Droop: "Yes, crevasse eye monster just want corpses. Then it nice. It talk to Droop in head. Droop throw in Woodworker, eye monster say nice things to Droop in head. Otherwise eye monster say mean in head."
Badger exhales deeply, grateful that he thinks he's found the source of the voice near the crevasse. "Come, let's feed the thing this ruffian. Droop, can you lead us to the holding cells?"
After Ash translates for Droop, he leads you out the north door and east, back to the cavern. When you approach carrying a corpse, the nothic greets you each in turn. In your minds, you hear a whispering screeching: "Oh! Greeeeeehaaa! A red food. Thanks you my non-red friends. Leeeeeehaaaaaa!"
Droop continues across the northern bridge, north through the storeroom, and east through a secret door into a narrow passageway. To the east is a locked door and to the south is another door. Droop points to the southern door and says, "Only Redbrands that way. Cells through there."He seems unwilling to get any closer to the door.
The three of you and Droop head back to the common room to grab cloaks off of three of the corpses, which fit poorly to varying degrees. Droop heads back to his chambers when the three of you return to the passageway. Droop refused to follow and wanted to be in his chambers should the other bugbears, including one he called Mosk, return.
You open the southern door in the passage into a crypt. Three large stone sarcophagi stand within this dusty crypt, and propped up against each sarcophagus is a human skeleton clad in bits of rusty mail. False columns along the walls are carved in the image of spreading oak trees. The double doors in the southeast corner are sheathed in tarnished copper plate. The single door in the northeast leads to the holding cells.
You rush in. This long room is partitioned into three areas, with iron bars walling off the north and south. Filthy straw lines the floors of those cells, the hinged doors of which are secured by chains and padlocks. A pair of disheveled human women are held in the cell to the south, while a human boy is confined to the north. All are dressed in plain gray tunics and have iron collars fitted around their necks. A heap of discarded clothing is piled carelessly against the far wall.
Two Redbrand ruffians guard the prisoners and are Surprised by your sudden entrance.
Ash squeezes passed Badger (to the center square) and slashes twice at ruffian 2 (22 & 17 to hit, 12 piercing (+sneak))
Badger swings his battleaxe at ruffian 2 (22 to hit (crit!), 9 slashing)
K rushes at ruffian 1 swinging his quarterstaff (8 to hit, miss) and punches at him (7 to hit, miss), but he's distracted by the prisoners poor conditions. "We're the Quote Unquote Fantastic and we're here to rescue you."
Badger moves to meet her at the bars. "Yes, my lady. We heard about your husband's demise and your family's disappearance, so we've come to release you. We also dispatched of some dozen of the bullies, so you should no longer fear their wrath. We'll send you out a secret tunnel and..." Badger trails off, realizing the danger that might put them in. He looks at K, a concerned look on his face.
K also realizes that Redbrands or bugbears could return at an inopportune time, putting the Dendrars in danger. "But first, we must also dispatch of their leader, a wizard named Glasstaff. Have you seen him or do you know anything about him?"
Ash gathers the red coats for the prisoners to wear. He also investigates the pile of clothes. Investigation: 9
The woman looks nervous. "Don't leave us here! They'll kill us and feed us to some eye monster. Look at that pile of clothes! They've been kidnapping townspeople and feeding them to that thing for months!"
The female girl, a young teenager by the looks of her, approaches her mom and hugs her. The boy starts crying softly.
Ash: "We only have two cloaks for three people. Suggestions?"
Badger, still focused on the woman: "I am Clive Badger, paladin of Tyr and member of the Quote Unquote Fantastic. We will not let you die here. What are your names?"
K approaches the boy's cage. "Hey, kid. Don't worry. We're the good guys and we'll get you home." To Ash:"While you get them out of these cages, I'll go get another cloak." He leaves before there is time to stop him. Stealth: 23; Perception: 16
Ash puzzles through what Droop said and shares it with Badger and K.
K: "That's another mention of this eye monster. Kellen mentioned it, too." Does K know anything about an eye monster? Nature: 14
Badger also wonders about the eye monster. Nature: 7
No, none of you know anything about an eye monster.
K: "Ash, ask if Droop can tell us more about the eye monster."
Ash, in goblin: "Droop, what is the eye monster? Something in the crevasse that will leave us alone if we feed it a corpse?"
Droop: "Yes, crevasse eye monster just want corpses. Then it nice. It talk to Droop in head. Droop throw in Woodworker, eye monster say nice things to Droop in head. Otherwise eye monster say mean in head."
Ash shares the information with the others.

K: "The eye monster notes that we are 'non-red.' Should we go back and wear some cloaks beyond that door?"
Ash: "Maybe. Droop, what is beyond that door?"
Badger listens at the door to the east. Perception: 8
Droop just shrugs. "Only Redbrands that way."
Badger: You hear nothing.
K: "Let's get red cloaks. It was the first thing Pikka noticed about us. We might be able to better pretend to be recruits with cloaks."
Badger: "Okay. Then let's go save the Dendrars."

Ash inspects the skeleton for any signs of undead and, assuming none, tries to open the first sarcophagus.
Badger whispers harshly, "Ash! Can we please rescue the family first? We can come back to look for whatever after."
Ash groans and sighs. He returns to the party and motions to enter.
K listens at the door. Perception: 13
When ready, Badger will rush in.
K: You don't hear anything at the door.

The adult woman in the southern cell moves to the bars. "Did you say you're here to rescue us? Oh gods be praised."
Badger moves to meet her at the bars. "Yes, my lady. We heard about your husband's demise and your family's disappearance, so we've come to release you. Badger: the woman replies, more calmly, "I am Mirna. This is Nilsa, and that is Nars."
K: you are able to sense no threat, successfully grab another red cloak from a corpse in the common room, and return to the cells with it.
