As it is about to fling itself at Isaac, the smallest handis struck down by the spirit guardians for a final time - it rears up in pain, splaying its gigantic fingers wide, as it is consumed by holy fire. Admitting defeat, the last surviving hand crawls as fast as it is able towards the rift. Fon may make an opportunity attack.

Hi there! I'm a Christian musician based in Canada :)
Mimzy hovered in the air, her translucent moth-like wings fluttering as she raised her hands. Channeling mystical energies called down flame-like radiance towards the lumbering undead monstrosity before her. The column of searing white flames descended from above, bathing the creature in holy fire. The undead let out an unearthly shriek as the sacred inferno engulfed it, writhing in agony as the purifying blaze seared its putrid flesh. Within seconds, the abomination was reduced to smoldering ash by the righteous conflagration. With a satisfied nod, the winged faerie flew back towards her companions her first thought of the child that she had healed earlier.
Mimzy: the hand curls in on itself, flesh charring and wrinkling. Its wounds sizzle and burst in the holy fire, spattering scolding, green arterial juices like miniature volcanos. Satisfied, you fly over to check on the young child. She is crying, but looks as though she will recover from her wounds. The older woman raises her hands to you in a gesture of gratitude. Do you speak Elvish?

Hi there! I'm a Christian musician based in Canada :)
"What... was THAT!? WHAT WAS THAT?!!" the small kobold would shout as he collapses to his knees. Looking towards the remains of the undead hands he would gesture wildly towards the hole in the ground and the piles of smoldering hand remains... "Where I came from... I mean we had sharks and other beasts in the deep water... but on land.. it was just sunny golden beaches... not... not whatever the hell that was?" He would continue, sliding the rod back into his belt. The teal colored kobold would pull off his hat and use it to wipe the dirt and mud from his face. Taking a moment he would simply shake his head in disbelief before standing back up and placing the hat upon his head.
About this time he noticed the elven woman looking relieved. He had no idea what she was saying, but would make his way towards her and the little girl regardless. The kobold would take sling his ornate book around his tiny torso and open it up as though looking for a particular page. After moving his small clawed finger across the text, a small smile would spread across his face. "Hey... I have a spell in my book that would allow me to understand what she is saying if you can give me a minute" Mender would say as he sat down in the dirt with the book on his lap. With the book pages open he would begin muttering a few words in draconic as he began the ritual to cast Comprehend Languages.
Although Mimzy does not speak Elfish there are some who believe that the Elven language may be derived from Sylvan which is the Fairy's native tongue Mimsy nonetheless recognizes the older woman raised hands in a gesture of gratitude. The Fairy merely offers the woman and the children a friendly smile as she reaches down and picks up a marsh hibiscus seed pod and using Druidcraft instantly makes a marsh hibiscus flower blossom from it🌺and hands it to the child.
The little girl wipes away her tears and reaches out to take the hibiscus. As with all children her age, delicacy is a skill to be developed - her pincer-like grip crushes the petals beyond any florist's repair. Regardless, she looks quite consoled by her gift and goes to tuck it behind her ear. As the old lady continues to lay blessings upon Mimzy, Mender's spell takes effect. Suddenly, everything the elf says becomes crystal clear to the kobold. It is as though he has been speaking this dialect his entire life. "Thank you all, and bless your spirits - my poor, poor little Lilycloud" - elves use such nature-derived names very commonly - "was about to be devoured by that grave wight. I cannot express the gratitude in my heart, by Tymora. Can I offer you tea? Food?"
"This is incredible.. i can understand her now..." Mender would say with a smile before turning back to the others and relaying the message. "The girls name is Lilycloud, and the old woman asked of we want food and tea..." The kobold would add before turning to the woman and giving a quick nod. he would pat his belly with one hand and make a tea sipping motion with the other.
Mugwort nearly drops to his knees as the largest Hand was reduced to ashes. 'Toadstools, that was too close!', he thought as he shook himself and straightened up. "Is everyone ALIVE? Anyone need healing?"
"Wait. Clear the chasm area! While I still have some control left, let me make certain nothing is on it's way up to visit." As soon as he sees everyone is a good 10-20 feet away from the chasm, Mugwort will use the rest of his '10 minutes' and call down bolt after bolt down into the chasm... just to be cautious. Once 'done' and his control fades, he will walk over to the others and proceed to aid in any way he can.
The bolts' intense flashes reach depths of the chasm which the sun has not yet risen high enough to illuminate. Roll me a perception check in the private chat...
The elvish lady smiles a toothless smile at Mender. "Yes, good... will you ask your friends here to consider my hospitality too?" She is enchantingly beautiful despite her age, with glossy black hair domesticated into a neat bun and bright brown eyes. She seems to exude vitality.

