The residents turn to look at the adventurers, opening a gap to show a weeping child being cared for by someone whom appears to be a village elder. Walking forward, the elder looks up to them. "You are with The Seven Saints? Please..." He looks to the child. "They had just taken livestock until now, but... The Cooper family were taken last night." The girl clutches tightly onto the elder's gown.
One of the village folk, a rugged looking woodsman, a human man, steps towards the party. "Aye, we've searched for them before. Their tracks are like a maze, it's impossible to follow. I can show you to where we got before it became too difficult to track, but their numbers are too great, they outnumber out village by now."
Dar kneels before the little child and uses his magic to clean her and to produce a little, traslucent rabbit for her to play as he whispers shooting words to her.
"We will do our best to save them." he says to the elder " we were overwhelmed by them last night too, and didn't expect so many or the virulent of their attack. We suspect that some foul magic is in place here and we know that they are beign leading by another creature. "
The usual jovial demeneaor of the elf is vanished, replaced by a firm determination.
" Show us please, we will try to get from there. We appreciate it." he says to the woodsman.
(I'll give a bit of leeway for ret-con purchasing anything within the village before leaving. They have access to base exploration stuff, so if you need extra rope, rations, etc. then you can buy some.)
The rugged man nods. "I'm Delvar, by the way." He says. "When you're ready, I'll meet you at the entrance to Verdegreen."
Jaylin can keep the horse and cart with Merrybelle and Jess. They have a large stable that has dwindling numbers of livestock, so there's plenty of space.
The party meets up with Delvar at the edge of Verdegreen, as he leads them out into the wilds. "Hope you've got some thick clothes, there are some nasty brambles growing not too far away." He comments, leading the party through the thick foliage. Everywhere there are hundreds of wolfprints, many fresh and old tracks. Delvar continues along through the forest, making sure that the party keeps up. "We couldn't track them any further than this." He tells the party when they arrive near a small opening in the forest life. There appears to be a lack of other wild animals nearby, no squirrels hunting for nuts, no birds chirping for the midday sun, nothing.
“Well then,” Johann says as he reaches into his bag of tricks, “Time to try something else and hope for the best.” He throws the familiar fuzzy ball a few feet away and a

jackal quickly grows. “Sniff out the wolves, and lead us to them.”
Dar begins to look at the tracks. There are indeed so many that it is indecipherable. He also notes that it is almost like the same wolf, treading over and over again in the same area.
The jackal begins to sniff around, seemingly picking up on something as it moves towards some underbrush. It does, however, seems to not be enjoying being told to find the mass swarm of bigger pack animals.
Following the jackal, the group heads a little further away from town. It has been a couple of hours since they left with Delvar, who keeps with the group. He has armed himself with a pair of hatchets, but doesn't look the warriors the others present are. The jackal stops at a rocky outcrop at the bottom of short cliff face (about 10 feet tall).
"Looks like your animal has hit a dead end too." Delvar comments, looking defeated.
"Hmm" Jaylin thinks for a second "they couldn't have run off the cliff. But if this the dead end" Jaylin paces a bit "most likely your jackle is wrong but if it's not then someone's either scattered the trail or magically moved them from here. Althought that's unlikely"

After some minutes doing it he will open his eyes and will scan the whole area trying to see the unseen if there is something to see after all.

Dar'Quilyn settles down with his spellbook and begins incanting a spell that will allow him to see magic. The jackal seems to return to Johann's side, whimpering a little.
Johann checks over the clifface while Dar'Quilyn finishes his ritual.
Johann finds that the surface of the cliff seems to be real, but it has a strange feel to it. It doesn't have the right touch for an earthy surface.
Dar'Quilyn, upon looking with his magical vision, can see that there is some magic over the rocky outcrop and the cliff face. It appears to have some sort of illusory overlay open the area.
