"I see three options, depending on how aggressive we want to be. We can try a bluff about being sent from Xanathar to go hire a group of porters to take this stash of Dwarven ale up to the surface to sell it and see if we can talk our way past the Dead Eyes post. If we pull that off, we should be able to bring a crew down to get the ale and once that is done pass back this way without much issue since they have already seen us coming up from below. The second option depends on making this poison into some sort of drug that could incapacitate the Dead Eyes watch and then we take them and their weapons to that room with the portal and drop them off at level 5. They should be disoriented but would have a fighting chance. The risk there is that they could, and probably would, alert other members of the guild to our presence. The third option is we use the element of surprise coming in from behind them to make a surprise attack on the watch post. We could also try elements of option 1 and 3, try to talk our way past and fight if we have to."
ArdneK watches the Kenku leave. He doesn't say anything, not really knowing the wizard, but clearly the wizard has abilities. Strength in numbers is good. Perhaps their path will meet again.
"I don't mind trying to cash in on this treasure, but if we go back to the Yawning Portal, we'll have to backtrack through a few Guild check points won't we? Wi'll they let us transport all this ale through their areas without trying to take a cut? I don't mind trying, but could be a lot of work.
Another option, we seal up the secret door and head to skullport? Perhaps find a buyer there, hopefully avoiding level 1 and 2 here?
I wish I could stick it all in my vessel and take it with us, but I can only bring in what I can carry unfortunately."
"Depends on how fast the Guild replaces members at the watch posts. Shunn is gone and if Dead Eyes was eliminated, we would have nothing between us and here depending on how fast we could move the stash. For now, let's check the other secret room and see what is in there then clear the broken barrels out of this room and take a short rest. I'll let you attune to the ear horn and you can take on some of the scouting duties too."
If everyone agrees, Pisgah will move to the other secret door, check for traps, then open it. If the door is trapped I'll ask ArdneK to deal with the trap before opening the door.
Rico reminds the others, "There was the second group of bandits at the top level that let us pass through without a fight. They might let us return as well, but I don't expect they'll let us through with a large amount of treasure without at least claiming some of it. And while we could fight them if it's just us, it would be hard to protect a large group of porters. If we want to return with the ale, I think we should clear out all of their outposts on the way up."
She thinks a bit more, "Also, how much will it cost to get all the porters and the barrows back into the tavern. That will take a sizable chunk out of the profits. If you need 2 porters per barrow, that would be 5 GP per barrow to get it up, assuming he charges for the barrow at the same rate as people. And can we protect enough people to bring all the barrows up in one trip?"
"Are you thinking of the 'fake' vampire group? I think we can pass through them, we have the code, and we could give them a barrel. Maybe even in exchange for them helping.
Let me see about getting this other door open so we can see what we have in that room. "
Pisgah makes sure that the door isn't trapped, which it isn't, and then reveals what lies beyond.
It is a virtual mirror of the room you fought the mimics in, but nobody seems to have disturbed the barrels here. Stacked in the middle of the room are one hundred forty barrels banded in iron. The barrels form a 21-foot-high pyramid with a base measuring seven barrels on a side.
"Wow, this is translating to a LOT of gold, more than I thought to have in my lifetime. How about this, we shift the 59 whole barrels from the other room to this one. We then rest and decide how we want to try and play out the guild posts. If it were me personally, I would capitalize on the opportunity we have now and make some money. We could go shopping for some top notch gear in Waterdeep and then come back.
If we have to take out the Dead Eyes watch post then we know we could count on Rizzerl and his wererats to help us on the way back through. "
Rolling the barrels that are already on the floor is doable by anyone. So once Pisgah and Steel lower those that are still stacked to the floor, which they can do when working together, the party can then roll them over to the north room. There are 14 that are still stacked, let's say 1 minute to lower one: 14 minutes of work for Pisgah and Steel.
Rolling them all over together, let's say 2 minutes per trip, divided by available hands in the party: (2 x 59) / 5 = 24 minutes rounded up. So all in all something like 38 minutes.
By the time this is done, please subtract a torch from anyone that is using one.
Rico says, "I'll try to make something tasty for you." She then pulls out her cooks tools and gets to work making rations more edible. The cooking is mostly to make them easier to eat, a good flavor is provided by Prestidigitation (a very versatile spell for one with no mechanical effects :-) )
Pisgah is aware of the muffling effects of his magical abilities fading over the course of the work. Finally, the barrels are all in one room, bringing the total count to
With the help of some magic, Rico produces a tasty meal.
[If everyone is good with it, the party would be well poised for a short rest.] [Even a long rest seems doable here, but there is a 30% chance that the Dead Eyes Watchpost decides that they need to investigate who caused the mess in the ballista room and find the parties trail.]
OOC: Short rest also resets Rico's ability to bandage the wounded, which is her primary healing ability (spells don't heal as much and are slower to recharge..
The gems are hollow and rough crystals, possibly created by some alchemical process or by magic to serve their purpose. As such, they are merely baubles, not worth more than 1 silver piece each. Their weight is negligible.

PERCEPTION roll of 25 (nat 20)

[ooc: there was a group or two of bugbears on the first floor, and some grells / goblins from the guild. ArdneK wouldnt know this, but you would :) ]

OOC: How long would take for Pisgah and Steel to move the 59 barrels to the north room?

OOC: Would Pisgah intuitively know that PwT has dropped by now? With the time spent moving the barrels, we would have exhausted the time.
"Whew, that was a job. I could use a snack and a bit of a rest, if folks are okay with taking a break."
Pisgah will hand over the ear horn to Ardnek so he can attune to it.

OOC: I would vote for a short rest and then move on. I am about ⅓ down in my HP. Is anyone else injured?
OOC: Short rest also resets Rico's ability to bandage the wounded, which is her primary healing ability (spells don't heal as much and are slower to recharge..
OOC: Okay, let's do a short rest. And on our way out Rico can erase all of our tracks leading down this corridor with prestidigitation.
[Alright, everyone can take a short rest!]
[were the gems that were taken from the hallway valuable at all?]
