Fibblestib is grateful for the words of encouragement and quick drying from Rasziel and Alisande. "Thank you! Yes, efforts must be doubled! A reinforced propeller apparatus should fix it right up!" His spirits are lifted and he begins fishing out the components to his contraption using a magnet and string he pulls from his pocket. "Propeller on a cap... huh. Worth looking into. Yes, indeed."
Lyra tells the group she intends to stay with Fibblestib, Dabbledob, and the rest of the gnomes for a bit to make sure they are not eaten by these monsters before the party eradicates them.
Gareth enters the stream and immediately slips on the slick embankment, sliding into the water. The freezing-cold water engulfs the ranger for a moment before he resurfaces and climbs out the other side, much in the same fashion as Fibblestib had just moments ago.
The group gathers at the eastern cave entrance and begins their search for the remaining monsters in Gnomengarde. Taking the first left in the cave, Zephyros leads the group into the gnomes dining room that contains several dining tables and chairs sized for small folk. A stout wooden cabinet against the east wall holds tin dishware and utensils. Once the group is confident the room is clear, everyone continues into another room deeper into the caves. This room is the kitchen and was designed so that everything is either close to the floor or readily reachable by tugging on an overly complicated rope-and-pulley mechanism. Moldy green mushroom bread rests on a countertop, Three vials of red liquid sit next to a fourth that had spilled out and run down to the floor. A dried out red mushroom lay discarded in a nearby bin. A stool sits next to a large barrel inside which purple mushrooms bubble and ferment. A cold oven is on the eastern wall.
Zephyros begins poking and prodding everything in the room. It doesn't take long before he pokes the stool. As soon as he does, the stool lashes out at the warrior with a pseudopod which the warrior easily deflects. However, as the veteran's attention is on the stool monster, a wall monster reveals itself and attacks the veteran from behind with a pseudopod. He gets hit on the back of the head with a devastating blow. [[Natural 20 for 16 bludgeoning damage and you are currently grappled.]] Ironheart begins getting pulled into the a mouth that materializes seemingly from the wall.
Having evidently made it across the water, Meirajoins the others in investigating the gnomes' home. When first the stool then the wall attack Zephyros, she rapidly grabs her shortbow and fires a shot at the Wall Monster. (Shortbow Attack: 25, Damage: 11 piercing + 7 sneak attack)
She moves just a short distance north along the wall in order to give the rest of her group some room. As she moves, she tries to distract the creature she just shot at to try to give Zephyrosa better opening. (Master of Tactics - HELP to give Advantage to Zephyros on his next attack.)
Meira's arrow hits the wall monster, causing massive damage. It retaliates by pulling Zephyros into it's mouth. It bites down on the back of the warrior's head.

Gareth is still dripping water from the stream, his brown hair soaked, when both a stool and the very wall itself begin to attack their stalwart warrior. Zephyros starts getting pulled into the wall, and the ranger forgoes his bow in this cramped space and unsheathes the sword Oathward, holding it in a double-handed stance. He moves forward and plunges the blade into the wall, being careful not to accidentally stab his friend in the process.
"Oh no you don't," he says to the wall.

Zephyroswinces in pain as the monster's teeth bite into the back of his head. Alisande beams with pleasure as Fibblestib seems to approve of the idea, and decides at once that propellor caps will be all the rage among Neverwinter high society this time next year. When Meira requests transport across the turbulent current she obliges with a fair smile, offering a hand up on to the back of the magical broom. "Hold on tight now, and if you are afflicted by vertigo, well, this would be the time to close your eyes!" She declares, zooming across the icy stream and spiralling down towards the cave entrance with entirely unnecessary flair and ostentation.
Upon landing, the noblewoman leans in to murmur to Meira. "If the experience met with your approval, perhaps when we return to Phandalin, you might care to take Lyra for a private excursion? I don't mind lending you the broom for a time. I daresay she might relish a nocturnal flight 'neath moon and stars."

In the cave proper, Alisande spends her time examining the pulley apparatus, equal parts amused by and admiring of the gnomish proclivity for unnecessarily complex mechanical solutions to simple problems. Curiosity continues to get the best of the wizard - she is about to move over to examine the vials of red liquid when an alarmed gasp escapes her lips as Zephyros is ambushed. A cry of warning comes too late when the wall itself comes alive and begins gnawing upon the trident-wielding warrior. Yet there is no time to gape in horror, no time to fear for Ironheart's well-being.
Following Gareth's awe-inspiring lead, the mage conjures into being a bulb of coruscating fire that she hurls at the creature's maw. A moment later, Zephyros feels himself wrenched violently by an unseen hand that attempts to yank him free of its teeth. A shout follows. "Merchant, now! Pull him clear of the monster's mouth!"

