'My kid, Lin, has been telling me a lot of stories about you. You might have met him, I don't know, he used to live in the undercity before I took him in'
" I am a student of Arcane Natural Philosophy - Alchemy, Herblore, Medicine and a bit of eldritch tinkering to enable my work. I ply my trade primarily among the poor and downtrodden- which includes many in this town, more is the shame."

Zacharius chuckles. 'Yes, that does sound like what I've heard. I must say, I had assumed young Lin was exaggerating the stories of a genius ratman herbalist'
"Ah, yes, Friendly young lad with a Rat for a friend? I helped him out of a spot of bother with an automaton. I was impressed with his report to King Brock- smart kid!"

'Yes, that sounds like him. I'm trying to bring him up to be civilised, teach him some manners, with mixed success. He's a good kid, and I reckon, given the chance, he could really make something of himself. But eating like an animal or throwing mud at people isn't going to do him any favours'
"You are to be commended for your efforts. Thank you for taking him in. That said, some people need a bit of mud slung in their direction in Vermios - especially those who would mistreat or take advantage of a child." Doc's eyes take on a hard, somewhat feral look as he says the last bit.
"Did he ...ahh... mention anything else about me?" For the first time today Doc looks somewhat unsure of himself.
'Don't worry, the child will be safe under my protection. Anyone who tries to cross him will have to get past me first, and though I may not be part of the Warriors any more, I can still mete out a fair bit of damage. But I suppose such habits may be ingrained into him- I think I may be the only surface-dweller he trusts, and everyone else gets hissed at.'
'Thank you, I will do. He probably will, if he keeps on with his old ways for much longer. And he didn't mention much else about you, other than you being a wererat doctor. He looks up to you, I think'
"Anything more I can do to help you out?" Auburn asks the barkeep.
Waldorf shakes his head. "You've done enough, sweetheart. The party starts in about an hour. Maybe go talk to Garrik. Bloody bastard's missed you. With his daughter living with you, I can only imagine what it's like being alone all the time. Shame his wife died all those years ago. Oh, did I tell you, he used to have three dogs and two cats? Not at the same time, of course-" he continues infodumping/gossiping relentlessly, not letting Auburn speak.

"Helping out Waldorf is a dangerous proposition, young one" Doc says "Well, not the work, but the thanks afterwards will burn up your morning... and afternoon." He smiles ruefully "You know it's true Waldorf- leave them alone now that they have done all your work for you."
Doc winks at Auburn "Thank you all the same from all of us who call this place a second home. Can I fix you a nice cup of tea, perhaps, while we wait for the festivities?"

"and I am doctor Miguel O'Hara, or Doc ,if you prefer. I too spend many a night here, especially when the undercity is particularly cold or damp" Doc bows slightly, "Can't have the doctor getting sick before the patients."

"Ahem.... I certainly hope at least some of what you have heard is accurate. And yes I am the only 'Doc' in town as far as I know." He bows slightly.
