I AM PURE HATE! MY NAME IS BURDURXA SHADEMAKER! TREMBLE IN FEAR AT ITS MENTION!!!! PM ME THE WORD TOMATO OR I WILL SLAP YOUR FIRST BORN CHILD!!
If I'm accepted but moved to the good team, I would want to tweak my backstory (and my future subclass but that isn't set in stone until level 2). Possibly change race too but a good lizardfolk can exist with the right backstory
also question, why are rogues exclusive to the evil party? I get clerics paladins and warlocks because based on what you said the only gods in this world are good, and warlocks are usually fiend warlocks, but why rogues?
because it doesnt make sense to have a good rogue, but it makes complete sense to have an evil rogue. not all rogues are worshippers of evil but some are. a thief can never be a harbinger of good and no i dnt count robin hood scenarios as good.

Hi! I'm EJO. I am a silly billy who forgets to play Genshin Impact every day and totally DOESN'T simp for at least three different ninja girls. Some other facts about me:
Milio has been ditched. Now Xerath is my friend.
My average accuracy in Marvel Rivals is about 15%.
Thought I'd flesh out Synntax's bio-background a bit...
Synntax is the fifth son of a minor noble. Not even a direct fifth, he was the third son from the lord's second marriage. Being less than 'necessary' for the future potential to the throne, Synntax was never welcomed or accepted by his relatives or peers. Growing up was a daily hell which only grew worse over time. When Synntax came 'of age' and never having received martial or arcane training, AND showing no sign of a divine call, he was offered a choice -- a lifetime of service in the military forces or seeking his own path outside the borders of the kingdom.
Being a soldier, even a lord's fifth son, was paramont to being assigned to the jakes perpetually. Plus, his total lack of martial skills meant he would be dead in less than a year, for certain. The choice was made easier after a night of drinking at a local tavern when Synntax was jumped by a group of 'loyal' foot soldiers and beaten near to death.
He woke to find himself in a bed, in a chamber, being attended to by the local herbalist. Two long weeks of recovery had him back on unsteady feet. Even so, he quickly packed his meager belongings and prepared to walk out the main gate of the castle. Hurried as he was, he still made time to stop and lay three gold coins on the healer's table for all that had been done to speed his healing.
Since he was not considered to be in the line of succession, he felt no desire to stay where he knew he was not wanted. Synntax did take particular pleasure in wearing purple during his exile, just to get in a little dig at his father and family. And so, time passed -- as it always does.
- - -
Synntax wandered the lands, slowly working his way further and further afield from his ancestoral home. Odd jobs. Commissioned jobs of dubious concern. Chopping wood for a meal. He did what needs must to get by. The toughest times were the bitter cold winters. Time slowed and his bones nearly froze as he oft times found himself sharing a pile of hay with horses and cows in a drafty barn... burrowed deep for what warmth was to be had.
It was one of these 'low ebb' stretches when Synntax drank himself into a stupor and passed out in a shabby tavern at the very edge of his father's domain. It was also when he woke to discover he was now pledged to The Fiend... his new, eternal, if not infernal patron and master.
- - -
It took several years to learn how this 'just happened' and the story hardened his heart even more against his father. Before his birth, his father was already seeing signs of unrest and failing crops in his kingdom. None of his actions or decrees had turned the tide so, he turned to magic for aid. Distrustful of the Druids, he instead worked with a clan of warlocks who helped invoke their Master, the Fiend. A pact soon followed -- the lord would rule for many decades to come in a land ripe with wealth and security -- for the small price of the soon to be born 'fifth son'. It was a small price to pay since he had so many heirs already.
So, Synntax grew ever darker in his heart and soul. Turning more and more to the darker tasks found in every place the living gathered -- village, town, or full blown city-state. There were always deeds to perform and 'tasks' his Master required of him.
And, as you state in your last line -- DM's world / DM's rules. In THIS world, he laid out the basic duality of 'good vs evil'. So, we play in this sandbox. :D
Hi, have you already chosen the other 2 evil players or is there still a possibility I could join?

Maybe for their subclasses? Assassin doesn't really sound like a heroic or divine path to take.
But not all rogues are thieves. I could imagine an arcane trickster being basically just a wizard that’s skilled at wielding weapons.
I just cant really see it, rogues use stealth and trickery, thats not the way of the honorable holy.

Alright. Guess it kinda makes sense. But I do think that rogues could be good people.
anyways, I’ll try and post a character and backstory soon. I think I’ll try to make either a barbarian or a ranger.
I guess that's true. Plus you have other subclasses like Inquisitive and Scout, which seem to have roles better suited for the right side of the law.
Could I audition a second character for the other side, so if you need to move players around, I have a character for the evil team?
Sorry guys, I can't play. I had to make a new character and i'm not subscribed so I have a max of 6
I had to delete my character to make space

There are plenty of rogue character concepts that are good, honorable characters.
Sherlock Holmes is an Inquisitive Rogue. Is he a good guy?
Mastermind is a viable subclass for a general.
Indiana Jones could be considered a Thief subclass (that's how I would probably build him).
A scout is a good build for a non-magical ranger - they use stealth and their sneak attack to aid in their hunting.
Your call of course as DM on what's allowed where, but there are lots and lots of story ideas that use the rogue class for very good characters.
