Jurgen finds many curious odds and ends in this damaged workshop that could be used to repair Draco or build new contraptions.
There is old, lukewarm Transmutation magic emanating from the brazier of green flames, Jurgen also learns, once his ritual takes effect. In the jumble of other items in this workshop, he also spots both a mace and a breastplate on the worktable in the southeast corner of the room that glow with a magical signature.
Ruven approaches the forge reverently, ignoring the others. So many years...I actually found it! He begins taking detailed sketches, examining the thing from top to bottom, side to side.
Outside of the odds and ends that would only interest a tinkerer, together with the mace and breastplate, and the small, pristine brazier in which the eerie green flames dance and crackle, there seems to be little else of interest in the room besides a lot of debris from an ancient, destructive battle here. Ruven carefully sketches the brazier – clearly the heart of this workshop operation – but learns nothing new about its history or operation.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Bryony glances at the brazier with the green flames, but, not knowing all that much about magic, she shrugs and joins Jurgen at the door. She presses her ear to the door, seeing if she can hear anything on the other side.
Bryony hears nothing at the door, at least until the next booming wave passes through. Then all is quiet again.
Jurgen will pick up the odds and ends for later goes to the armor and mace and examines it. "Would someone want either of these?"
(Who wants the mace or the breastplate? The breastplate consists of a fitted metal chest piece worn with supple leather. Although it leaves the legs and arms relatively unprotected, this armor provides good protection for the wearer's vital organs while leaving the wearer relatively unencumbered. It has a gold dragon motif worked into its design. The head of the mace is shaped like a sunburst and is made of solid brass. It has the word "Lightbringer" etched into its handle.)
Quinn peeks back in the room and is amazed that the eye monster is nowhere to be seen. When he walks into the room, Jurgen would notice a magical aura emanating from the cloak that Gundren gave Quinn.
”Where did that eyeball…thing..go?
He slowly makes his rounds inspecting all the curiosities in the room. He looks at the mace.
”This mace reminds me of Kimberly’s moon sickle mace. And that’s some nice armor. Anyone interested in these items?”
Quinn stands there considering taking them for himself if no one wants them.

I prefer blades myself Ruven says absentmindedly, undeterred from his examination of the forge. He racks his brain now, trying to see if he remembers something from his studies that may help in figuring out how it works.
Ruven recalls that the Forge of Spells was a magical forge used by dwarves and gnomes in bygone days to fashion powerful magic items. He recalls that more than five hundred years ago, clans of dwarves and gnomes made an agreement known as the Phandelver Pact, by which they would share this rich mine. But in addition to its mineral wealth, the mine contained great magical power. Human spellcasters allied themselves with dwarves and gnomes to channel and bind that energy into a great forge called the Forge of Spells, where magic items could be crafted. Then, of course, a powerful bandit force reinforced by evil mercenary wizards attacked Wave Echo Cave to seize its riches and magic treasures. Human wizards fought alongside their dwarf and gnome allies to defend the Forge of Spells, and the ensuing spell battle destroyed much of the cavern, which was then lost to time.
What he doesn't recall is how to use this Brazier of Green Flame, which is the functional heart of the Forge, or what, exactly, it does. It once enchanted magical items, he recalls, but he worries that the magic here feels very old – aged – and somewhat depleted.
Meanwhile, Quinn picks up the mace (see DMs) and Bryony the breastplate (see inventory).
The magic of the Brazier of Green Flame has clearly waned over the years, Ruven deduces through his long ritual. And while it once could be harnessed to permanently enchant magic items, it cannot any longer. However, any nonmagical weapon or suit of armor bathed in the green flame for at least 1 minute becomes a +1 weapon or a suit of +1 armor, respectively, for 1d12 hours. And removing the brazier from the Forge of Spells, Ruven fears, would douse the green flame and forever deprive the brazier of its magical power.
Aha! Ruven shouts, now getting a little giddy. Yes, it does still work! He quickly pulls his sword out of its scabbard and places it into the flames, then begins doffing his armor to do the same.

About a minute Ruven says, carefully pulling his items from the flames. And it does not last but a few hours...but it works he says happily. Even after all these years...the fact that even this little bit of magic remains shows how powerful this must have been in its prime. Go on everyone, place your weapons, your armor, in the flames. Just for a minute. Then, perhaps, we can quiet that wraith down.
