on my floor, and I certainly got the impression they were a couple. He is quite reclusive though so I know next to nothing about him, I would be impressed if you managed to find out who he really is?" The purple-skinned tiefling says, hoping Grayson would be able to find out more than he and his floories had done. "Do you know where one could find out more about Lady Castrillón?" He asks with a polite smile.
Grayson seems to ponder Malvyn'squestion for a moment. "Well, I am intrigued about the whole bodyguard situation. I certainly can make inquiries. I will let you know Malvyn. This could make quite an interesting story." Starting to turn away, he then pauses. "Oh, and you asked about finding out more about Lady Castrillón. I am not even sure of the plane of her origin right now. I wrote a small piece about her at the beginning of the year, but there was little to tell. It seems she is a singer of some sort and part of Prismari. But as I said, she keeps to herself and seems to have a tight knit group of friends. Maybe you could find some reference in the Biblioplex? Maybe the last name would help?"
Mae's natural glow dimmed a little and she got quiet. "Back home, I was...highly sought after. Both for my talent and...me." A tear began to form in her eye and she began rubbing her leg as if trying to self soothe herself. "I-I was...taken advantage of...in many ways. If I had a bodyguard, I might...have been...safe...maybe." Her eyes overflowed with watery tears and she pulled her legs up against her chest. "That's why I'm here," she whispered through soft sobs, "they were threatening me and my family because I refused deals and..."Mae couldn't go on as she buried her head in her knees and cried.

Larine's eyes go wide as she listens to Maeand sees her glow dim. "Oh my goodness," she says in almost a whisper. "I had no idea. That's just..." There are almost tears in her eyes in sympathy for her friend. "I'm even more glad that you're here then. Because I was already really glad you were here because I got meet you. But you have been safe here, right? And your family...?" Even as she says the word 'family' she wonders whether Mae being at Strixhaven really would do anything to free her family from these threats.
As Maeretreats into herself and is softly sobbing, Larine is at a bit of a loss. There's a long moment before she moves over, sitting right beside the aasimar and gives her the gentlest of bumps with her arm against her side. There's another long moment of quiet before she takes a deep breath and says, "I'd be your bodyguard if you ever needed one." The green-haired girl goes quiet for a long moment again. Her voice is a hoarse whisper when she finally speaks again. "I can be strong when I need to."

Mei: The first impression coming to you revolves around the emptiness. The emptiness of that clearing, the spot where you gathered with others in Silkmeadow. The people are not there. You are not sure whether this is truly a representation of physical reality or symbolic of a disconnection. But it is a symbol that in some way the people are missing from this place where Disyn is.
Next is the brightness which faded to a blur. There is a wrongness to this. You get the feeling that something is wrong with Disyn.
You come back to the beginning of your vision. The combination of being both bright and shadowed is more of how you remember this entity. It was odd - it is odd. But it was her nature - both light and dark together. Disyn turned to you - you realize that she is looking for you.
The symbolism of her trying to approach and her being unable to you is harder to decipher. It could be taken that something has happened that is impeding the connection you had with her. Or it could be simply a reflection that with time and distance the connection has become unsustainable. You are not sure which.
There is one final realization - YOU are the one that dreamed this. For a time after your encounter with her, you stayed alert, well-rested, and had no dreams. No dreams at all, but most especially none that drew upon your power. But this feels familiar and speaks to familiar ties and ways you have known. It was you that caused this dreaming - it was no vision from Disyn.
Guardok inquires whether Piero enjoyed the performance when he returns, but it is a short conversation from both ends most likely.
When Mal shares his encounter with Piero at the tavern, Guardok will be a little interested, but also a little reserved knowing how private Piero is. At least it gave an insight into why he was so cagey about things. If Mal mentions he is investigating it with the Star he will suggest that that sounds like an invasion of privacy, and he can't imagine that it will go down well with Piero.
With regards study, Guardok will happily study with anyone who is putting the time in, especially those smarter than he is. Which is likely everyone.
(OOC: Not sure how much Mal shared with the others about his plans to investigate Piero and his girlfriend with Grayson / his request Grayson look into her?)

"Yes, I'll see what I can find in the Biblioplex, thanks for now Grayson." Malvyn says and proceeds to the campus library to see what the name of Castrillón might give.