Hi there! I'm a Christian musician based in Canada :)
Mugwort walks over to Mender. "Sorry about the broken goblin speak when we first met. It's a stupid thing I do to strangers at the Inn just to have some fun at their expense. I apologize for leading you on. And THANK YOU for keeping that Hand away. That was way, way too close for comfort. What the heck WERE those things anyway? I have lived in and around this swamp my entire life and that was something 'new' even to me."
Mugwort's nervous chatter goes on as he walks with Mender and company back toward the Inn; ocassionally looking back over his shoulder at the chasm.
Mender would look around and ass his new companions looked to be heading to the inn, he would look back to the woman and smile. He would reach up with his small clawed hand and hold it in his for a moment before giving her a quick nod. he would then back up and wave goodbye to the woman and girl before walking back alongside Mugwort.
"That's OK Mugwort. I'll be honest, you are the first goblin I have ever met. I just assumed that was how all of you talked." Mender would say with a smile as he gave the goblin a pat on the back. "I had never cast those spells before... It was my first time.. I am just glad it worked, I didnt really know what would happen." The kobold would shift his book around so that he was clutching it against his chest with both arms. "You cast some pretty impressive spells too! That lightning was intense.. You all were fantastic!" Mender would say excitedly looking around to the strange group of characters. "I want to know more about all of you! I... I have something very important I need to do here in the swamp... and I think I am going to need your help. Maybe I can help each of you with something in exchange for your help with my problem?" The kobold would ask, looking from one person to the next as they made their way back to the inn.
The woman nods to Mender. As Fon approaches, she takes his clawed hands in her own, mutters warmly in elvish "Thank you, son of the aearee" and smiles at the kenku.
After making his way back to the inn with the others.. he would make his way back towards the same table he had been sitting at before alarm went off. Slinging his pack onto the chair he would climb into the chair and sit on top of the bag once again. "Well.... That... was different." The kobold would say before reaching out and taking another piece of fish from the plate. "My name is Mender by the way... I believe I was introduced to Mugwort and mimzy... but I don't know your names..." he would say as he looks to the Kenku and the human , and takes a bite of the fish. "Please, sit! Have some of my freshly caught fish and rum! I had no idea I was paying for an entire jug!" Mender would them motion for everyone to sit down at the table, while accidently sending fish crumbs falling from his toothy mouth..
Mender would extend his clawed hand towards Fon for a handshake. "OK Fon, I... well I didn't expect that tone of voice to come from well... You know what! nevermind, this place is very interesting! So this is a inn AND a monastery?" The kobold would look around wide eyed. "I never would have guessed. So tell me more about you! I want to know about all of you!" he would say before shifting his weight and working a writing utensil from his pack and some empty paper. "I need to take notes.. no one is ever going to believe the things I have seen when I get home..."
As mender talks with the party, he would order another round of drinks for the table if the jug of rum runs out.
*Mimzy flutters her wings amusedly as she listens to Mender praise Mugwort whom she has known Mugwort for ages, but it was entertaining to see others discover his charm for the first time.*
"Oh Mugwort, you're just so popular tonight!" *she teased lightheartedly.* "I've never seen you make friends this quickly. You must have really impressed them with your spellcasting back there. I'm proud of you and I knew you had it in you!"
*She gave Mugwort an affectionate nudge with her elbow before turning to Mender with a dazzling smile.* "And you, Mender! Such kind words I can already tell we're going to be fast friends as well."
*Looking between Mugwort and Mender, her eyes twinkle with delight.* "I'm thrilled you two hit it off. It warms my heart to see Mugwort getting the appreciation he deserves. And making new allies is always welcome. The swamp can be so dreary without good company and those who can watch you back!"
*She claps her hands together eagerly.* "Now, you mentioned needing help, is this about the portals, then?
*Her wings flutter and Mimzy does a small mid-air pirouette, unable to contain her excitement at the prospect of new quests and camaraderie.*
