OOC: Pisgah is down 5 arrows. Pisgah can carry about another 80 pounds of stuff before becoming encumbered so I can help haul stuff. Also, Jaya did carry a longsword (I got confused with the description earlier - one of the dangers of trying to do some of this on a phone) I will plan to keep Jaya's longsword and leave the RP stuff as me having damaged my sword making the cairn.
Rico supplies the 5 arrows (removed from inventory). She'll make more during the rest.
Using the large stones of the collapsed room, it is a laborious but straightforward task to construct a resting place for Jaya. The cairn is large and completely covers the dragonborn, his hands folded over Little Lyle. The former city guard has now been put to rest under the city he once swore to protect.
Can crossbow bolts be recrafted into arrows? My guess is no, but the fletching and heads could be used for arrows. In any case, what raw material can she get from the crossbow bolts?
Sure. You can remove the fletching from each of the bolts (20 in total). The bolt body itself is too small to be broken down into a useful component.
Expertly handling the cooking tools, Rico is able to craft a well seasoned stew from the supplies she finds. The tasty smell quickly fills the room.
Pisgah will go to Shunn's body and take the silver necklace off his head. He also will look the venom glands and try to extract some of the poison.
Survival roll 21 for first vial
Survival roll 13 for second vial
Pisgah is able to carefully extract 4 poison vials from the glands of Shunn. It seems like the poison his body produces is different from the one he had in his back pocket. You extracted as much as you can.
The dungeon becomes quiet as you settle into a rest. Seems like nothing in this section is intent on disturbing you.
[Shit, meant to cast this before the rest. Oh well]
Renewed, the Kenku begins his first task, and approaches Shunn. He turns to the others, using the drow's voice to speak. "This. Spell. Will. Only. Grant. Five. Questions." He nudges his staff against the strange amalgam's spider-like appendages. "Before. I. Cast. This. Do. We. Know. What. To ask?"
Before starting the long rest Pisgah asks Nikk about using speak with the dead on Shunn and what questions we may want to learn. He also asks if there is a way to prevent that from being used on the rest of Shunn's group. (Nikk had mentioned that on the previous page)
During the long rest Pisgah asks their new companion about happened to clan and what drove him to the underdark.
To Pisgah he says “Yes, I can store anything I can carry in and would be happy to store anything that anyone wants to keep but not carry.” He shows them his vessel, a small stone chess piece, a rook shaped like a dragon.
“And yes, it can be very convenient and useful for spying” he says with a smirk.
OOC: If anyone wanted to store anything, I could have stored it before the long rest, therefore having it available again after that. Just let me know. I have a vessel storage container on my sheet so what’s in there will be visible if you look.
He takes the proffered items from Pisgah and puts them in his pack, “thanks, I will use them well.” He also grabs one scimitar and one shortsword.
"I have 20 arrows if anyone needs some, and more inside my vessel. I don’t use my bow much anymore as I now have a magical range attack. I also have three healing kits with this one from Jaya."
"As far as my clan, I left them long ago, they were too, primitive. I think that sums it up. Raiding villages, throwing rocks. I am better than that!
As to why I’m in the dungeon, well, a man of my skills could be very valuable to a group like Xanathar’s. They’ve been trying to recruit me for a while. They invited me to come check out their operations down here, even gave me a password to use. I have no intention of joining their guild, and have mostly just stayed away from them, but figured I could use them if I ran into trouble. I think I prefer your method for dealing with these thugs though” he says with a smile, looking at the bugbear bodies.
"So, I’ve been roaming the dungeon on my own, looking for adventure, treasure and some excitement! I believe I will find more of all of those things with companions though, so I’m grateful for you all having me. I’m very good in a fight!" he says without boast.
"As to the questions for Shunn, we could combine #1 and #2 and just ask tell us everything you know about the were rats?"
Thinking that Canti is still looking the worse for wear (I don't think healing has been recorded), she'll offer Canti a drink from the Dragon Vessel to go with lunch, a bubbly prickly drink that functions as a potion of healing. Heals another +8 HP.
After lunch Rico will start crafting replacement arrows, using fletching and heads from bolts and broken arrows and crafting new shafts from wood scraps.
Recorded 10 wood scraps used to make 20 arrows. I think this takes her 4 hours of work (most of the afternoon).
After Rico's healing spell and impromptu bandaging, the kenku stands and stretches. He takes a moment to recite the rules of the spell and listens to the suggestions given. Turning, he approaches the twisted drow corpse and begins signing several sigils in the air. At the same time, a strange scratching sound begins pouring from his beak. It's a disturbing utterance, an abhorrent combination of a dog growling and bone scraping rock. Throughout it all, the wizard's staff taps the ground, culminating in it being tipped and pointed in the corpse's direction...
Shunns corpse convulses, causing something within to crack. All eight eyes open, the pale red faceted eyes catching the light of the campfire. It stares at Nikkitch, expectantly.
"I am more concerned about trying to defer blame for Shunn's defeat. If Yek is opposed to the guild, we might could plant evidence on them. I have that stone key from the dwarven frescoe. I don't know what that would go to though."

He responds once more. "If. Possible. I would. Like. To. Save. The. Last. Question. For it."
The wizard's already seen enough to recognize the presence of extraordinary magicks hidden in this ruin. He wonders if the stone keys in question are possibly part of a set to some hidden wonder. Nevertheless, he continues his questioning.
"Who is. This. 'Yek.' In relationship. To. The. Guild?"
Shunns corpse responds: "Yek is the leader of the goblins that run the market. They're no allies of ours and the guild will eventually get rid of them."
Thinking carefully, Nikkitch has no good way to consider this next question. The others he's managed to pair or combine, but the next two are more or less questions of their own calibre.
"Are. There. More. Guild. Members here. Than. The. Ones. Near. The Worms. And. Your. Group?"
[Context: forgot the name of said worms.]

Rico bandages Nikk to heal 16 HP. She then uses her last 1st level slot to cast Cure Wounds to heal another 8 HP, so 24 HP healed in total.

Encounter: None
Long Rest Complete
[No supplies or torches need to be used here, since the campfire and the supplies from the guild are more than enough.]

OOC: How about these questions for Shunn
1. Where is the wererat lair?
2. Approximately how many wererats are there?
3. What floor is Xanathar's headquarters on?
4. Are Xanathar and Yek working together or are they enemies?
5. How many more of Xanathar's guards are on this level?
Should we also ask questions of Jaya?
[It's fine, we can spool back time to before the long rest. Feel free to use up the spell slots you still had.]

[Nikkitch casts Speak to the Dead on Shunn]
Shunns corpse convulses, causing something within to crack. All eight eyes open, the pale red faceted eyes catching the light of the campfire. It stares at Nikkitch, expectantly.
The wizard tries his best to word the question properly, speaking to the corpse with the voice of the last dead man he spoke to.
"What. Do. You. Know. Of. The. Wererats. In. This. Ruin?"
He hopes that might require answering where and how many, but expects the corpse may just as easily answer with "plenty" or "enough."
Shunn replies in a monotone drawl: "They're enemies of the guild. They stole the stone key from me. My subordinates failed to find their hiding spot."
Whispering in Nikk's ear, "should we ask him about Yek's relationship with the Guild? "
He replies in a low whisper, "What. About. This. 'Stone key.' He. Mentioned?"
"I am more concerned about trying to defer blame for Shunn's defeat. If Yek is opposed to the guild, we might could plant evidence on them. I have that stone key from the dwarven frescoe. I don't know what that would go to though."
