If there is anyway for Cal to position himself to flank thus giving him advantage on the roll that would be awesome
Ummmm... nothing I can think of.
If everyone is okay with it I could just take care of this narratively to let Cal perform the coup de grace since it only has around 4 hp left, though.
For the sake of keeping things moving and since the fight is pretty much over anyway, I'll just say Cal swings his weapon and mortally wounds the creature. As its body fades away, a bone-chilling laugh escapes it.
"You have won against us... but the Exalted of the Dragon shall prevail. Even the Lord of the Shaded Isle cannot save you or your world from what is to come..."
Each of you receives 300 xp for this encounter (yeah, it's a lot... but you guys earned it by utterly destroying a CR 8 encounter).
"We'll see about that."The red-haired Half-Elf says with a scoff, the massive djinni swooping down at her side. "How much longer to the lich? My master can bring us there like the wind." She says, looking between the Half-Orc and the greenclad man.
"Almost there," Bridgette says, pointing to a stone building in the distance. "About an hour more on foot... I think... but if your master can get us there faster then I won't complain."

Unless anyone objects to this, Lord Amir would then use his genie powers to turn all those present into wind, granting everyone the swift speed to reach the lair of the lich in a few minutes.
(I'll just go ahead and assume no one objects to using the Djinni Express)
In what feels like an instant, you cross the last few miles of the ruins, and find yourselves at the gates of an ancient fortress
Though clearly old, the fortress is in much better shape than the surrounding ruins. As you approach the massive doors, they groan and slowly swing open. Beyond the doorway you see him... the ancient being that was once a man... his gray robe billows in a wind that no one else can feel as his empty eye sockets regard you all.
So you have come, he says... his voice sounding strangely tired as he leans heavily on a black staff that appears to be made of polished stone.
He pauses for a moment as he catches sight of Lord Amir. He bows his head briefly in respect.
It is an honor to have one of the great lords of the djinni in my humble home. I bid you welcome. And the rest of you as well. Come, it seems we have much to discuss. I apologize that my home is not especially well-suited for mortal habitation, but it should be serviceable for the time being. Do any of you require food or drink?

Duwamilly feels Garl Glittergold's laughter resound in her very soul: that scamp Firion sent someone to hinder them... but he only managed to do them a favor, providing the victim Cal needed to get some relief from his curse. The futile final threat of the defeated enemies seems to have given confidence to Yasmina, who had instead seemed not too convinced earlier. And the battle fought together seems to have brought the new friends, Bridgette and Zander, closer to the accursed. Once again, the brute force of violence has been turned, with an elegant twist of fate (certainly facilitated by the Leader of the Lords of the Golden Hills), to the detriment of those who tried to use it!
At Zander's thanks, the ex-Preceptor replies: "You're welcome! It has been my pleasure! We should thank you for the blows you directed at our enemies, then! We are a class - oh, sorry, no, it's just that I taught for a long time, before embracing a more... adventurous career - we are a team, I meant! It's obvious that everyone does their part".
"Is it better now, Cal?" the gnome cleric smiles at the colossus. Luckily he managed to kill his opponent himself! It almost seemed to her that someone else, ignoring her shouted advice, had finished off the enemy instead of Cal... but no, that wasn't the case. Now, his curse should leave him alone for a while longer.
When Yasmina offers everyone to be transported 'like the wind', Planerunner enthusiastically accepts: "Of course! Not only is it a beautiful experience, I remember it well, but in this case it is also useful! We will arrive much earlier, minimizing the risk of other dangerous encounters. Plus..." she turns in particular to Bridgette and Zander, who have not yet tried that sensational way of traveling "...you'll see, it will be beautiful! It's an experience not to be missed! You fly free like air... because you become air! I mean, no, you become a cloud... Well, it's beautiful anyway! And a practical demonstration often helps more than a thousand words. Not that there's anything bad, in a thousand words You can explain a lot of things, with a thousand words. I often do it. But there are circumstances in which a practical demonstration, I must admit, is more effective. So, let's just do it!"
Meeting the ancient being that was once a man:
"Your courtesy is exquisite, Lord Matic Akkron!" Duwamilly exclaims, approaching with enthusiasm "You must be the lich who inspired the joke about the gentle lich entering the tavern! Do you know that one? No? I'll tell you it now, then - it's so short: a gentle lich walks into a tavern, goes to the counter... orders a beer..." brief pause for effect, also looking at the other's exposed bones "...and a mop!"
"As far as your offer is concerned, my Lord..." the ex-Preceptor smiles "If by chance you have a good tea, I'd welcome it... maybe a Lapacho? Never heard of it? Or a Rooibos? It's rich in antioxidants, you know? It helps you age slower... I'll fetch you a mop, if you too like to try it! Joking, of course! Or maybe a Sencha green tea? But, hey, if you tell me you have none of that, I understand very well. You've changed a lot since the last time I saw you... as I expected, by the way. We come from the village, we had breakfast this morning, we can also move on to the 'much' that 'we have to discuss' - and most of that is far less pleasant than a joke. I'm glad, anyway, that you already seem to know a lot of things! That way, at least, it will be easier for you to believe us!"

The Gnome's effusiveness, which not so long ago would have chafed at the Tiefling, now only draws an amused smile and a knowing glance at Cal and Yasmina...
The experience is not repeated when they meet the Lich.
Awed by the power and majesty of the living dead, it takes every bit of Delvindra's training to capture and control the urge to recoil. As Milly prattles on, and without the need for whispered voices, Delvindra feels a growing desire to throttle the Gnome until she stops...
Deep, controlled breaths help restore calm to the Tiefling. Glancing at her less talkative companions, Didi finds herself taking comfort in the presence of her fellow accursed.
To the shock of everyone who isn't named Duwamilly or Bridgette, the lich actually chuckles at the Cleric's joke.
It has been some time since someone has been brave enough to jest with me, he says. There are servants whom you cannot see in this fortress, they can bring you whatever food is in the cellar and prepare it however you like.
If you take him up on the offer and ask any of the unseen servants for food or drink, it turns out that there is a decent selection, most likely kept specifically for special occasions like this one.

With Yasmina safe and Duwamilly already in combat, Delvindra moves up and attacks the creature fighting Zander.
Action Attack: 8 Damage: 7
Bonus Action Attack: 18 Damage: 7
Delvindra's first punch goes wide, but her second strikes true. She proceeds to crack the creature's head open, and it fades into nothingness.
Top of the round, Yasmina, Zander, and Cal are up!

Zander can flank him for Cal, which should let him do his coup de grace :-)

Fair enough, we can just say that Zander used his movement to get behind the monster after downing his own opponent :)
