"Not quickly," he replies to Nathaniel. "I would need to get in touch with a colleague of mine, or perhaps attempt a ritual but I make no promises that will work at all." At the mention of the fireplace being magical in nature he walks around to look at it. 

The fire calms slightly when a manilla folder is brought near, but nothing changed in regard to the content of the folder. After trying the inkwell you notice how the folder seems to absorb the ink fully until until it is gone while in other pars the ink just beads into droplets onto the folder. You look at the front of the folder stamped with the Dying Viel emblem, but there is something missing compared to the 2 you saw last night. The eye in background is not on any of folders. 

What do you do? 

Nisha observes with a blank face the testing and how it doesn't yield any spectacular results. "Oh well. Is it the folder that is enchanted only or the pages as well..." her voice trails off for a moment, as her brow furrows slightly and she reaches to take something out of the backpack. "Is that the same sort of folders as the ones we picked up last night from the bordello?" the rogue leaves the stolen folder from the previous night next to one of the new ones to compare. 

Kaelen remains stoic and quiet as those more skill in investigations and deductions do their work. He just mutters small prayers under his breath as needed for every person in the room as he gives them a quick pat on the back or touch on the shoulder.

OOC:

Kaelen is working going to cast guidance on everyone and then on whoever needs it after they use up their expenditure of it, since he is not an investigator.

The folder and pages are covered in illusions magic. Side by side they do not resemble the folder from the bordello. 

Last night on the sheded skin and on the metallic card taken from the invisible man is this emblem. The folders from the guild hall only have the blade and key. It does not have the eye in the background. 

The party was on to something with the fire and ink. 

Continuing with the exercises in trial and error, the pale winged tiefling brings the manilla folders back to the magical fire together with the ink, hoping the ink together with the light of the fire would reveal the true contents of those files.

Nisha steps closer so she can look too and assist if required. "Maybe try writing something next to the fire to see if the ink will move again?"

what kind of magic is the fire place?

Nothing happens by the fire as the ink needs to be involved. The fire in the fireplace is evocation magic. 

The pale winged tiefling nods to Nisha and does as the mysterious half-elf suggests, briefly smiling up at the gentle minotaur for his reassuring presence.

"You could try drawing the missing eye on, see if that does something." Laine offers.

The pale tiefling nods to Mr. Laine and tries what he had suggested too.

"Maybe heat the ink while you are at it, " Nisha tilts her head to one side, wondering what else to try.

Nathaniel tries to keep up with all the advice he is given and does how the half-elf says.

The ink turns to a shade of deep red., but the eye in the emblem is still missing. The fire roils and grows in size to encompass the entire fireplace opening. Perhaps you should try drawing the eye.
