"Huungh! ...iot!" she manages to finish the sentence, resisting the insidious power. "What's the matter with you?! Let me pass! I'll blast them from safety from the stairs!"
Khessa hopes that, in the heat of the fight, Vaaz (who already seems inclined to believe that Flennis should help him) will be convinced of Flennis's strategy (since Flennis is a spellcaster): to get out of range of the ' enemies' to help him from range.
If Vaaz lets 'Flennis' pass, she, as soon as she is behind him, surprise attacks him from behind with a swing of Greataxe that suddenly appears in her hand.
If instead Khessa sees Vaaz perplexed, or suddenly unconvinced, or in any case unwilling to let her pass, she sighs: "Well, if you don't want my help, perhaps what you say isn't entirely true..." and simply steps back and try to hit him with another Fire Bolt.
[[ OOC: Duplicated temporarily the token to show the 2 possible position Khessa goes to, depending on Vaaz's trust - or lack of it ]]
[[ OOC: Personally I think Deception would be more appropriate, because it's trying to trick Vaaz rather than entertain him - but it doesn't change anything, either way she has to roll 1d20-1 ]]

Khessa's Performance: 12
(I can accept the Deception check as well. Performance as you were trying to mimic another observed creature, the Master of Souls. But either one should work in this situation.)

No problem! 12 anyway... Was this enough to get her behind Vaaz? Or had she to retreat? (Almost irrilevant, given her attack rolls, but just to erase the unneeded pair of tokens from the map...)
Elias tries to think of something that might give us an advantage, then it hits him. One Winter's Eve celebration he spooked the Lord's grandchildren by casting light on a bed sheet and mage hand floating it down the hall like some ghostly specter.
He quickly pulls off his outer cloak and cast light the cloak being less then 10 ft in total should glow with a bright light. He then cast, probably next turn, mage hand directing it to grab the cloak and carry it toward the skull face guy, floating up high close to the ceiling. Maybe it'll distract him enough to let his guard down. Then command the hand to drop it on the foe, with any luck over his head, give him a disadvantage?
desperate times call for desperate measures, hope this works! the young wizard cries.
Mistynip touches her holy symbol, Helm guide your hand as she cast bless on Khessa, Reya and Mortlock. ((this should give you an extra 1d4 to add to your attack rolls and saving throws))
MORTLOCK drops his crossbow and attacks VAAZ. Even though one of the attacks appears to strike true against the SKULL-FACED DUDE, it reacts taking no damage.
ROSEBUD turns into a WOLF and engages the SKULL-FACED DUDE. (It takes an Action to turn into the Wolf, so Rosebud would not also be able to attack in the same round. You can move. I went ahead and moved the Rosebud Wolf token.)
MISTYNIP blesses KHESSA, MORTLOCK, and REYA.
KHESSA convinces the DUDE that she is indeed the Master of Souls and moves behind VAAZ. But then turns and strikes it with her Greataxe. With MISTYNIP’s blessings cuts into the SKULL-FACED DUDE. (With the Surprise attack, and a little old school adjustment for the situation, I had Vaaz at AC15. So, Khessa only needed a point of Blessing to hit.)
REYA drops her worthless crossbow, moves, and hacks into the SKULL-FACED DUDE with her Greatsword. (Attack 21 Damage 12)
ROSALINE misses with a Javelin.
ELIAS casts a Light spell on his cloak.
ROUND THREE
VAAZ hisses and briefly turns its dark gaze at KHESSA knowing that the Master of Souls does not wield a Greataxe. (Khessa must make a DC14 Wisdom Save or be stunned to the end of your next turn.)
The SKULL-FACED DUDE then turns its attacks onto its prime target, MORTLOCK. The result is that the big Hulking Human falls. VAAZ sees his opening and quickly moves through the gap in an attempt to escape the situation, now that its mission has been fulfilled.
(Everyone is in Difficult Terrain. Vaaz has a speed of fifty. He moves onto the square where Mortlock falls. If Khessa was not stunned she would get an AoO. When it moves out of Wolf Rosebud and Reya's area they each would get an AoO, and finally when it passes Rosaline, she would get an AoO.)
Khessa is too angry with the assassin, accomplice to a plan that would have caused an incalculable number of victims, and finds the willpower to resist his gaze: "Look at me as badly as you want, Vaaz... When it comes to fighting, I prefer steel to bad glances!"
And at those words the blonde arcane warrior brings down her Greataxe in a slash with the speed of lightning seeing that the assassin tries to escape.

SKULL-FACED DUDE INTELLIGENCE CHECK8
(Khessa Flennis fools the Dude.)
Lol! Great! Useless, but fun 😀. Now, best of luck to the others... Come on guys, time to roll some nat 20.
Seeing Khessa behind the skull-faced man, Rosebud transforms into a wolf and lunges at Vaaz. (Attack 15)

Rosaline is just going to chuck another javelin at the skull-face guy.
