Nathan willowdrake, the man with brown hair and a grimoire from the tavern before. He had looked at Fazil once more walking toward him as he looked to Maggwyn whom he seemed to agree with.
"Aren't you formerly from the Academy? I too was once apart of it.. I remember you're name passing about. Eldrick and River spoke of you a bit, I still keep in contact. Hmm.. but that isn't what I wanted to say. I had thought you cautious. You are not near the gate to Emberwood. You'd rather head out now? In you're wounded state? Before taking a small rest? I understand not trusting another party perhaps but with the monsters and brigands about.. I suppose I figured you more cautious. However I am not surprised a tiefling is so reckless, they tend to get swallowed up the most often in Drakkenheim for that hot hotheadedness alone. Still.. River is proof some can be.. sensible."
Charlotte had shot Nathan a look as Auron shook his head a bit.
Flint walked over and gave Maggwyn a bow.
"I apologize for my friend, I do assure we just want to help. It's rare to have adventurers fight monsters and stand up to brigands. I'd rather see more honorable folks keep thriving here to be honest. Course the second being you're adorab-
Charlotte clears her throat and looks to Dabbert and Thuribula with a bow giving Maggwyn an apologetic look.
"Keep the fragments, both of you.. really, Flint may be a flirt but he's right it's nice to see folks that have class travel the ruins. If were ever in a bind maybe you can help us out one yes?"
"I never plan on being in a bind! Also nothing wrong with hot headedness! I only worry that if you all travel in Drakkenheim at you're current state I may never have the honor to see you all again. Grim I know but a real possibility."
"Of course the choice is up to you all, if you do not wish our aid we will head on further in the ruins.. and see what we can find."
OOC So they can take the short rest help or go on ahead. The choice is up to them! (Probably a party talk for sure!)
But if no to the short rest I shall than roll encounter dice for the way back!
"Cautious, I am. However, the faster we leave here, the better..." Fazil frowns a little, and then something occurs to him. "Actually, we might have to take a small rest. Thuribula is badly injured." He looks over at the Flamekeeper's current state. "Yeah, sorry, Maggwyn. As much as I want to leave here as soon as possible, but with Thuribula's injury. Suppose we encounter something much worse than what we had faced. She might end up dead... so would the rest of us once she is down..."
Fazil looks at Nathan, "I'm glad to hear those two still talk about me. Tell them I said hi, and I will return after I finish what I've come to Drakkenheim for."
Thuribula looks around her at the haze of the ruined city, the menancing octarine glow and the heavy oppressive fog and clouds. The whole scene makes her skin crawl. By the Flame, I would want nothing more than to be out of this place... but she can't argue with the bruised fatigue of her limbs. Her robes and armor are spotlessly clean now, thanks to Fazil's magic--maybe that's one reason why mages find little hardship in not marrying; their spells do all the cooking and cleaning for them--but underneath them she knows the case is not so pretty. It hurts to move right now.
"Having a little time to rest and tend to my wounds would be welcome," she says. "They are not so bad that a little rest won't fit me up to make the journey back. I myself would appreciate your group's protection for a short time, Auron." She stoops to pick up the fragment that she had tossed at the elf's feet, and replaces it in her bag.
Maggwyn looks over at Thuribula and winces, she was being rash and she knew it. Her friend looked alright, but she saw her before Fazil's magic. She supposed there was a chance to run into more monsters or ******** on their way back to Emberwood. Sighing, she takes a seat on the ground, acquiescing.
As Flint continues to flirt, she looks at the man, a little intrigued as this was a bit unnerving and different for her. She smirks on the outside, dismissing it, but what did the man want? It was putting her more on edge thinking he was trying to trick her into something.
When Charlotte sits next to her, she continues to look at Flint, trying to get a read on the man. "Flirting? That's what that was?" she finally stops trying to figure him out and gives Charlotte her attention. She smiles a sly smile, "Interesting eh? How so?"
Dabbert listens to this back and forth, and actually expects Maggwyn to punch Flint for flirting but is glad when she doesn't. He breathes a short sigh of relief, especially once his friends have been convinced to take a rest.
"I thank you. All of you." Dabbert ways to Auron and company as the others have a seat. "I'll remember this. Friends don't uh...count favors."
He offers a hand up for Auron to shake, then has a seat near the others. He offers a reassuring smile to Maggwyn, and then a concerned look for Thuribula.
Flint offered a playful wink to Maggwyn from a distance as he went to scout the area.
Charlotte looks to Maggwyn and chuckles.
"A strange way of it but yeah, Flint can be weak to a pretty face. Honestly Thuribula would too.. but religious folk aren't his thing.. That and I'd say he's even weaker around tieflings honestly. While I appreciate he doesn't share the same racism that many at Emberwood do.. I doubt tieflings prefer the flirting."
She offers a soft smile when Maggwyn ask how so.
"Well.. I think the horns are really cool. Plus many say there is infernal blood in you but.. No two of you are really the same. You face hardships from Emberwood.. but choose you're own paths. That being said.. The Queen's Men really take advantage of Tieflings falling on hard luck and recruits them often. Also... the last thing is a bit shallow.. But I just think you guys look really neat!"
She chuckles sticking her tongue out playfully.
Auron shakes his hand.
"Aye, let you're flame rekindle while we watch!"
OOC Anything anyone want to do in the hour of downtime/short rest?
Fazil takes the time to eat his ration and drink from his waterskin; afterward, he checks his spellbook for anything else it could do after being awakened.
Maggwyn scowls. "He better knock off that winking." she growls under her breath but loud enough for Charlotte to hear. "And you're right, we do not prefer flirting." She thinks back to the one she met at the tavern as she lumps all tieflings together in her statement. She shrugs.
