Clapper ignores the rest of the food and promptly gets up to follow the guards.

They start leading you to the basement. "There's this massive snake. It managed to expand its territory into our castle, and it's been causing damage. Music is the only thing that can hypnotize it so far. But it's smart, and it gets bored of hearing the same songs over and over." They eventually lead you to the dungeons, which has a whole wall crumbled on the ground showing a mossy cave beneath. The guards back up several feet. The next comment is whispered "You'll have to go in there and lure it elsewhere."

Thrudor looks at Whisper now understanding their name a bit better "Perhaps we investigate the cave tomorrow....it is getting late and if the cave is dark we could use some light...Perhaps everyone go back to their homes and lock up and sleep. The small militia keep watch and wake us if something goes wrong. My winged friend will perch on top of the cave and keep guard. It will let me know if something happens as well" With that Thrudor summons his hawk Beaky Blinders and commands him to watch the cave from a safe distance.

"Good idea." Whisper smiles at the bird, nodding and giving a wave at Thrudor as she turns and heads back to the inn.

That... well I wouldn't say snake necessarily. It looks like a 200 foot long teal blue snake 4 feet wide, and it has a skeleton running all the way down the outside of its body. It's head is mostly just the skull with transparent teal skin, and it's eyes are so bright it hurts to look directly at them. The snake's underside is covered in white feathers, and it's mouth has deadly fangs that shine like polished silver. The snake turns to you and flickers its tongue, which is dripping with green venom.

Whisper will take 20 minutes outside the cave to cast detect magic and speak with animals as rituals.

Clapper stares for a second, stunned, before swiftly coming to.
He pulls out his lute and sings a long soliloquy that he wrote years back.

Your spells have been cast, and you notice a faint aura of magic coming from the cave, and also one just inches below the ground a few feet away from you where there is a small lump in the earth.

The snake stands up partially and begins swaying, but his eyes are still locked on you. He says in hissing common "Tell me of your ssssong. What issss it called? Hissssssss..." The snake seems highly intelligent and obsessed with gaining this musical knowledge. The snake lifts up it's tail and begins strumming it along the outer bones as if playing along, which works like a lute but with a much lower song.

Clapper is surprised at the snakes musical talent.
"It doesn't have a name. It's called a soliloquy, it means talking to yourself."
He'll sing it again, harmonising with the snake.

Whisper tilts her head curiously and approaches the lump. She carefully digs through the earth with her hands.

The snake begins singing along, which sounds like the most cringe shrieking you've ever heard. The snake is frustrated by his lack of talent and opens his mouth viciously, snapping it in the air before looking hungrily at your instrument.
