As the gravity of the situation sinks in, Sieg wastes no time gathering his belongings. Satchel by his side and stave-in-hand, he begins to cocoon his knuckles in mottled cotton rags.
"That's not going to happen, Dardek - we're getting out of here," he mutters, inspecting the edge of his dagger with a hasty squint. It requires whetting, but that, alongside many other things, will have to wait. "Talon knows this sewer system like the back of his, er... talons, and Nib can get us to the wreckage. Just stay close, stay quiet and keep your wits about you."
To Talon:
Catching the kobold's eye, he winks. "You'll see Cliptip again, pal... and when you do, imagine all the stories you'll be able to share with her!"
Nib gives one final look around the room, lightning quick, saying fast to Onifax, “Anything else you have to help us? I had a bullseye lantern, but…. lost it. I’ve got my dagger! But… any help would be appreciated… we gotta go!” Nib hears his reply then starts to run after everyone else, following Talon and keeping Pal nearby, giving him a hand if he needs it.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Ashley listens to the others and is hoping a decision will be made soon as she wants as far from Brother Emmit as possible. She yelps in surprise as the kobold grabs her hand and starts yanking her towards the door. Letting herself be drug and turning to Dardek, "C'mon! We need to fly!" she can't help herself but to smile, the excitement and new friends!
She then turns back to Talon, "Did you say Stinkroot? How bad is it?" she wrinkles her nose in reaction to the thought of what they are going to encounter.
Talon stops his panic just long enough to look Ashley dead in the eyes.
"Stinksobad." He says, trying not to freak anyone out. "Once I saw a vulture-bird get down there through a hole! Yeah, in the top yeah, hole in the ground? And it died, it stink so bad."
Good point. The name 'Stinkroot' must come from somewhere, Sieg muses. After rummaging about in his satchel for a good few seconds, his hand makes purchase on a woolen swatch - a patch torn off his old cloak - which he withdraws and fastens around his head as a makeshift bandanna.
Onifax smiles sadly at Talon, squeezing the little kobold's hand, chattering back in draconic.
In Draconic:
You're saving them yourself by getting these people out of here. You're a very brave kobold. The others will tell stories about you... Now go show how clever you can be too.
Releasing Talon's hand, she hurriedly moves to her desk and shuffles through her papers until she finds a small tube-shaped object which she hands to Pal. It's a leather scroll case with an emblem burned onto it... The image of a rising (or is it setting) sun.
The dragonborn taps it with her claw. "The sacred icon of the Church of the Eternal Wanderer. If the wreckage you found really did belong to their courier, you would see this mark somewhere."
Nib or Pal can go ahead and roll an Investigation check to see if they recall seeing it in their inspection of the craft.
"Now go. Quick. Talon, lead them through the armory and the knick-knack room on your way out so you can arm yourselves, but don't linger..."She narrows her eyes cunningly"And be warned that it's all going on your tab."
Just then, a panicked reptillan call echos through the chamber, amplified by the network of pipes that fill Onifax's sanctum... No one needs a translation to know what it means... "They're here."
Alianor actually looks alarmed in a way that Nib and Pal haven't seen yet in the short time they've been with her. "Playin' my song. I need ta get clear a here right now..." She looks to Nib and Pal. "Don't be daft, okay? Listen to the ol' dragon and I'll see ye when I see ye." She starts to walk away, then turns back to the wayward farmers, pointing an angry finger at them... "'n don' even think 'bour squelchin' on our deal by gettin' yerself killed... Ye owe me two gold... I'll pluck ye right outta the underworld m'self t' collect me debt if needs be. Count on it."
With a final wink and a flourish she turns and races out of the room.
Outside you hear kobold battle cries. The sound of shouting human voices... rocks hitting metal. It's on.
"Same goes for me." Says Onifax. "Go. Now. Don't come back..." Her look suddenly grows severe. "And if I ever end up regretting coming to your aid, I guarantee you... you will too."
With that, she shoos you out of the room and slams the heavy wooden door behind you...
The Armory & Knick-Knack Room
Talon leads the group through a few narrow hallways before pushing into a narrow chamber filled with disorganized racks of rusty weapons - all likely scavenged, stolen or "crafted" by the kobolds. The room is chaos. Like a medieval version of a Ross Dress for Less. Weapons and ammunition scattered across the floor. You're lucky you don't cut yourself stepping through it all. There's enough shoddy gear here to equip yourselves with one weapon before moving on.
The next room, known among those who fequent these halls as "the kick-knack room" is similarly filled with salvage. Random junk mixed in with semi-functional equipment all piled together in a grand mockery of a dragon's horde. A couple kobolds are in here when you step inside, stuffing what they can into burlap sacks... but they scatter like rats when they see you enter, leaving you alone to quickly grab some supplies before venturing out into the main sewers...
