So I was thinkin that right about now Penumbra would be searching her knowledge of the paranormal for any clues as to what might be going on here. I am not really sure what skill to roll for that check, I suppose arcana might fit the bill but that seems more along the lines of magic to me. Since we are a group of paranormal investigators, I though perhaps we could do a homebrew skill for the paranormal. Maybe based on intelligence and a modifier determined by the DM based on our background.
I was also thinking about the group, how did we come to be a team? I figure someone came up with the idea and recruited the rest of us at some point, I really don't think Penumbra makes very good leadership material with her 10 charisma.
Parnormal knowledge feels like Religion (INT) to me.
Nillis joined the group for the juicy stories. I don't think he'd be the leader of a group. Maybe we all met somehow and found out we really love all things paranormal. One of us was probably already working alone and the rest of us went, "Let's join that guy."
Esano has experience of working as an investigator in a city so is used to working with a team, solving crimes, it doesn't make him leadership material necessarily but he understands how groups work together in occupations like this.
I would have thought Investigation covered it a lot of the time, and this is the sort of stuff we are good at investigating.

Vhon - Level 2 Warlock - What shall become of the Drunken Sailor?
I suppose I may be being a bit pedantic, but I think investigation applies more to looking for clues in the environment while I was looking more for something to represent Penumbra trying to recall anything she already knows that might help. Religion might fit. Or maybe just a straight intelligence check.
I could see Esano getting into the paranormal through his previous job, maybe he had a case that made him realize the need for a group dedicated to the paranormal. Then in the course of that work he could have met the rest of the group. That doesn't mean he has to be the leader so to speak but it would explain how the group came together.
Lets try something a little unconventional for Penumbra's check.
First, Penumbra will have to Investigate the room for physical signs of the paranormal. Then, she will make an Insightcheck to find mental evidence of the supernatural.
Add both rolls together and I will determine the result.
I tried to make it clear that this was an exploration-oriented adventure. Perhaps we could get a little more discussion amongst the party members. Don't be afraid to take charge and simply state that you "walk down the corridor". Little things like this could go a long way in speeding up the adventure.
Yeah. Except I'm playing a character who goes with the rest of the party to tell their epic stories to other people. Anything beyond helping out and offering suggestions is kinda out of character since he doesn't want to influence their story too much.
Sorry, I've been quite slack recently - I'll try and post a bit more often, but I'm away at the moment and only have my mobile so I may have to ask the DM to do any rolls for me.

Ok, I'm game.
So, uh... What are we going to do now?
Lol. My thoughts exactly.
