The mermaid lets out a final scream as the arrows pierce her body!

The beach scene flickers then vanishes. You see a room mostly filled with scum water with a beach of crushed bones. The "palm tree" was just the discarded shell of some creature.

The room is octagonal, about 50 feet across. There is a door at the other end, past the cloudy water.

And well, the mermaid is some kind of tentacled being with a round sucker mouth full of teeth.

“Magic bastards!” Glink remarks once again, “told ya Bud.”

Nib getting ready to strike as the magic vanishes. "Glink you are right, pthewy with Magic." He tends to his wounds. 

What next?

Glink will search the area for all the loooot the tentacle monster / mermaid stole from its previous victims.

A silver pin in the shape of a cow

A single dragon chess piece made of black wood

3 bent coppers

1 gauntlet of leather with a large red gemstone set on the back of the hand

A small brass key

The skeleton of a mouse head encased in glass

"Oh, damn it. It was an illusion but if felt so real." says Vodin. He eyes the cloudy water before the door with skepticism. He takes a handful of crushed bones and tosses them into the cloudy waters before the door to see what happens. 

"Hey a key. We can try the key in that door over there and see if that will work." Nib will try the key.

The water is very warm and gets to be more than 8 feet deep near the door - too cloudy to tell how deep.

The door has no lock. It is like the others, made of bronze. It has stylized reeds and eel decoration.

Glink collects every last tooth and trinket paying extra attention to the gauntlet.