She starts to actually smile a bit as Charlotte starts talking about how she appreciates her race. But when she mentions the Queen's Men, Maggs scowls again and spits on the ground. "Bastards. All of em." She shakes her head at the last bit, letting a small smile return as the woman gushes about her. She doesn't know how to respond, most people recoiled at the sight or like she mentioned, tried to take advantage of them. She reaches up and touches her horns, the double horns on each side of her head that she was 'blessed' with. Never considered the fact she 'looked neat'.
"I promise he means no harm, ..ahh the Queen's Men.. they certainly add to all this chaos. I hear they even offer work for rogue Mageborn. Rumors say they are changing agenda.. To what? I don't know."
Charlotte blinks surprised by Maggwyn's question but smiles toward her as she hugs her knee's close to her chest as she adjust her longbow on her back.
"I'm from Caspia, but I spent a lot of time here in Westamar growing up. I had family here, I don't remember much but I am sure they were some sorta noble family. I wasn't far when the comet fell actually. Honestly.. I'm lucky to be alive ya know? Where were you? 15 years ago when that comet fell?"
OOC Fazil is missing two spell slots from magic missile though. He has 1 spell slot left you mean? He could recover one slot and have 2 spells instead of 1 but he can save it too.
Thuribula lowers herself to the ground with relief, and closes her eyes for a moment. She opens them again at Dabbert's question. "Thank you, but I am not bleeding too much, I'm mostly bruised... ah..." She grimaces in pain as she moves her battered limbs. Dabbert gets the sense, though, that even if she were in need of bandaging, she would demur for the sake of modesty. She smiles at him in appreciation, though, for his desire to help. A kind gesture in a strange place greatly warms the heart. Her gaze follows Auron, Charlotte, and the others, the weight of their kind gesture even more of a relief on her. She braces her shield on her hammer and leans back against it, closing her eyes for a few minutes. And she'll just lay there, for most of the hour, as if in a dreamless sleep, no wrinkle of concern on her brow. A few times, she opens her eyes enough to rummage in her backpack and take a few sips from her waterskin. She catches herself once in one of these interludes staring at Fazil munching, and her stomach tightens a little reminding her that she hasn't eaten since Karin's generous meal last night. But it is all right. The Flame makes the most hospitable of hearths out of the hearts warmed by its glow...and she closes her eyes again to rest.
Using 2 HD on the short rest gets Thuribula back up to full health.
Dabbert catches his breath too, for what it is worth, then points to Maggwyn when she demands that the blinking needs to stop.
"I would defend her honor but I'd be more afraid of her doing it herself." He comments. His eyes shift to Thuribula. "Apologies. Must be someone else's blood then. I'm glad it's mostly bruises. For the uh...record...the field hospital is usually not the place for discretion."
He returns the smile before she goes to sleep.
"So what did you lot encounter in the city today?" He asks Auron and company. "Seems it has been quite busy for my friends, and strange at that, though I suspect that is the way with Drakkenheim."
OOC Fazil is missing two spell slots from magic missile though. He has 1 spell slot left you mean? He could recover one slot and have 2 spells instead of 1 but he can save it too.
OOC: Omg, I was looking at the wrong character sheet! But yeah, I'm going to use the Arcane Recovery.

Fazil notices the stare and throws one of his pack of rations over to Thuribula without saying a word.
Auron places his blade over his shoulder with a wide grin looking to Dabbert.
"I'm looking for the legendary Rat Prince monster. I've been hunting Ratlings all day.. They seem weak but their snipes are pretty tough and in large numbers they'll mow you down. It's sad but a rookie group that had lacked some backbone just.. Perished to the lot. I want Nathan to talk to River about it cause I got a lead she might know! Ahh.. River is a woman of the Academy. However Nathan left the Academy and doesn't exactly.. Agree with the Edict as it stands. Ahh.. such a monsters head on my wall would be.. Glorious! That and with less Ratlings adventurers won't get killed as often. After that.. I think I'll work on the Garmyr. It's a shame.. they say Garmyr may have just been regular canines before the meteor fell. Now Westamar has a real dislike for things. A shame.. a good hound can make for a loyal friend. So.. if I may be nosy my friend. What were you up too? Beside Delirium hunting?"
OOC If no one is doing much on the downtime after Dabbert answers Auron's question they can head back. Regular pace? Fast? Slow?
Dabbert nods, taking his sweet time to sit and think about things as Auron talks.
"We came for delerium." Dabbert admits. "And to get some experience with the area, of course. But uh...I guess I came to make a difference? And I figured I'd start by taking advantage of the most valuable resource in the area. We all have the same sort of intention to do good. Just maybe in different ways? We'll make it work."
Some of it is an answer...some of it is simply thinking out loud.
On their way out of the city, Dabbert will be trying to watch out and use stealth while moving at a regular pace, more interested in avoiding trouble and getting out of dodge than most anything else...
"A new agenda you say? Bah still.. keep those away from me. 15 years ago? I was around, and yeah, we're all still lucky to still be here after the world has gone dark here." A shadow passes over her face and it is clear she doesn't want to elaborate.
Changing the subject she tuns to Thuribula, "Glad you're alright, that fight was a bit close. It's good that you have that heavy armor, but you're not invincible. It's alright to pull back like I did. True, never like to, but.." she shrugs, "it's how you survive."

"Hmm.."
Auron smiles at Thuribula and lets out a hardy laugh. Charolette smiles as she sits beside Maggwyn with a smile
"Sorry about Nathan's rude words and Flints flirting! Hiya! I gotta say.. I always thought you tieflings look so interesting!!"
With that Flint and Auron begin to make rounds as Nathan cast Alarm around the perimeter.
