Slicing up the bloody flower in frustration, Omen looks around for any sign of the girl and her attacker with his keen eyes. However, the only sign he can find are thin scratches on the ground near the plant making a irregular trail which appears to lead back out of town towards the forest. Amery immediately recognizes these as the same scratches and pattern that you found in the fairy's house.
Thar and Kalgren examine the plant they found as well. The vines appear to be growing directly out of the cobbled street in a single patch. So the vines themselves do not appear to lead anywhere. Casting his spell again, Kalgren senses traces of the exact same magics he found on the rose in the fairy's bed, only it seems stronger. Or perhaps just far more recent.
(Lol yeah i've seen it do that before with the rolls. I just go off whatever number shows up. Buuut, unfortunately you still didn't find much.)
"Weird... do you think it could come from below the street? I mean... from the sewer? or a tunnel recently dig? "
Kalgren examined the plants from every possible angle to trace a mental image. 'A possibility,'he muttered in reply to Thar's question, 'but one that can be discarded.' He pointed at the cobbled street. 'None of the stones are disturbed. And there is that same kind of magic lingering here as at the cottage: conjuration, enchantment and necromancy. It's an odd combination as spellcasters tend to favour one school over the others.'
He knelt down to take a closer look at the rose. 'This rose is at the centre of it. A vampiric plant that bleeds, that's the necromancy. Enchantment I suppose the flower could have properties that can lull one into a stupor. Conjuration though? Why conjure something like this? Byproduct of something else? Maybe. Calling card? Unlikely. What is the connection...'
He pursued a different train of thought. 'Conjuration also involves teleportation. Could that be it? There are dryads who can leap from tree to tree, maybe something similar...'
Kalgren stood up and dusted off his knees. 'Whatever the case, it's recent and it's potent. Stay on your guard, Thar.'
He then proceeded to turn his thoughts outward. How's it looking up there in the sky, Lily?
Omens frustration would only grow as he failed to spot any real clues as to where the girl went... "Do we follow the scratches back to the woods? But if we are wrong then what happens to the girl..." The kenku would grumble as as he pulls his hat from his head and clutches it tightly in frustration.... at a loss he turns to Kit and for then for the first time ever.. to Amery. "What do you think... Back to the forest... do we keep moving around the area? Also what about the others? Where did they go?" He would ask... looking somewhat defeated. Kit had almost never seen Omen without a "next move" or gameplan ready... And the kenku himself was at a loss...
"I found the same scratches as before in the fairy's home. If these belong to the dog plants, they most certainly will be chasing the Twig as she even confirmed they are after her for some reason. I say follow the tracks we do have into the forest." says Amery with a look of concern on his face. Hoping he can save Twig.
Amery looks to Omen "I think the others stayed behind with the kids. I don't think we have the time to go back and bring them along. Let us get going" He then follows the tracks into the forest with his torch raised before him. Dang, I stand out like a lighthouse, but I need the light.
Kit, Omen, and Amery race towards the forest hoping to rescue poor Twig. As they run, they continuously lose the trail of scratches, they manage to rediscover it a few times but ultimately lose it for good. It's as if those plant dogs vanish and reappear on command. Despite losing the trail, they know where the trail leads. The forest. Soon, Amery's Torch illuminates thick brush ending just inside the treeline. Most of it is the typical underbrush found within these kinds of woods, however upon closer inspection you can all make out thorny vines wrapping around the trunks of trees and shrubs alike. This woody mass makes the place look like a kind of fortress, one that no sane person would try to push through unless their life depended on it. Not in the dark at least.
Kalgren and Thar, deciding there is nothing more to do with the plant, head back to the Stonedog. The first thing you notice upon entry, is the fact that the loud dragonborn seems to be absent. Since the it is quite late, most folks have gone to bed, leaving most tables empty. However, there are two unfamiliar faces in the room. Sitting at the table close to the fire is a heavily armored elven man and an equally armored human woman. The woman seems tired, and doesn't look around much. At the moment, she has her back turned to you, giving you a good view of her long dark brown hair. She doesn't seem to notice you. Instead she just picks at her food. On the other hand, the elf sees you as soon as you walk in. He waves at you, smiling brightly.
Kit won't allow herself to say Twig was dragged in. She's still denying the facts in the hope that she somehow escaped from the creature pursuing her. She only hesitates a moment before drawing her longsword.
"Hey! Woah STOP!" Omen would shout as he quickly grabs Kits hand. He holds it firmly but not so hard that she couldn't pull away if she wanted. "You believe that the missing villagers are alive right!? or that at least some of them are?!" He would pause before placing his other hand over top of the hand he was holding "Look... it is not safe to go into the forest right now. If you believe that any of the missing villagers are still alive, then I am sure she is still alive as well. We can go marching off into the woods first thing in the morning if you would like... but not now. Not here in the dark without our whole group." The kenku would say as he looks Kit in the eye. "Either all the missing villagers are dead... and we are already too late... or they are alive somewhere and it can wait until morning... either way I don't see any reason to run into that forest right now... I don't want you disappearing on me." The kenkus eyes look shaky before he looks away, turning to Amery. "What do you think..." He would ask before clearing his throat and releasing Kits hand
"I should have been protecting her but instead I just wanted to throw something at her, or blast her out of the rafters. And now she's lost...in there."
She looks at the Kenku with eyes that recall she's a relatively young Half-Elf, despite her years.
Thar listens and nods at Kalgren words about magic schools, not really knowing much of all of that and agrees with him that there is nothing more to discover there
"At least we know where there has been activity of those weird dogs or whatever.. and it seems that we could trace it back to its source and hopefully find the missing villagers...let's go back to the inn, the others should be back there soon, hopefully with that little girl, and we should get some rest. I am starting to feel the traveling day and the late night... "
Once they enter the main room he waves back to the elf.
"Welmet traveleres" he said to them as he and Kalgren walks in.
Amery looks to Omen "I know it looks bad in this plant fortress. How about 2 of us wait somewhere more hidden while the third person runs back and get the others. Then we can head in this place at dawn. I am not ready to just go back to town empty handed. At least this way we can keep an eye on the place." He is torn with hoping Twig still lives and recognizing the danger in front of them.
"So your going to stay up all night? You are going to need your mind sharp for tomorrow... we all need to get some rest so that we can focus on the investigation tomorrow." Omen would object... looking from Amery back to Kit.

Kalgren gave Thar a reaffirming nod and followed the bugbear to the inn. A gentle weight landed on his shoulder to inform him that Lily had descended from the sky as he entered the inn. Probably looking forward to a drink and then sleep.Kalgren thought to himself. Definitely looking forward to those two things. Was the the reply he got. He smiled. The whole mental communication still got the better of him at times.
The inn was significantly emptier than before. The only people of note were two fresh faces: a man and a woman, both heavily armoured. They seemed amicable judging from the friendly smile Kalgren and Thar received when they walked in. 'Sir, miss.'Kalgren greeted the two. 'You mind if we join? Drinks always taste better with company.'
OOC: So i like how It shows that I crit my perception check.. but when I hover over it it shows I rolled a 10.

She turns to Amery.
"Which way did they go?"
Thar scratches the back of his head.
