Neither of the handaxe strikes land, instead both strikes whizzing past the spider as it moves around the attacks.
Another spider comes dashing out of the dark of the back of the cavern. There are now three spiders, half the size of a mouse, moving toward the front of the cavern, while a fourth looks like it's ready to flee and nurse its injuries.

Peanut's eyes go wide as what was supposed to be an interesting snack turns into them being the snack! Looking around she sees many, many small stones, so she leaves the ones in her pack alone and scoops up three.
Imbuing the stones with her magic, she flings one at the nearest spider.
The rocks sail uselessly past the three biggest spiders...
Triggered by something (perhaps attack pheromones?) the little spiders all over Num start looking for a place to bite him! Fortunately enough, there's enough chaos that some of them fall of instead and Num is unhurt...

Clive rushes in, a blur of mousey fury. The bite of the sword and the spin of the kick drops another of the spiders, leaving two dead at the entrance of the cavern.
The other, previously wounded, sprints for the back of the cavern, having decided it wants nothing to do with any of this prey that can hurt it so badly.
The last two spiders are about halfway across the cavern, moving toward the adventurers!

Kintla sighs, seeing one of her shots go wide, she moves up in range of her longbow, then shoots at the target that's closest to her, there isn't anything much she can do.
Longbow: 14 to hit, 5 damage.

Kintla's dulled arrow thumps into her target with a hollow sounding 'thud' before the spider steps back, then turns to flee from such dangerous quarry. Another, however, steps around the sudden flash of Theodore's fire, being too dexterous for the attempt, and raises its legs menacingly, like it's trying to look bigger and more dangerous.
Two of the five spiders lay dead, and two more are fleeing, while a fifth tries to look menacing approximately 45 to 50 feet past the entrance of the cavern. There are still sounds in there...
And baby spiders still crawling all over Num...

Jerad looks around frantically, clutching his spear as the spiders swarm them. He's not sure what to do at this point since tripping them doesn't seem like an option...
"I do hate violence," he says sadly, turning to Num. He attempts to swat the baby spiders away in a non-threatening way... if that's even possible.
(I think this would be a grapple, not sure if I have to just target one of them though or if they act as a swarm?)

"Please get off him. You don't want to get squished do you?" He mutters as he tries to brush the small creepy crawlies off of his companion.
Peanut suddenly grabs hold of Clive in front of her and points to the ceiling. "Um...um... guys? There is something on the ceiling and well, its bigger than those spiders." she audibly gulps as she can't tear her eyes away from the large shadow, trying to figure out what i is.
Num hears Peanut mention something about the ceiling, but doesn't understand why the ceiling would be more dangerous than the very large spiders coming at the group.
He slashes forward with his axes again, trying to figure out these multi-limbed monsters movements.
Hand Axe 1: 12+5 = 17 to hit for 3+3 = 6 slashing damage
Hand Axe 2: 10+5 = 15 to hit for 3 slashing damage
The last of the spiders on the floor halts as Num meets it halfway and cuts into it. The damage is pretty severe, and one of its fangs goes spinning off and lands on the ground.
Unfortunately, Num is suddenly covered in webbing that is sprayed down from the ceiling of the cavern as a spider, easily bigger than any of the party, descends on him. He is suddenly restrained by the webbing as the spider drops down over top of him...
Beneath the webbing, the baby spiders continue to crawl over Num...

Clive runs closer (can't reach with 30ft of movement. He aims to get 15fg away) and then throws a dart. But it goes wide (probably. 8 to hit). Turns out he is only a spider slayer in melee
The rest of the adult spiders flee, save for the big one, which remains perched over Num. They race into a corridor that leads off to the left of the cavern and disappear, wanting nothing further to do with such lethal prey.
Clive's dart indeed goes wide, flying off to the side and doing no damage to its target.

"Watch out, dude!" Kintla calls out, she loads another arrow in her bow and fires at the big spider, hopefully knocking her unconscious... that's definitely 'her' because female spiders are always bigger than males.
Longbow: 14to-hit, 6 damage.

Jerad, still not really wanting to fight these spiders, moves to stand between the oncoming swarm and Peanut, hoping to prevent them from reaching her. "Please stop,"he says waving his arms. "We really don't need to do this. Are you hungry? Or are you just mad that we are in your territory?"
Animal handling: 16(not sure if it will help, but Jerad doesn't want to fight...)
The arrow whizzes into the room and hits the spider on the face, the blunted end making it recoil for a second. As this happens, Num seems to freeze...and suddenly goes to sleep, while the spider shakes and raises its forelegs to rub at its face like something is wrong with it...
Good news for Num is he won't have to watch the spider eat him...

Clive will repeat his technique from last time seeing as it was effective. He picks the nearest target that is not retreating,
Move up to spider with half or less movement (up to 15ft)
Action: Shortsword attack: 24 to hit, 7 piercing damage
Bonus action: Unarmed strike: 21 to hit, 4 bludgeoning damage
Move back to behind someone else (no opportunity attack due to mobile)
After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)

"NUM!!!" Peanut cries as she realizes what she was a giant spider and now it is on top of him!
She attempts to run past the others as far as she can and flings another of her magic pebbles at the spider looming over her friend.
Attack: 8
"Another miss!! ARGH! Just get out of there, Num, don't need to attack it!"
And she rubs her little paws together until a small blue glow grows around her paws, and she quickly directs it to encompass Num.
Peanut's magic washes over Num, and the spiderlings clinging to him abandon ship...and begin to rush across the floor toward Peanut in a swarm...
