We'll scout along the path for a position with heavy cover nearby and prepare. Preferably before the path forks in multiple directions and far enough to avoid reinforcements from the steading. Assuming this is also to the north we'll prepare to fight.
Fah'lin pickets Cadail well off the path and under cover, and hides out of sight along the road. (Stealth: 9, disadv.25)

The giant caravan approaches with ogres and dire wolves acting as scouts. Do they spot you? 6 No they don't. Actions for surprise round and initiative for after.
For those thinking of a fireball you can choose between 3 giants or 2 ogres and two wolves
As they are preparing Fah'lin casts False Life To bolster his defences.
Fah'lin waits til the scouts have passed, before giving the signal, the signal is him leaping over the rock he'd hid behind, and spear heading the assault. He runs toward the Giants (I presume 60 feet or so away, with the scouts 50 feet or so the other way.)
Fah'lin Hexes the nearest (trailing) Ogre sapping it's strength just as he releases a Blast of Eldritch power, hitting 24 for 9 force 5 necrotic and 15 for 6 force 3 necrotic
