Elsenia examines the black goo from a safe distance. Interested in all things alchemical, she also tries to get a sample for analysis. Not really having anything else to hand, she scrapes some of the black goo onto the tip of her quarterstaff.

Professor Sharpbeak walks over to the trunk "Oh, I believe that is a special new magical leather conditioner we're trying to keep campus equipment in tip top shape. Thank you for defeating the monster, but I must be on my way" the proffesor hurries away, clearly uncomfortable about something. Before she goes, she tosses each of you 1 Platinum Piece.

Ooboron tries to catch his coin, but fumbles it, and it hits the floor. Picking up the coin, he looks down at the plantinum in his hand, then back up at the fleeing teacher. "That was strange," he says to no one in particular.

It is obvious to Ooboron that the teacher is lying. But why?

Ooboron frowns. He looks at the two trying to collect some of the goo and comments, "Be careful. That's no leather conditioner."

Weaver grins, rolls up her sleeves, and puts her goggles on - safety first, you know.  "Don't worry, Ooby, you should see some of the stuff oozing around the Feywild - have you ever stepped in congealed embarrassment?  Really awful stuff, clings to the boots for days."

 Venrys gives a sheepish smile. "Well, I suppose that round goes to you, Elsenia. I look forward to a rematch." He prepares a spell to assist the others, but, seeing everyone is doing well enough, he holds off.

Venrys notices Professor's Sharpbeak's unusual behavior and casts a skewed glance as she hurries off. He turns to Theo. "Theo, you seem like the kind of person who's good at following people surreptitiously. Do you think you'd be able to tail our teacher without being spotted?"

Theodore shrugs and tries to vanish into the crowd to follow the professor.

Stealth check 10

Theo follows the professor, slipping between the larger folk, keeping an eye on Sharpbeak. Eventually, she flies towards a nondescript door and looks around [Perception: 8]. She fails to notice Theo, and slips inside, the door starting to close behind her.

Theodore approaches the door and tries to see if he can hear anything going on behind it.

Perception check 9

Theo hears nothing. Owlin are known for being silent when moving, and the buzzing throng of students makes it even harder.

Elsenia smiles at Venrys. "I look forward to the rematch," she says.

She notices Theodore follow Professor Sharpbeak and is concerned. Why would the professor lie to them? Surely she must have her reasons, Elsenia mused to herself. Maybe she is just trying to protect them, her students, from something, but what could that be? Elsenia thought Strixhaven would be a safe place. She was not prepared for evil chests that tried to eat them on their first day.

Theodore, returns to his best friends and shakes his head. "Didn't learn anything new, I guess file for future reference. Something fishy is going on."

Unlike his companions, Theodore lived a rough life in which violence could happen at any time. Which made the situation hit harder, this is a place for pampered folk to learn magic not be assaulted by strange creatures, and lied to by strange professors.

Theo returns and reports. Aurora has stayed quiet throughout the ordeal, but now she speaks up "that professor was acting kind of strange. Must be tired from all the festivities of the first day of school"

You spend the rest of the day touring the campus, and learning about the classes you'll be taking. That night, you go to bed. The next day, you start classes. 

I would like everyone to roll me a charisma check of your choice (intimidate, persuade, deceive, or perform) and describe your first impression to the rest of your class.

In addition, I would like everyone to roll an intelligence check of your choice (arcana, religion, or nature) to test your knowledge and potentially impress the teacher.

Theodore tries his best to blend in with a group of people way above his social standing. He works with what he has observed while stalking a mark or scouting a target home or business. The rabbit boy also uses what he saw and found in the home of the Habinurgs'. Hopefully his act is successful.

The guy's best education came from the streets. All he knows is sometimes the beggars claiming salvation from a god are just liars trying to earn a copper. Growing up in a city also did not teach him anything about the nature of the world. *sigh* 

Naked INT check 5

Weaver is looking forward to actual classroom instruction, instead of "hand me that wrench" and "don't stuff marshmallows into the transmission box." Still, it never hurts to have a few marshmallows on hand, just in case. She walks in the door to her first class, and decides she's going to pick where she sits by smell, and makes a big deal out of pretending to be a polymorphed dog.

Once she finds her seat, she'll think really extra special hard to remember what you do after all the marshmallows have been removed from the transmission box and how the precise inscription of magical runes can activate devices and amplify their usefulness. 

Arcana: 23

Ooboron wakes early the next morning and attempts to give himself a pep talk while clutching desperately to the necklace his grandmother had given him. He tries to convince himself that this is a chance for a new beginning. And, even if he can't have real confidence, he can pretend.

Performance: 24

Unfortunately, he has had no formal training in arcana, despite his novice ability to use it. His attempts the day before fell flat, but he gives it his best during his first day of class.

Arcana: 18

Venrys arrives to Introduction to Archaeomancy in the morning, quill sharp, outfit sharper. He takes a seat, leaving one nearby for his dorm mate. As the other students mill about, waiting for class to begin, he joins into a discussion of a few other noble-appearing first year students. They get into a spirited discussion about their families and what lead them to Strixhaven. Venrys, for his part, keeps the details light. No need to get into his family's convoluted history now.

Persuasion 23

The class itself is a welcome challenge for him. He finds that he's already learning quite a bit about the wider world of magic. Strixhaven has opened his eyes to a world far grander than he'd ever experienced in Szarcozia.

Arcana 14

For the most part, your attempts to fit in, make friends, & impress the teacher are mostly succesful, though the Beginners Guide To BANG! teacher is not impressed with Theo's supposed knowledge of herbs and chemicals.

Ooboron, by the end of the week, is feeling that maybe this school year won't be a complete disaster. He might even perform. Might.

Some kids give Weaver weird looks, but most laugh at her jokes and high energy antics. Her popularity is furthered by the bringing of sweets.

The Intro to Archeaomancy teacher is particularly impressed with Venrys's knowledge of magical lines and their family trees. He can't remember his life before, but he sure can remember details about other peoples families.

The rest of the week passes by with you starting your classes and extracurriculars, meeting new people, and learning your way about the expansive five campuses, one for each college. One day, you are hanging around center campus, when you notice a throng of students excitedly whispering, and then starting to walk off. As they leave, one student breaks off to talk with you, Aurora. She hasn't hung out with you guys much, preferring a different crowd of friends, but she has stayed friendly enough. “You’ve all got to see this!” Aurora laughs. “We found these weird frogs and snuck them into the Fireside Lounge at Firejolt Café, and now we’re going to race the little hoppers! Quick! Come see before the professors find out!” with that, she runs off, beckoning for you to follow
