Barnabas laughs, deep and full of Mirth, "You have lost at tiny chest, that holds nothing of value, and you are willing to hand out good coin for its retrieval." Getting a hold of himself thinks to himself, There is something more here than the obvious, what is our cloaked friend hiding I wonder insight8 .
"So you know what took the chest, and you know where they are?" he listens to the mans answer, ruminating before continuing. "Well a fortune is made one coin at a time, but lost in a single roll of the die. I accept good sir."
Before letting the man respond he saysKidding! as looking at the people around him I am in... just what are the names of you all he says looking at the crowd that has gathered
"I was only attacked by goblins. It is in my best interest for you to return to me alive, if I had any additional information, I would share it"
Barnabas, you do get the sense that the person is truthful. Perhaps the items value lies more in sentimentality? Or in time? Whatever it is, you didn't get the feeling that there was anything hidden with regards to what was in this chest.
Hmmmm..... maybe I should help....Horros looks around the room then takes his amulet out of his second sack which bears a simplified design of two hands crossed tied by red cord.He clips the amulet on his neck and says I am more than happy to help
Barnabas claps in good cheer, "Well then, tell us where this den of degeneracy is and we shall retrieve your item, or at least tell us where you were ambushed good chap." He looks towards the gathered crew of oddity that has surrounded the table, looking at each in turn with a nod of his head, assessing their strengths and calculating the odds of success. "Well, shall we away before the day fades?"
Ash's ears perked once she heard that the tiny chest the cloaked stranger mentioned could summon a larger one from the ethereal plane. The others around her were making fun of it, but Ash knew that was where the real treasure laid. Hopefully, Ash could use the smaller chest to summon the larger one herself and take what was inside before this cloaked man was any the wiser. "You've got yourself a deal, mister," she told the cloaked stranger cheerfully, then went to clean up her belongings at the table while the other adventurers tried to negotiate for more gold. They could have all the gold they wanted, if you were clever you knew the real treasure lay in magic.
Packing her belongings up, Ash joined the rest of the crew of adventurers as they were about to leave the tavern. "Are the rest of you ready to go?" she asked.
Melchior was too stunned for words while watching the assortment of sore thumbs in this dead beat town berate the peculiar man with questions.
When he regained breathe he immediately called out, “Deal!”
His blood was pumping faster than the beat of a dragon’s wing as he stood up, gripped his satchel, and got ready to leave on order of the strange hooded man.
As he stood waiting, he gazed at the tiefling woman and said aloud, after studying her for a moment, “I must say, it will be a delight to travel with someone descended from the angels of the goddess,” he looked down to the ground after saying this and finished with, “May her bright blessings be with us all.”
"I was ambushed about an hour north from here. Not far away from the Triboar Trail. Unless someone has cleared it by now, the goblin corpses will still be there."
Barnabas stands and collects an ample pack from the bar, looking over the others, "Barnabas, truly a stranger crew I have had the pleasure of knowing" he says in way of greeting. "So if this is what 'adventuring' is it doesn't seem so hard, but, shouldn't we be on our way. Goblins rotting in the wilds will not wait forever. Wolves, and worse may drag our quarry away." With this last bit he heads for the door, a grin upon his face and not looking back.
Melchior is startled by the sudden outburst from the half-elf, but he regathered his wits and responded,
“I am lesser priest Melchior of the goddess All-Sight.”
As he said this the light around him began to tint red and slowly drift back to the warm yellow. He then followed after the heavier rogue towards the door.
Ash gave an exasperated look at Melchior as he complimented her but didn't comment on it. Sure, you could say that tieflings were related to angels in a very roundabout way, but it wasn't a fact most people chose to compliment them about. "Laying it on a bit thick, eh?" she muttered quietly as she followed him and Barnabas out the door.
As Harras started yelling Ash, exasperated, didn't hesitate to snap back at him. "For the love of god stop yelling! Some of us had other things to take care of before we could answer you. As for my name, I'm Ashtaroth Blackwood, but everyone calls me Ash." She looked back at the aasimar and the second half-elf who were still standing around in the inn. "We should get a move on. Darkness doesn't bother me, but many foul beasts come out at night, so travel will be more dangerous then. Besides," she added, nodding at Melchior, "our human associate would likely appreciate a bit of courtesy."
Hmm. Well sorry for that outburst. he waits for everyone to finish before saying I am Horros former member of the cler-he stutters be fore continuing gy of the church of Ilmater.
Horros walked looking calm giving off confidence and calmness, but in his mind things seem strange sowalks up to Erik trying to talk Am I the only one feeling weirded out by the mans pay? He asks
Barnabas, leading the way begins to sway, a little dance step creeping in as they travel towards the Triboar trail. After a mile or so it turns into a shanty he once heard, the rhythm adding to his step. "Think of it this way Horros. A day at the Inn with food and drink is less than a 'Dragon' (gp) and this man is willing to give us twenty of them to retrieve an item from some Goblins. Sounds like a deal to me!"
"Hey Melchior, As your God is All-sight maybe you could keep us on trac, I will try to help of course." He says, merrily enjoying this 'adventure' suddenly pointing in front of Ash. "DONT STEP IN THE HORSE PADDY, wow, Ash you gotta watch where your going."

OKAY WHAT IS EVERYONE'S NAMES!?horros said angrily after being ignored by everyone before
"Well calm down there now, my name is Erik. If we are too work together on this then I suggest we all keep a level head."
"I was ambushed about an hour north from here. Not far away from the Triboar Trail. Unless someone has cleared it by now, the goblin corpses will still be there."

"Well, I certainly can join this little excursion. Will you be joining us?"

Adventure awaits, he thinks excitedly.

You all head out and follow the directions. Could whoever is leading give a survival check. With advantage if someone is helping them.
Also, if anyone is doing anything in particular while traveling, let me know.
