Surprised, and injured, by the attack Pisgah casts Blade Ward and then attacks the mimic directly in front of him (it is labelled M2 but it is the one in line with ArdneK and Pisgah) with two Longsword attacks. Attack 1: 22 to hit for 4 slashing damage and Attack 2: 16 to hit for 9 slashing damage.
Nikk snaps off a Firebolt at the mimic Pisgah was attacking. Attack 1: 18 to hit for 4 fire damage
M2 collapses into a squirming shapeless mass after ArdneKs rapier punches a hole in it and that attack is swiftly followed by Canti and Steel.
M3 wobbles precariously, heavily damaged, but refuses to back down. Still attached to Pisgah, it flails at the barbarian with a club-like appendage that is coated in acid. Steel steps forward and throws the attack off, sending it past its intended target by a hair's width. Attack (adv. cancelled): 15
M1 also attacks the barbarian. From outside it almost looks like Pisgah is getting swamped under an avalanche of barrel parts with teeth. It swings an appendage, trying to adhere to Pisgah, but falls short. Attack: 15
Initiative: 1. All PCs: < YOUR TURN 2. Barrel Mimics: M1, M3 (heavily damaged)
OOC: I can't see Nikk's character sheet from my phone but add his turn when I can get to a computer to see what to roll for Magic Missiles at 3rd level. No fire based damage with ArdneK inside the room.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Steel will step up and attack M1 with his Force-Empowered Rend
Attack: 23 Damage: 15
Rico will take a step forward so she can see both remaining mimics. She'll take a couple more shots with her infused pistol, starting with M3, and switching to M1 once M3 falls.
One strike from Pisgah and an arrow from Canti send a mimic (M3) lurching back and collapsing to the floor.
Nikkitchs magic missiles impact upon the remaining shapeshifter, pummeling it hard. It avoids the second arrow from Canti, but slithers right into the perfect spot for ArdneK to exploit. The kobold carves a great wound into the monster.
Last but not least, Steel and Rico follow this up, punching and shooting the mimic until it finally shrivels up and succumbs to its wounds.
We're out of initiative! Everyone gets 270 XP for dealing with the mimics.
Nikkitch looks at the mess, one claw shaking visibly.
He speaks with some effort, in the voice of the corpse he had spoken to not long ago. "Enough." The kenku stares at the mound of barrels, hate glittering in his black eyes. "Alcohol. All. This. Trouble. Just. Alcohol."
"No. Good. Treasure." The wizard turns around, giving the group a short glance. "I. Go. Back. To. Tavern."
The wizard casts a spell and becomes invisible. And away he goes.
[Nikkitch has left the party and plans to go back to the Yawning Portal. From now on, XP will be divided by 4 instead of 5.]
Pisgah can now check the barrels in peace: turns out all the intact ones do indeed have alcohol in them: a tasty hearty ale. In fact, it's very good. Good enough that any tavern would be happy to pay its weight in silver. Each barrel contains 40 gallons of liquid and weights around 400 pounds. After counting, you determine that there are fifty-nine intact barrels here.
Rico comments, "This is quite a treasure. Sailors would love to have this, as would taverns. But these barrows are too heavy to transport. I could only carry one in my bag of holding, and even then only if I emptied out most of the stuff already in there."
Canti watches Nikk walk away and disappear. Frown lines appear between her eyes. She considers calling out after the kenku, but then just sighs. She had found his motivations curious from the beginning. This was just another example. "Bye," she says quietly.
Let's sort through the barrels and toss any of the destroyed or damaged barrels into the pit traps.
Once we have the room cleared out and organized we can set aside the 58 barrels
We go take a look in the secret room across the hallway and see what is in there and if there are more barrels of ale in there we consolidate the good barrels into this room here.
Once that work is complete, we can crack open barrel number 59, have something to eat and some good brew while we take a short rest
After we have rested, I will dump the poison we harvested from Shunn from two of my vials, clean them out, and use those for samples to take back up to The Yawning Portal. When we go back up we give one of the vials to Durnan to sample. If he is interested, we hire a group to come on back down here and retrieve the barrels with us.
We will have to deal with the guards at Dead Eye watch post but if we can deal with them then we have Rizzle to help back us and the rest of this level should be easy to traverse.
Once we are done with that we can restock on healing potions and sell of any other items we may want to get rid of before coming back down and going to the third level. "
OOC: If my math is right based on Preyfire's note, the barrels weigh 400 pounds each and if we tap one that will leave us 58 barrels to sell for a profit of up to 23,200 SP or 2,320 GP split four ways that's 580 GP. If we split it four ways and leave one share for group beneficial items, like healing potions and such, that would be 464GP each. If there are more barrels in the other room the profit margin is even greater.
" Absolutely, but first, could the poison be used to concoct something that would incapacitate the Dead Eyes crew? We could probably make our way past them again but I dont know about getting back in this area if they are still on duty. Does anyone have the skills to do that? If we could drug them and knock them out, we could use that portal and send them to the other level, that way they would have a fighting chance."

[Ah my bad, let's call the one Pisgah and Nikkitch just attacked M3, updated map below]
ArdneK will move just SE of M2 and attack.
Attack Rapier: 24 dmg: 27 (pierce 10 +bludge 3 +booming 7 + Sneak 7)
If they willing move: 4 thunder
Bonus action: Disengage 10 feet south.
"Yikes!" Canti says, extending her collapsible bow. She fires two arrows at M2 (unless it's already down, then M1).
Attack 1: 23; damage: 9 piercing damage
Attack 2: 22; damage: 12 piercing damage
Rico will send Steel in to protect both Pisgah and ArdneK. Steel will position himself adjacent to both and use Deflect Attack when he can.
Still will also use Force-Empowered Rend on M2.
Attack: 20 Damage: 7
Rico will then put a couple of shots into M3 (the one she has the best view of).
Attack 18 damage 10
Attach 29 (crit) 19

Longsword attack 2: 10 to hit, 7 slashing damage

Nikkitch raises a taloned hand and five bolts of energy streak forward into M1 as he casts a 3rd level Magic Missile for 16 points force damage.
Canti fires two more arrows at whichever creature is still whole and attacking.
Attack 1: 17; damage: 12 piercing
Attack 2: 10; damage: 12 piercing
ArdneK will move back up and attack M1 or M3 if M1 is down.
Attack Rapier: 24 dmg: 24 (pierce 9 + bludge 3 +booming 5 + Sneak 7)
If they willing move: 6 thunder
Bonus action: Disengage back south where I started

OOC: A silver piece per pound is a much more reasonable price than a poind of silver per pound! Still quite a bit of treasure.
Ricco says, "Let me clean those vials thoroughly before you put something people are going to drink in there!"