It was several long moments before Mae collected herself enough to wipe her eyes and face a little and speak again. "I don't know. I don't know if they're okay. I don't think anyone blamed my parents, but...oh no...oh no what if...I...."The tears welled up again and Mae slumped against Larine a bit as she cried again. "It's all my fault, it's all my fault..." Mae whimpered between a few more sobs. When she managed to regain control again she rested her head on her knees and looked at Larine, eyes puffy and red. "Th-thank you. I'm g-glad I m-met you too." There was the faintest smile for a moment. "I have no doubt you can be strong. Maybe one day I will be too."
Pierodoes indeed keep the conversation brief with Guardok. "The Show Band did quite a nice job. It was an enjoyable performance."
Malvyn'strip to the Biblioplex indeed does not reveal much. There was a mention of a wizard with the last name of Castrillón that attended Strixhaven long ago. But that took up almost all of your time and you get nothing more about it.
Considering it was not a particularly vital lead to begin with, the purple-skinned tiefling shelves that particular avenue of inquiries and returns to his normal routines, reading diligently about owlbears, half-expecting one to come rampaging through the Bilioplex as the next campus incident waiting to happen.
"It's not your fault," Larine insists softly. "It's those other horrible people!" She simply sits with Maeas she is sobbing then trying to recover. When she looks over at her, Larine herself almost starts to cry again herself, but she smiles when she says she's glad she met her. "You definitely can be strong Mae. I could maybe help you if you like."
Once Maeseems a bit calmer, Larine gives a brief apology. "I hope you didn't mind me asking. I'm glad you shared that. But I'm sorry if it brought up all those bad feelings." She then tries to shift the subject even further. "Perhaps we can get together for a big study session this weekend. And then right before the test? I could use all the help I can get probably. There is so much in all those classes to learn!"

"Just don't ask me to sign up for the weight lifting group," Mae smiled softly. She took a few breaths and got a bit closer to Larine. "No, I don't mind you asking. It's still hard sometimes, but I don't mind." She rubbed her shoulder against against Larine's shoulder a little. "Sure, a study session sounds good, both times. There is quite a bit. I think I heard something about owlbears? Maybe I was dreaming about them." She smiled a little more and shrugged.
"Weight lifting group?" Larine says, confused. "Uh, ok, I won't do that." She smiles as Maeshifts closer, watching her. "Yea, the exam is going to be about bugbears. You aren't starting have dreams... like Mei does, are you?"
Mei looks upon the tarot cards laid out on the floor. It'd been second nature to reach for them to help to interpret the Dream. Her Dream.
Nine of Swords. Reversed Moon. Reverse Ace of Cups. Tower.
Short of traveling back to that same clearing in Silkmeadow, the oracle isn't sure what more she can do. She thinks of the snarl Disyn had reached out to. Could she, too, try to channel the Strixhaven snarl to connect with her? To learn what was wrong?
That feeling of emptiness from the Dream lingers throughout the week, though Mei tries very hard to focus on her studies, which is even more difficult as she returned to her normal narcoleptic self. One night, perhaps, she'd go visit the snarl to test her theory.
"Weight lifting group?" Larine says, confused. "Uh, ok, I won't do that." She smiles as Maeshifts closer, watching her. "Yea, the exam is going to be about bugbears. You aren't starting have dreams... like Mei does, are you?"
Mae looked equally confused for a moment then shrugs. "Like Mei? Mmm...I don't think so? My dreams are normal, I guess? Although there lately has been a song I can't remember. But in the dream I can hear it in the background somewhere." She got a thoughtful look for a second then shrugged again and pushed against Larine a little. "Well, bugbears will have to wait, I think I'm rather exhausted now. See you soon though, yes?"
The week passes quickly with less activities and more studying going on. Meiseems to have slid back to her occasional naps during class. The weekend arrives, with a bit more time for studying. Or perhaps to try to do other activities. Aurora was still keeping on performing at the Bow's End. Though she does have a free evening Thursday to be able to make final exam preparations with Malvyn. Larine too had made plans to meet with Maeon Thursday - provided she's still willing to study with her. Cadoras had asked Meiif she would be interested in studying with him on Thursday.
During the weekend, Rubina and Quentillius stopped by to see if Guardok wanted to study. And to make plans with them to study Thursday right before the exam. Seeing Mei there, Quentillius makes a point of inviting her as well.
When Thursday arrives, Professor Lang spends the class time reviewing Owlbears. "These creatures most often live in caves or ruins. The bones of their prey serve as their beds and playgrounds," she explains. "As you all should be aware, they are aggressive and often ill-tempered carnivores. They will even attack without provocation, using their razor-sharp beaks and claws." She paces a bit as she speaks to the students. "An owlbear’s screech sounds vaguely similar to the cry of an enormous owl with terrible indigestion. Owls don’t suffer from indigestion, though, making this a sure sign that an owlbear is nearby."
"Now, where do owlbears come from?" the Professor continues. "Anyone?" A small gnome girl quickly replies. "I think they come from the Feywild. Many elves say they have always lived there." A human boy then speaks up. "No, they come from some breeding experiment gone awry. Scholars believe some wizard must have been involved in some strange research." Professor Lang nods. "In this case, we are not certain of the true origin of owlbears. Both theories may be correct."
"Now, we also know that there are certain foods that seem to quell an owlbear's foul temper. Namely cupcakes and muffins," the teacher continues. "They are not naturally drawn to these really, but arcano-biologists think they may quell the creatures' rumbling acid reflux."
She takes a brief breath before going on. "And finally, there are some who would try to train owlbears. These creatures seem to respond best to training the mimics exactly what their trainer wishes them to do. Crawling on one’s hands and knees is often the best way to teach an owlbear to be a mount, for example."
"There you have it students. Those are the basics. Our Exam is tomorrow, so be sure to brush up on all your notes. The class is dismissed." Professor Lang then turns back to her desk, taking a seat as most of the students start to file out.
