Boona was getting frustrated again and squeezed herself forcefully through the doors, once outside she hoisted up the two illest looking townsfolk and set off toward Phandelver....
Fergus pockets the ornate dagger and the emerald – he'll sort out what to do with them soon enough.
Quinn gathers the treasures from the vault, but begins to worry about the time they are taking away from the ailing villagers. He carries the tapestries into the mess hall where the goblins look curiously at them.
Boona manages to pull the doors open far enough for her to squeeze through. She finds the villagers are hurrying away from the obsidian doors, desperately trying to breathe cleaner air and put distance between themselves and this deadly, poisonous outpost without waiting for the rest of the party.
The night is pitch black. Without darkvision, it is impossible to see outside.
Everyone: Make a DC10 CON Save, or take a point of exhaustion.
“Thanks, Quinn,” replies Fergus, “Let’s get these tapestries to the miners and then join the others at camp.” Making his way back to the miners with Quinn, he does what he can to carefully transport the tapestries.
”Jorzu, I may need your help if you still have levitation available—I am getting pretty tired. Do you know if we have a camp set up yet?” he asks on the way.

Quinn exhales a loud sigh of relief the runes down end the crew in a ball of fire. He looks over the treasures found in the secret room and the bed. He hears out Fergus and Quinn likes the sound of his plan.
"Fergus, that sounds quite fair indeed. I appreciate the offering to the ashenwights and their captain and offering some of the coin to the goblins as a gesture of peace. Bryony might like that dagger. She's quite good at sticking things with sharp objects. And there's something about that emerald looks...different. Perhaps Jurgen can tinker with it and figure out if it's more than it seems.
Let's check on the others. I worry about the townsfolk. They aren't looking very well."
Fergus adds, “Oh yes, and let’s figure out what to do with the dagger and gem in the morning.”

Quinn is running on fumes, but he feels a second wind coming on. As he continues arranging the tapestries, he notices the Sawplees watching the party with interest. Quinn rises and speaks to the Sawplees.
"We found these tapestries in Ruxithid's chamber. They were crafted by the Duergar, the proud people who live in depths of this place. We going to offer them to the Duergar and display them in the caves below to honor their history here and hopefully guide their conscience for their future as well." Quinn reaches in his pack and pulls out a sack of copper coins. "And we'd like to offer this to you as well."
Quinn offer the bag of coins to the Sawplee.
"Would you help us take this offering to the Duergar? Like you, they have a connection to this place and this offering will go a long ways towards helping you all live and coexist here."

Jorzu watches as the others gather the ancient treasures. The totality of the days (?) adventure finally catch up with him as a wave of lethargy washes over him. If not for Fergus and Quinns continued effort, he may very well have curled up on the bed and fallen asleep. Fergus' question reinvigorates his spirit somewhat and he stumbles over to help. "Oh, yes. I can levitate whenever I wish so long as the lighting is sufficiently dim. However, I don't know what Boona and the others have done about camp. I would think the air clean enough in the lever room but last I saw Boona was attempting to open the doors with brute force" he shrugs as they carry the tapestries towards their final destination.
The Sawplees seem uncertain about this proposed relationship with the dead duergar, but are both wary of your power and delighted by the old coins. "Coexist...?" mutters one, uncertainly.
Fergus begins to lug the tapestries toward the broken lift shaft, Quinn (and Jorzu?) following along. The goblins also trail behind, curious about your next actions.
Boona loses track of the sick gnomish apothecary in the pitch dark. He can hear the other two stumbling ahead in a desperate attempt to put some distance between them and the outpost. The air is cool, the fumes fading. The black gravel yields to boulders and scrub. Boona bangs her shin on a rock in the dark. The night is very quiet.
Boona grunted and drew on the earth to create a small cloud of embers above her head so at least the others could see where she was and used similar magics to light her lamp....a deeper thinker might have called out and turned back........but that was not really her balliwick...
Jorzu follows Fergus and Quinn back down the lift shaft, again tracing their steps through the maintenance and storage chamber, past the broken mine carts, the blackened shell of the fiendish auger, and the foul-smelling hole, and out onto the cliff strip mine at the edge of the blue lava sea. Here they present the tapestries to the freed duergar spirit, Hjoldak Hollowhelm, and his former charges, now undead-but-partially-psionically-awakened ashenwights. Hjoldak gives you a nod of sad acknowledgment, while the ashenwights look on with great curiousity. "You found the vault. Good," says Hjoldak. "You earned its contents. I thank you again for my freedom."
Boona, out in the pitch-black wasteland outside, repeatedly beckons a thin cloud of hot-but-harmless red embers over her head. It doesn't help her see much beyond the black sand at her feet, but hopefully the drifting sparks will serve as a beacon for the others, whom she cannot see.
Her oil lamp soon lit by the summoned arcane embers, Boona can now see clearly in a 15-foot radius and dimly for an additional 30 feet. She sees ash-black gravel, dry sparse shrubbery, a scattering of loose rocks and boulders, and the backs of two of the struggling villagers, one on her hands and feet crawling away from the outpost as fast as her sick form can muster. A vague, broad path slopes gently downhill – the end of the thin trail they arrived on.
”Thank you, Captain. Please display the tapestries as you desire. May they remind you of your true selves and rich history,” responds Fergus.
Turning to the Sawplees, he adds, “Perhaps you could negotiate a mutually beneficial arrangement with the captain—they may be able to mine for you, and you may be able to trade for them, both sharing in the profits.”
Ascending back up and out of the outpost, Fergus rejoins the others outside and looks to see if they have a campsite picked out.

"Well I think we deserve a good 3 day rest after that" says Jorzu as they enter the mess hall on the way to meet up with the others. "Im sure the townsfolk will be..." he pauses mid sentence when he sees the stone doors ajar with no sign of Boona. "Umm, where's Boona?" He runs to the open door, hoping she will be just on the other side sucking in some fresh air. He peers outside.
Reply to Jorzu, Fergus says, “Very little rest for the wary, I am sure—those additional townsfolk apparently include Bryony’s family. Still, we can’t rescue them if we are dead on our feet.”
Joining Jorzu outside, Fergus looks for his pony, Jeeves, and if he finds his loyal steed where he was tied up earlier, Fergus lights his bullseye lantern to aid in their search for a campsite.
Hjoldak picks up one of the tapestries and partially unfurls it to the ashenwights. "Zorzula's banner, once mighty," he instructs his dead audience. "We shall not be forgotten, not yet."
Fergus, Quinn, and Jorzu make their way back through the tunnels and up the shaft.
The goblins have gathered around the front doors, now partially open. Jorzu sees little outside, but Fergus spots the bobbling lamp of Boona, in the distance, carrying one of the prisoners across her shoulders.
Catching up to Boona, Fergus is able to get his bearings on the mountainous trail. Now some distance from the outpost, the air is cooler here, and much sweeter to breathe. Having spent some time here just before the sun set, he remembers many of the details of the terrain here. He recalls seeing a sheltered dale off the trail which could provide both shelter from the cool alpine winds as well as from prying eyes from the trail.
There is a hint of a dull glow to the east. Dawn is not too far off, you expect. But the night remains black, for the moment at least. All is quiet.
(Would the party like to try here for a Long Rest, perhaps? Or press onward, back toward Phandalin?)
