"I couldn't see her ears in the dark. I almost forgot she was one of us," Kit says to Amery as if that should explain everything, "I'd rather we not spook her again but I'd like to talk to her; or at least make sure she gets back safe."
Seeing that Kit chose not to play her music... he would continue walking. Looking down at the ground and using his lantern to illuminate any visible tracks, he would follow the tracks to the best of his abiliy.
'Think that kid knows something?' I asked the others. I remembered seeing the girl when we entered the town. Some went after her but came back empty-handed. Sounds like something up my alley. After all: I'm a people person.
'You keep looking for whatever it was that darted to town.' I said before muttering an incantation. My clothes rippled to cover up my usual belongings and began to change colour. After a moment I looked like a pompous noble wearing clothes that could pay off my debts in one swoop. 'I'll see if I can get little miss mysterious to chat.'
I took off with the self-important stride of someone who could buy this entire town. The fat coin purse dangled from my belt like a piece of forbidden fruit ripe with illusionary coin. If that didn't draw her attention, I've got other tricks up my sleeve.
Time to go to work, Lulu. I need eyes in the sky. Target is a child: red hair, curls, elvish features, looks like she's been living on the street.
You got it, partner.
Try not to engage her. But if you do: be nice.
I only felt a slight tap on my wrist before an invisible mass flew out my sleeve. I shrugged and followed.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As Kit rethinks her plan to put the fey child to sleep, Omen tries without success to relocate the trail they had been following. He could follow the slim scratches back the way they had come, but the path forward seems to have vanished.
Meanwhile, Kalgrin trys a plan of his own. As he pompously waltzes down the street, the girl immediately notices him and dashes into an alleyway. However, after he walks by her head pops back out to stare at him. Her face bares a mixed expression of confusion, suspicion, and a hint of mischief. She glances back down the alley, then back at the idiot noble walking around in the dark. Clearly she's torn on whether to continue to her destination, or snag some shinnies from the oh so tempting bag on the man's hip. She shifts her weight from foot to foot, and her hand twitches as she tries to make up her mind. Then she decides that she simply can't let this chance go by.
Stealthily, she dashes back out of the alley and starts to creep up on Kalgrin, eyeing the illusionary purse.
The girls Perception to notice the rest of the party: 21
The rest of you can either roll stealth contesting the roll above, or she will see you.
Noticing that the rest has go to hiding, Thar tries to hide in the shadows of an abandoned building too. Not sure if they should try to catch the girl or just prevent her to escape in case their trap fails he approaches a little bit, just using the building as cover as he moves.
(No need for a roll Kalgren. You know exactly where she is.)
Completely unaware of the four people lingering behind the noble, the girl continues to sneak toward her prize. As she does so, she pulls out a small knife then dashes forward. Her plan had been to grab the purse and cut the strings holding it to the mans belt in one swoop dashing away without stopping. However, her hand passes directly through the purse and the small blade strikes nothing. The lack of resistance causes her to stumble slightly, hopping twice on one foot as her momentum carries her forward.
Now Kalgren can roll dex if he wishes to grab the girl.
Rolled a 2 for DEX in the campaign log, of course, so going with a different approach.
The plan worked: the girl took the bait. I stopped for a moment to look around, trying my best to look as confused and lost as a kuo-toa. The girl lunged forward. She stumbled.
Just as planned.
I reached out with my hand. I grabbed nothing.
Not as planned!
The girl slipped through my fingers. Time for plan B. Magic filled my voice. 'Halt!' I told the girl in my best city watch accent.
OOC: i hadn't posted because I didn't think I would do anything as things unfold, but I suppose I should actually post that :P
Omen would watch as the girl tried to rob the illusion. Seeing it take place, his body would tense up as he had to choose whether or not he was going to intervene. Before the kenku could step out from the shadows, he stopped when he heard the command from his companion. The bird watched with unblinking eyes to see if the girl continued to try to run.
Easily Avoiding Kalgren's futile grab, the girl catches herself and stops for a brief moment looking at her empty hand in confusion. Her head snaps up when he yells at her to halt, she lingers for a split second staring the man right in the eyes. She still looks confused, and a little perturbed but there is not fear in her green eyes. Then she spins around and dashed back down the alleyway.
Those of you with passive perception 16 or over:
Right as the girl dashes back down the alley, likely perusing her previous destination, you see two dark shadows on the rooftops dash after her.
"Up there! on the roof!" Omen would say to his compaions while pointing a gloved hand. "I think it's the beasts from the house!' He would add as he takes off running towards the direction the girl went. "They are following the girl!"
Amery did not see the shadows but trust in his companions and starts running after the girl and tries to warn her "Look up onto the roof, monsters are after you!"
Amery stays silent as he waits to see what Kit is up to as he knows of magic, but not its inner workings.
Kit tucks the thelarr away, unused, and turns to the others with questioning shrug.
Amery looks to kit and whispers "Were you about to do something or should I just try to chase her down?"
Kit leans in close and whispers.
"I couldn't see her ears in the dark. I almost forgot she was one of us," Kit says to Amery as if that should explain everything, "I'd rather we not spook her again but I'd like to talk to her; or at least make sure she gets back safe."

Does Kalgren need to roll anything to see how his plan is unfolding or is a passive perception of 15 enough?

😆Same!
"Lolth's hairy legs, this might actually work," Kit thinks to herself as the girl fumbles with the pouch.
The Elvish she says out loud when the girl slips through Kalgren's fingers is best left untranslated.
Kit starts to make a move but stops short when the investigator unexpectedly starts spellcasting...
(Rolled 14 in pms! Ya'll almost had her!)