[[OOC: @Alisande what direction are you shoving Zephyros with your telekinesis? @Zephyros do you wish to automatically fail the save against the shove?]]
The young purple-robed dark-haired man with the sinister-looking scar seems less than impressed with the propeller-on-a-cap-proposition. Still, the lady would of course know better what the affluent and obscenely rich in Neverwinter would spend their ill gotten gains on, and who was he to decide how the filthy rich should battle their boredom. At least he knew that the gold that he strived to collect would be used for a higher purpose than that.
Again, both Rasziel and his accountant are slow to react as the shapechanging monsters reveal themselves. "Or, I simply incinerate the aberration." He answers the red-haired noblewomanwhile purplish magical energies in his hands starts to hum and crackle, then unleashing three purplish flaming beams from his hands and the purple jewel on his chest towards the monster on the wall.
Earlier, when Alisande had flown Meira across the river, she had held on, enjoying the ride. After the murmur to her, she responds, "I might just take you up on that!"
Zephyros wheels around to face his adversary while calling upon his warding magic to absorb some acid and redirect it back to his attacker. Unfortunately, the acid seems to have no effect on the creature, but his trident does. The monster is pierced in three spots as Zephyrosfeels his trident bite the actual wall behind the creature. Gareth draws his longsword and steps forward slashing at the wall monster's pseudopod that's attached to the armored veteran, while Alisande sends a mote of fire at the monster at the same time as she pulls Ironheart away from the monsters. The wall monster slides down the wall, dead in a pool of acidic muck.
Seeing the wall monster perish, Rasziel redirects his blasts a moment too late to the stool monster. Two of the rays miss their mark. Each ray coming closer to the stool in succession until the third hits and incinerates the monster, leaving it a smoldering pile of ash. The stool monster appeared to be much smaller than the wall monster and much easier to kill.
Meirabreathes a sigh of relief as the two creatures are defeated. "Well, two down," she says. "How many more do you suppose we're going to find?" She is ready to move on, then pauses for a moment to see how Zephyrosis doing. "Are you alright there, sir? As usual you seemed to have taken he brunt of the injuries."
"Perhaps it would be prudent to let the halfling see to your wounds before we proceed."Rasziel says, nodding in agreement with the stylish bard and giving the bearded veteran a concerned look, otherwise ready to proceed to clear Gnomengarde of it's aberration infestation.
Zephyroswaves off his allies concern, "What this, tis but a scratch. I'm fine, let's continue the hunt." He pops the cork out of a healing potion taken from his pack and chugs the contents down before leading the group to the next room and stabbing everything with his trident.
"Well, that was certainly interesting," Gareth says as their group makes short work of the two monsters. "These monsters can disguise themselves as anything, even the very walls. They proved no match for us though. Let's see if we can find any more."
The ranger follows Zephyros into the next room, watching as the grizzled warrior impales all the inanimate objects with his trident to make sure they are really inanimate and not lying in wait.

Meira keeps following a bit behind the group, letting Zephyros continue to lead the way. She keeps a close look out, but figures the man's trident will probably reveal more than her eyes will. (Perception: 8)
Alisande's relief is palpable as the monsters are reduced to acid and ash. When Zephyros assures the group that he is fit to proceed, she snatches up the three vials of red liquid, and peeks inside the barrel that rested beside the stool.
Items collected, she kicks off on her broom and races to rejoin the rest of the Phandalin crew. As she flies, the mage stitches together shimmering arcane threads, fashioning them into a stuffed toy facsimile of Ozymandias that pops into existence some thirty feet ahead of the party. "Let's test just how clever these monsters are..." She murmurs, with a wave of her wand. "This effigy is unlikely to deceive a keener mind, but if they be creatures of instinct, this bait may prove irresistible."
Investigation: 18 ((What do the vials contain and what is the purpose of the bubbling purple mushrooms?))
Giving the red-haired lady a small affirmative nod as she collects the vials, Rasziel too cautiously follows along, both he and his accountant having their eyes peeled for things not being what they seem. "If they were of a keener mind they would not even have tried to take on the Ironheart." He comments with a small but confident smile. He would assist with trying to reveal any more hidden aberrations by telekinetically pushing things around as the come into view.
You continue into a room that's piled high with small wooden crates. Alisande creates an illusion of Ozymandias in the room; nothing jumps at the stationary feline. Zephyros begins poking and prodding random crates, poking holes in many of them. Rasziel assists by shoving crates around, knocking some to the floor in the process. They break open, spilling their contents of green bread and other foodstuffs out onto the floor. The room is clear of monsters and thoroughly thrashed by the time the group is satisfied.
After a bit of backtracking, the group enters a room with two odd-looking contraptions parked in their own alcoves. Each resembles a crab with a barrel for a shell, six articulated metal legs, and a pair of forward-facing pincer claws. A hatch on the top of each barrel opens to reveal an interior compartment equipped with a small, leather-padded seat surrounded by levers, pedals, and gears. Aside from the contraptions, the room is otherwise empty. Rasziel is confident that none of the walls, ceiling, or floors are the monsters you're hunting.
Alisande,
Thinking back to your conversations with the gnomes, you believe the red liquid inside the three vials is squeezed from the red mushrooms and is burned inside of their lanterns that are hung throughout Gnomengarde. The bubbling mess of purple mushrooms smells terrible, but you recall the gnomes talking about fermenting the mushrooms into a wine they like to drink and sell to their neighbors.
