"We made the journey here," Nodjeim points out. "We should make the journey worthwhile. Turning away would seem a waste..."
It is suggested that perhaps we can diminish their numbers by drawing them out. We find out preferred place to take a stand and do something to draw a few of them to us. It could be something as simple as a noise or a campfire... Something small to draw just a scouting party would be ideal. We could then reposition ourselves and try it again, perhaps expecting a bigger response... Or none. And then if they do hole up where they are then we could do a recount and reconsider options.

Hey, It's me, RaccoonMaster! I'm back! I disappeared for a while there, but now everything's good and I'm trying to get into more games!
I'm an actor, writer, singer (opera, musical theatre, and rock are my preferred genres), backpacker, and tall person (6'5 and counting). Pronouns are whatever, I mostly use They/Them though.
My Characters: Elsenia Selevarum:The Popular Paladin, Aasimar Noble, Level 5 Paladin of Redemption;
If you're planning an ambush, I'd like someone to draft out a plan, and you all can make modifications as you like, or just go for it. Then we can narrate how it goes wrong works perfectly.

((Based on this... On the west side there seems to be just the one wooden steps structure to climb out. If we draw them this way it would hopefully at least slow them down from ALL responding at once. So any guards or lookouts at this top level would need to be taken out quietly if possible... Possibly using illusionary chickens to draw them to us? Then when we are clear up top we start a fire or something, maybe make some loud odd noises to draw more up... Hopefully a small group investigating, not the whole camp. We take care of them then try to lather, rinse, repeat as needed?))
OOC: It seems as if Threlan, Olan, & Nodjeim have the highest stealth. So that could be the small group which would climb to the western platform, and kill the gnoll sentries.
OOC: also, where is the ogre exactly? is it just standing in the main area?

I was thinking along similar lines, but have Olan loosing the occasional arrow from somewhere else to cause confusion. So the rest of you (red star) start to draw them NW. Once they start moving Olan starts firing from different spots so they don't all rush you (making way towards you).

The ogre is in the house closest to Olan in the South.

If everyone is in agreement about the plan, we can begin with Olan making a stealth check to approach the first point. Chakka will go invisible and station themselves at the second point, since that gnoll is unlikely to fall to a single attack. Considering their stealth bonus and the fact that they can change color, they will instead cast magic weapon on Olan's bow, or another weapon of his choice.
Then, the rest of the group can make their bid to distract the gnolls.

Threl gets into position, and then waves his hand, sending the chicken towards the guard (the one on the very north-west of the map is the one we want to draw away, correct?)
OOC: who is going to shank the guard?

A quiet squawk catches the gnoll's attention, and a few seconds later, as it looks toward the source of the sound... a little white chicken comes pecking through the brush. The gnoll approaches the chicken, which wanders away, and draws its spear. It bends down, prowling after the bird, and is almost in the right position, when... it sniffs. Once. Twice. It whines, confused, and stares harder at the chicken. Then, as if a switch has been flipped, the gnoll's perception of the chicken shifts, and it becomes translucent to the hyena-man. The hair on the back of its neck rises as, stupid as it may be, it understands that it's been tricked.
(Unfortunately, I rolled an 18 on the die. Even with a -2 int mod, that still beats your save DC.)
I'm afraid that it's time to enter initiative. If you beat it, you'll have the chance to cut it down before it manages to call out. Rolling now... Evelyn gets a 7, Nodjeim gets 20, Veldruk gets 5, Threl gets 17, and the gnoll... you've got to be ******* me.
The gnoll rolls a Natural. *******. Twenty.
In that case, I should roll initiative for everyone, I guess. Not how I expected things going.
