"Ah, right."Korath heads into the hall, giving the priests a nod. "We seem to have found an invisible key. Could any of you perhaps help dispel the illusion, or trace it to what it opens?"Persuasion 5 :(
Hearing Korath failing to convince the priests and then prompting him to speak, Gurog quickly stepped up behind him. Stumbling over his words and being more forceful than he intended: (Persuasion 10 - 1 + 4 guidance = 13) You guys, do magic, magic reveals stuff, reveal stuff now… please. We are trying to right the wrongs done here
He looks back at the others with panic visible on his face, clearly out of his comfort zone, and no idea if his words had any effect.
Rich will speak up, By decree of the mayor and with the authority of the captain of the guard we have been sent to solve the mystery of the apparent death of the Holy Sol, who's celestial form appears to be laying just outside our city. Our investigation indicates father Elnezar to be a blasphemer! A heretic! A false prophet of the Holy Sol. His false teaching have taken root among some of your brothers, whom he sent to their deaths by trying to stop our further investigation. Now brothers, the faithful of Sol, we need your help. It appears that among Elnezar's treachery, yes I shall no longer refer to him with the title of Father due to his foul Hersey, he has hidden something from you and we have a key, but his evil magic has made the key invisible. We need your help, can any among you, through the Light of Sol, make this key and whatever else the evil one may have hidden from us visible again?
Intimidation 9. ((OOC trying to awe them into helping, not threaten. Not a great roll, but pretty good speech, lol))
Norb who was in conversation with the priests trying to explain the situation and its seriousness was interrupted by one of the youngsters running about the rooms like headless chickens "Youth—always in a rush, like saplings expecting to be trees by sundown."

OOC: haha I love having a great idea/speech and just botching the roll. I usually roll first to see how my attempt comes out and then have my character fit that. In my canon, you just thought that speech to yourself, but the words that came out were like, "The mayor sent us, we are important. Elnezar is bad and he is no father of yours. Look an invisible key. Find more invisible stuff for us." LOL

Moved by your speech, the chubby priest steps forward and closes his eyes, lays his hands over the key and whispers a prayer to sol. His eyes widen. “Sol’s power… it’s gone from me.” He looks up at you, defeated. “There’s nothing we can do. Our god is dead. Tears leak from his eyes, and he sits down in the middle of the hallway and begins hyperventilating.
Gurog: Well damn, I guess that idea was a flop. Do we want to keep searching manually for a hidden keyhole? That slippery priest must have gone somewhere! Or should we just abandon the search and continue to the place where Sol fell?
"Sure, let's ask priests to find secret, hidden doors. I'm sure they have done more of that than anyone else here.". I grab a lighted candle and take it into the room. Methodically searching the walls, I watch the candle flame as I'm searching. I'm looking for some errant wind to blow on the flame through a tiny crack in the hidden door. Perception +1. 13
Korath frowns, but gives a shrug. "Let's see what the rogue can do first." He follows Unam back into the room and taps the halfling's shoulder to cast guidance again.
Norberos puts a hand on the priest's shoulder "Balderdash....of course there are things you can do. Would Sol want you to sit idly by, weeping like children lost in the woods or would Sol want you to aid us in this investigation? Grief is a natural part of life, yes, but your god would not want you to allow their murderers to go unpunished. So lend us your help, please"
Aymar, feeling claustrophobic, heads outside for some fresh air and to make sure there is no one else coming or trying to leave the temple unnoticed. (Nat 20 Perception for 25 total)

(Adding Guidance to my previous roll of 13. 3. That didn't work, so DM, it's your roll.

You don’t notice any coming or going. It’s dusk now, and the city seems quiet.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

Since we're in a priest's office, I grab a few sheets of parchment and a cold piece of coal from the fireplace. I place the parchment on the floor, where the wind blew the candle out, and rub the coal on it to make a rubbing. That should help narrow down the hidden door quickly. Perception +1 17

You don’t notice any coming or going. It’s dusk now, and the city seems quiet.
As you sweep the room, you stop right next to the door. The candle flickers, then goes out. The draft seemed to come from the floor.
Rich will help search the floor section perception 8
Gurog will take the help action for Aymar's searching. (Granting him advantage)
Seeing the candle go out, Korath will head over and hand Unam the key. Clearly the halfling knows what's he's doing. He casts guidance on him again.
Zinlynn will crawl around on the floor, feeling for gaps and looking for any potential activation buttons or key holes. (Investigate: 6. nvrmnd...=(
