Anachain listens to Deniz's answers and nods authoritatively... or something. She is not entirely sure that he exactly said that they had a deal all hammered out and understood by both parties but screw it, there was potential chaos to set right so she really didn't want to ignore it while they haggled anyway.
"Ok all, you heard them. There's monsters (or something) to fight so let's go fight them!" Anachain calls out in a kind of stage-shout to grab everyone's attention and get them moving.
"Madam Mayor, please tell Cassie that we had to leave in a hurry and we'll be taking our horse and cart... But we will still be wanted them tended to once we return, as well as rooms..." Anachain gives the mayor a smile trying to convey that she doesn't mean to treat her as a messenger but if she wants the town's troubles handled then... And with that done she heads out of the Inn once more to gather and ready said horses and cart and await everyone else. Hopefully someone who knows where they are going because she certainly does not.
Grimrin watches the exchange with the mayor and Deniz, determined to stay silent and simply watch for lies or other signs of danger. But when it looks like the offer is about to be retracted, his eyes go wide in panic. He starts to move to protest and plead, but quiets down again when he sees Deniz handling the situation masterfully. Looking at the list, his excitement does get the better of him.
"If you have all this to offer, I'd gladly deal with all your bandit, bridge, monster troubles, and do your laundry for a month. We'll make sure-"he hears the shouts and sees his group starting to mobilize. "We'll-" Anachain is out the door already. He starts to scoot off his seat and grabs his pack and bow "Shoot, I guess we're off, but Deniz and I will make sure everyone else is on board!"With that, he rushes off after the others
Togar straightens himself up, turning his glare from the Mayor, regarding Deniz. He doesn’t need to probe his mind, he can tell that he speaks from confidence, that he must’ve seen or discussed the magic items directly and have good knowledge about the veracity of her claim, and the suitability of the spoils. “Very well..” he summarily says, striding across to the door, wishing no further discussion until the deed is done. If she holds out on us after all of this… I’ll … I’ll…well I don’t know what I’ll do. But it will be epic, I’m sure of that.
As he stands outside, he sees Kulloda hustling the elves along, he nods and starts to follow ..
As the commotion increases, the Mayor looks from one party member to the next, a bit confused as to what is happening. "Footprints?" The two dwarves stop what they are doing as well and stare at Kulloda. When Deniz confirms the deal and bows to her, she smiles, sticks out her hand to shake and whether he does or not, she nods and takes her leave of the Inn. "You know where to find me." Before she suddenly runs into Mother Anachain as the warlock reenters the Inn.
"Oof!" one of the wood elves cry when Kulloda lifts him out of his seat. Overhearing MA's request to the mayor for Cassie, he rushes over towards them. "Umm.. no horses needed, it would be easier to reach the area by foot, it's just outside of town." One of the dwarves pats Mother Anachain on the back heartily, "Don'a ye worry lass, ol Artie will tell yon Cassie you's be back soon. Happy huntin!" His friend cracks a wide grin, raises his mug to Artie's wish and then proceeds to drain it, followed by a large belch.
The Mayor shakes her head, "I assume that will be all?" and rushes out of there as fast as her feet can walk.
Surprised by the sudden interest of a group of strangers in the Inn, the elves shuffle their way out of the place, looking back to see who all is following them. The quiet one finally speaks up, "I.. I don't know what all you're looking for, it was just a strange set of prints... we don't even know how long it has been there."
"Well we've apparently been hired to rid the town of the strange... So these prints seem right up our alley!" Anachain says this with a lot more confidence than she really has. She doesn't know exactly what the deal is, or exactly what Kulloda heard about the prints and their location, but it was better than doing nothing. Besides, if it got the group acting like a group... It's got to be good, right?
Not wanting to leave anyone behind, Anachain takes a moment to dismiss Myrth from wherever he was and re-appear him into a much closer location. He should still be invisible and all but to play it safe she'll have him reappear up in a tree or some other obscured location so he can turn so unseen if not already... Now that he is close enough she'll communicate with him telepathically and see if he found out anything interesting tailing the older elf who had been writing in a book. It was a long shot but having a handy dandy invisible familiar makes following up on long shots a lot easier. At least for her herself. Myrth does complain about the extra workload on occasion but a few treats usually quells his discontent.
"There was an elderly elf at the Inn when we arrived, sitting at a table along and scribbling into a tome," Anachain says to the younger elves who found the footprints. "Did you two see him? Do you know who he was?" She tries to keep it light and inconsequential but Anachain cannot help but wonder if the old man who rushed out might be more than an old scholar...
"The elf that was scribbling? Didn't really take notice, but it was probably Morty. He's been doing that every night for weeks, the names Darryl by the way and this is Ashten, and you are?"
The two elves lead you to the outskirts of the town, at the edge of the bluff that leads down to the water below. From this vantage point, you can see the road that leads to the bridge at the North end of town that continues east over the river down below. The wind has picked up and with the sun starting to set, you can feel the coolness of the oncoming night around you. Darryl lights a torch and throws it down to the muddy bank below.
The torch illuminates the tracks that are still there, and appear as what they described to those that overheard. Long-toed, four clawed and the prints disappear halfway to the water, there is a big gap between the prints heading in that direction and then the rushing water. As you look, Ashten looks up to the trees surrounding the area.
"Morty..." Anachain repeats, kind of letting the name soak in the air a bit.
"Thank you Darryl. For a second I thought the other one was going to be your brother, also named Darryl... Don't mind me, my brain is just weird sometimes," Anachain responds. "I am Anachain. The loud one who dragged you two out is Kulloda, if he didn't introduce himself. And we have Togar, Deniz and Grimrin there, there and there." She points to each in turn.
Anachain is interested in the tracks but holds no illusions that she will be able to gleam anything from them. She is no nature girl but she hopes that Deniz, perhaps, will be able to recognize them? When Ashten looks to the surrounding trees, she first wonders if he spotted Myrth or his movements but with a quick check realizes Myrth isn't in the location that their guide is looking... But she does send him in that direction to check things out.
Grimrin doesn't take his eyes off of Darryl and Ashton as they make their way to the spot. As Anachain takes a look at the tracks, the little halfling takes out his bow and deftly strings it. He keeps his back to Anachain so he can look out and around, wary for signs of an ambush. (Perception Check 15)
As they approach, Togar takes to the air, going straight up and watching for signs of movement, anyone hearing them who may be trying to move away from the area. He’s kept his helmet on and focuses on the area surrounding where they have stopped, trying to pick up any thoughts, anyone fleeing the area.

Kulloda claps and rubs his hands together. He 'helps' the two elf guards up and gets them moving towards the doorway to follow Anachain.
"Go, go, go," Kulloda says. "Monsters to hunt."
He pauses for a moment near the mayor as he moves along.
"Head or no head," Kulloda asks. The last batch of heads seemed to be underappreciated.
((Oh, the mayor most DEFINITELY needs head!))

Kulloda pats the quiet elf on the back.
”Strange footprints by bridge. Bridge have trouble. Find out what make prints.” Kulloda says as explanation to the elf.