Seamew Sewer System
Talon leads you all to a flagstone wall... exploring the mortar with his clawed fingers until he finds his grip on a seem that pulls open, revealing a secret door.
The six of you file into it, ending up in the bowels (pun absolutely intended) of the town's sewer system... You hear armored footsteps marching in the distance, but the echoing acoustics of the tunnels make it hard to tell where or how close without a DC 15 Perception.
It's a good half mile to the nearest access point... assuming Talon can lead you along the most direct path... Whether you encounter any resistance before reaching it is an open question...

Ashley's eyes go wide as she takes in all the items in the armory. "If only I had access to any of these..." she mumbles as she reaches over a mace that she eyes but knows she wouldn't be able to handle it, she has a quick flashback to the pathetic attempts to crack a window, and takes hold of a solid looking quarterstaff. She runs her hand over it and smiles, the smooth wood and feeling of it makes her feel a bit more confident about the road ahead.
Heading into the knick-knack room she looks at Talon and raises an eyebrow, "So how many of these items did you help, um, collect?" She has no idea what will actually help them on their journey, this being her first one, but she sees a quality rope all curled up and decides to grab that. Leaning over to Dardek, "Maybe grab a waterskin? We can share our items? Unless you want the rope and I take a waterskin?" She is grinning like a fool as she has so many choices she finds she can't make one. She tucks a glowing red lock of hair behind her ear and waits to see what Dardek wants to do.
Dardek nods to Ashley following her lead, picking up a mace and supplies to help them get through the sewers "I will grab whatever you think is necessary to survive. Uh I will take this mace just in case I need to defend myself....Waterskin, rope, yes good thinking....I can carry them both for you if you'd like?"
Pal's in a panic and in this state, he thinks only of what might keep danger away from him, not necessarily what he could do the most damage with. He quickly goes for a quarterstaff, but Ashley snatches the first one he sees before he can get his hands on it. He settles for a second, knobbier, less-straight staff and hurries on to the knick-knack room. Pal stands frozen when he sees all the glorious junk laid of before him, so much to tinker with! His analysis paralysis is snapped when someone bumps into him as they pass by and he begins shoveling what he can into his pack. Pal spies a block and tackle set within his reach and stuffs that in atop his collection of mostly non-functional scrap.
Before leaving the knick-knack room, Seig catches sight of a plaited leather sling and a bag of its lead pellets. Perhaps some rat-killer of kobold legend, in his hands it will provide a much needed ranged option. He slips the weapon into his pocket.
"Anything else interesting in here, Talon - or just the weapons?"
With your newly acquired weapons and equipment you find yourselves needing to move at an uncomfortably swift pace to keep up with the nimble kobold acting as your guide.
Talon seems to know exactly where he’s going and he’s bolting toward that destination as fast as his little legs can carry him. The rest of you are in unfamiliar territory and need to proceed through the slick, rank-smelling channels with significantly more caution.
All the while you hear the footsteps of your pursuers coming close, possibly even gaining on you… Unfortunately, most of you are unable to determine their exact location…
Still, you have a choice… You can push on and hope you can make it to the stinkroot caverns before the pursuers find and overtake you… You can attempt to hide in the shadows and nooks and branching trenches… Or, of course, you can stand and fight... These are just the three most obvious choices, but there’s an inherent risk in each... You're free to attempt anything you can think of.

"Lotsnlots." Talon says to Ashley, quickly getting his charges through the knick-knack room and off into the sewers, every second, every glance he makes one of deliberate haste. "Just weapons and goodies, some shinies and some clinkies but all goodstuffsyeah. Grab something so wes gets moving! Yesyes, waterskin good ideas! We can fills them up in the Stinkroots!"
The little Kobold leads this merry band of misfits adventurers out of the knick-knack armory and into the sewers, his sense on high alert (Perception Roll 4...) but his mind too focused on navigating them through the half mile of man-made corridors and into the Stinkroots. He slinks along fast, absolutely sure of where he is and where he is going and with the body language to prove it. He leads them all along in what is just barely short of being a run, glancing over his shoulder only on occasion, or waiting at an intersection, to make sure they're keeping up...
Pal will continue following the group to the Stinkroots, he would only attempt to hide or fight as a last resort. As he runs, he'll say to the others, "I saw the symbol Onifax showed me on the crashed boat Nib and I passed. If we can make it out of here and get back to it, we'll have our gift for the elves!" He'll think to himself, IF we get out here... And IF it's still there...
Seig's ears prick up to the faint, not-so-distant patter of footsteps... three sets at least. Almost instinctively, his hand jolts out to seize Talon's shoulder and halt his brazen charge into the tenebrous gloom.
"We have company..." he whispers.
