Kai, grits his teeth and yells as the dinosaur successfully gets the halfling, but before the Indominus Rex is able to fully chomp down, the rune on his dinosaur skull helmet hums with power (The rune from the bonus action he used last turn reduces bludgeoning damage by half).

Ah...my turn was right after the Indominus Rex bite, so this is before he becomes half health, but I was waiting to see if there was anything else he was going to do. I was going to take the dodge action if the Indominus Rex wasn't going to do anything special but now it would be kind of cheap since you had announced a DEX saving throw...so I'll just do this instead:
Reaction: Stone Rune, WIS save DC 17 as soon as the Indominus Rex ended his turn. Description if it fails in the spoiler:
When a creature you can see ends its turn within 30 ft. of you, you can use your reaction to force the creature to make a WIS saving throw (DC:17). Unless the save succeeds, the creature is charmed by you for 1 minute. While charmed in this way, the creature has a speed of 0 and is incapacitated, descending into a dreamy stupor. The creature repeats the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success. Once you invoke this rune, you can’t do so again until you finish a short or long rest.
